My Teaching Philosophy 1

The teacher's philosophy is to create a learning environment that allows each student to shine while expanding their knowledge in a subject. To achieve this, the teacher will make the classroom a safe and welcoming space for students to get help. The teacher and students will also respect each other and be open-minded to new concepts. Finally, the teacher will make learning engaging, fun, and help students through challenges so they can succeed.

My Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy as a teacher is to help expand children’s education in a particular subject

while letting the children be true and unique to themselves. I genuinely believe that every child is
unique in his/her own way, and my job as the teacher is to create a learning environment which
allows the student to shine brightly and accelerate in the classroom. As a teacher, I must
implement a few key teaching concepts in order to accomplish this philosophy in my classroom.
First of all, my classroom will serve as a safe and welcoming environment for anyone who walks
through my door. Also, both the students and I must respect one another and be open-minded to
learning new concepts. Finally, as the teacher, I will make learning engaging and as fun as
possible and will be willing to help my students whenever necessary in order to help them be
successful.
The most important concept to achieving my teaching philosophy is making sure my
classroom will serve as a safe and welcoming environment for anyone who walks through my
door. As a former student, I understand expecting a student to approach the teacher about a
situation can be intimidating, but I also understand the importance of a supportive learning
environment. I want the students to feel comfortable coming to talk to me about any situation.
The students can feel free to address me about a problem with an assignment, a problem within
the classroom, or even a personal problem. Whatever the problem may be, I promise to serve as
listening ears and to give my best advice on how to find a solution to the situation in a positive
way.
In addition to creating a safe and welcoming environment, it is critical for both the
students and I to have respect for one another and be open-minded to learning new concepts. As
the school year progresses, the more my class will grow and become a community with one
another. I expect my class to respect me and others around them, and I will do the same in return.
I will develop these relationships between the students and myself starting on the first day of
school. Respect will be given to them as soon as they enter the classroom. These positive
relationships with each other will continue throughout the school year by developing friendships
and being truthful with one another. In my classroom, the key to success will include being open-
minded to learning new things. We will cover concepts that will be new to some students or may
be previously taught material taught in a new way. The best way to learn through new and
challenging situations is to be open-minded about the subject and not shut down when confusion
hits. In addition, as a teacher, I must be open-minded to teaching in different ways. I believe that
every student is unique in his/her own way, which means that not every student learns the same.
I must be open-minded to teaching concepts in many different ways to help the students fully
grasp and understand what they are learning.
Finally, as the teacher, I will make learning engaging and as fun as possible and will be
willing to help my students whenever necessary in order for them to be successful. In my
classroom, I will be demonstrating the teaching method of connectivism, which is where the
“learner is [using] self-directed learning via nodes (content source, people, groups) within [a]
network” (Debbie Morrison 2013). To accomplish connectivism in my classroom, students will
participate in group discussions, interactive games (such as Kahoot or Quizlet) and even
participate in class projects and hand-on activities. I plan to make learning fun and interesting by
having interactive stations around my classroom, such as a bulletin board, online educational
games, or an art assignment to help demonstrate a particular concept. In my class, student
learning will be a top priority. Lastly, a major part of my classroom will be the use of
technology. Technology provides both the students and me with different digital tools that allow
learning to be more accessible and engaging. Technology in the classroom also increases student
engagement and provides students with multiple ways of learning. Therefore, I will help the
students during class, after class, or before class, whichever works best for them. The education
of the future generations is more important than anything else, and it will be my responsibility to
be adaptable.
I have dreamed of becoming a teacher since I was in kindergarten because I truly love
kids and want to make education exciting and influential. Based on my personal experiences, I
truly believe that a student is not defined simply by a grade on a test. I will know I am teaching
effectively when the student not only grows their education but grows as a person and is
prepared for future endeavors as well. I know future lawyers, doctors, first responders, and
hopefully even teachers will come and go through my classroom. I just hope I can have as much
of an influence on my students as they will have on me.
