Introduction JCB has identified that there are following potentially

three factors causing this concern,
Isolated reports of the air conditioning system going • Incorrect gas charge weight.
warm after a period (for example, 30min) of operation • Incorrect hosing of a reverse fan.
have been received from the field. This is an insight • Faulty water valve.
of the operator when inside the cab operating the
machine. To resolve this issue, the generation 1 water valve
has been replaced with a generation 2 water valve.
Refer to Figure 1.

The generation 1 water valve is being superseded by
an alternative design and the changes to the water
valve are as follows,

• Increase Processor Memory: This allows a

flatter torque vs. voltage curve and error code
to be embedded in feedback output.
• Replace Snaps with Screw for Perimeter:
Creates a more secure housing attachment.
• Increase H-bridge Power Handling: This allows
flatter torque vs. voltage curve.
• Replace Plastic Gear Shafts with Metal:
Improves gear train durability and longevity.
• Change Current Feedback with PWM (Pulse
Width Modulation): This allows feedback to be
compatible with more controller module inputs.
• Increase Pull-up Current for PWM Input: This
allows the control signal to be more tolerant of
leakage current on the controller module output.
• Increase Power Handling of Transient
Suppression: This allows more tolerance of
electrical transients in the power input.
• Replace Perimeter Seal Gasket with Foam in
place: Reduces chance of errors when installing
the perimeter seal.

Check (Condition)
It is advised that the charge weight is checked for the
correct grams as per the relevant Service manual.

Confirm that the reverse fan is operating correctly,

drawing air into the engine hood on normal operation
and blowing air out from the engine hood on a
reverse cycle.
