The document discusses Q-switched lasers and their use in tattoo removal, pigmentation treatment, and skin resurfacing procedures to generate revenue for aesthetic practices.

The document indicates that Q-switched lasers are commonly used for tattoo removal, skin resurfacing, acne scars, epidermal lesions, dermal lesions, sun damage, and laser peels.

The document explains that Q-switched lasers use an extremely short photo-acoustic pulse that is selectively absorbed by the target and dispersed throughout the epidermis faster than surrounding healthy tissue can be damaged.

What Makes a Q-Switched Laser Different

• Photo-Acoustic Pulse Single Pulse

• 5 Nanosecond pulse duration
• Extremely selective
– Peak energy is dispersed throughout the
epidermis faster than the
relaxation time of the healthy tissue
– Energy confined to target, minimizing
damage to surrounding tissue

• Long pulse lasers have

Photo-Thermal Pulse
• Heat energy is transferred to
tissue surrounding target
• Cooling necessary to limit
collateral tissue damage

MedLite® C6 and RevLite® SI

• Q-Switched lasers to address:

• Tattoo removal, pigmentation and skin resurfacing
• Four wavelengths:
• 1064nm, 532nm, 585nm and 650nm means more treatments on all
skin types
• Revolutionary PhotoAcoustic energy:
• High peak power and short pulse duration, shatters the target
chromophore — tattoo ink, pigments or collagen — without harming
the surrounding skin

PhotoAcoustic Technology

• Hallmark of the MedLite and RevLite Q-Switched Nd:YAG lasers

• High-speed light energy is released in a series of nanosecond
pulses, causing it to gently vibrate and shatter the targeted
chromophore (ink or pigment) deep within the skin
• Laser energy also stimulates new collagen growth to replenish
the collagen loss as we age
Wavelength Overview

• 1064nm Nd:YAG
• Most widely used wavelength in tattoo removal
• Increase dermal penetration and decreases melanin absorption
• Removes almost all colors of ink
• Safe for skin types I-VI

• 532nm
• Treats red, brown and orange inks
• Absorbed by melanin and hemoglobin
• Shallower penetration – ideal for superficial pigmented lesions

• 585nm
• Targets difficult colors including sky blue and purple

• 650nm
• Treats green ink

MOA Selective Photothermolysis
Uniform, Flat Top Beam Mode
Why it Matters

• Hotspots in beam cause:

• Collateral tissue damage
– Bleeding
– Scarring, hypo-pigmentation

• Limits depth of penetration

MedLite® C6 Features

• Superior flat top beam

• Expanded wavelength capabilities
• High rep rate dye handpieces
• Faster healing and higher patient satisfaction
• Tattoo removal, pigmented lesions, skin
resurfacing and more
RevLite® SI

The Benefits of MedLite® C6 plus:

• Photo-Acoustic Technology Pulse (PTP)

• Smart Infinite handpiece

• Increased power

• Accurate aiming beam

• Intuitive user interface

What is PTP?

Photo-Acoustic Technology Pulse (PTP)

• Unique pulse dispersion proven more effective and more
comfortable than single Q-switched pulse1
• Used for skin resurfacing with a 6 or 8 mm spot size
• Up to 60% more power2, allowing effective treatment at larger
spot sizes
• Converts PhotoAcoustic MOA to PhotoThermal causing
non-ablative skin resurfacing
• Clinical studies indicate PTP mode offers great efficacy with
increased patient comfort

PTP Pulse Structure
PTP Pulse Structure

• PTP converts PhotoAcoustic MOA to Photothermal causing non-ablative

skin resurfacing.
• Double pulse lowers the peak power creating subtle thermal injury
Smart Infinite (SI) Handpiece

• Handpiece is adjustable in 0.1 mm increments

• 1.8 – 8.5 mm in 1064 nm
• 1.2 – 6.0 mm in 532 nm

• Provides more control and accuracy in determining laser settings

• Allows user to consistently treat at maximum fluence with largest

spot size

• Provides user with the ability to match pigmented lesion spot size
Smart Infinite (SI) Handpiece

• Laser consistently recognizes handpiece spot size

• Dye HP pulse count is monitored

• Customer will be notified when handpiece is close to being
depleted and with deplete

• Aiming beam matches the 532 nm beam

• Beam will adjust with actual treatment beam diameter, intensity
remains constant
MedLite Dye Handpieces

• Dye cells for additional treatment

• 585 nm – 2 Hz
• 650 nm – 1 Hz
• RevLite SI auto sensing
RevLite® 532Lite Handpiece

• Low fluence, small spot size treatments, ideal for

pigment
• 1.2 – 3 mm in 0.1 mm increments
• 0.35 – 2.4 J/cm2 fluence range
• SI handpiece spot size auto
selected
• Accurate fluence = correct fluence displayed
– Power cut by 50%, software calculates correct fluence on
display

• Accurate aiming beam = laser beam spot size
