Manhood is not just a biological growth but it’s a heavy responsibility that is saddled on one’s

shoulder. The intellectual growth of any man is largely dependent on the quality of education
one is exposed to.
Education in a utilitarian context shapes the mind in a positive way. It prepares everyman for
the intrigues and challenges of life. Having said that I got admitted into the ENUGU STATE
UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, to study INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY.
It’s a discipline that deals with the commercial production of chemicals and related products
from natural raw materials and their derivatives. It basically focuses on the physical and
chemical processes towards the transformation of raw materials into products that are
beneficial to humanity.
The discipline exposed me to a sound theoretical background of how an industrial environment
will look like and its attendant economic effect on the society at large.
The modern world is been shaped by how modern businesses are run and operated. This is been
made possible by the phenomenon of ‘’GLOBALIZATION’’. Globalization is the growing
interdependence of world’s economy and globalization has accelerated since the 18 th century
thanks to the advancement in transportation and communication technology. Business deals or
transactions that could be made possible only through physical contact or weeks to finalize, is
now been done swiftly all thanks to the presence of sophisticated technology. The positive
impact of globalization cannot be downplayed for any reason.
My ambition to acquire a degree in HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT is as a result of
the working experience I have gained in the time I have spent in my work place and insight I
have gathered too from personal research.
Business have been imperative in building our modern way of life, the versatility and
innovations of conducting modern day business have captured my attention and I have been
enthralled participating in the business world in a useful platform.
My first working experience started after my university education, when I got employed with
WETOLA NIGERIA LIMITED, an indigenous oil and gas and procurement firm as office
secretary and logistics personnel. It was a challenging task for me as I had to combine the above
job description as a first timer with the company. But all through my life I have always love
challenges because it always brings out the best in me.
In my role as office secretary, I was responsible for taking minute of meetings, taking record of
correspondence and implementing administrative procedures etc. It was an eye- opening
experience for me as I had to be intellectually savvy in the discharge of my duties. Also, in my
duties as logistics personnel I had to organize, store and monitor the distribution of goods to
ensure items and resources are transported to their appropriate destinations.
My job duties entail that I should always be fastidious and giving careful attention to details,
with little or no room for error because it was critical that service delivery was achieved at all
cost in an ethical atmosphere. It’s a job I have been enjoying doing and also learning the core
essence of been an image maker as an office secretary for my company.
After spending five years in my role as office secretary and logistic personnel, I was drafted to
the department of human resources to head the department after a vacancy there. I had already
collaborated with that department whilst working in my previous role in delivering
organizational mandate.
Human Resources department is like a wheel that drives the engine of any organization’s vision.
Its essentially critical in mobilizing human factor for the positive implementation of a
company’s ambition. In my own understanding Human Resources management is the strategic
approach to the effective and efficient management of people in a company’s or organization
such that they help their business gain a competitive advantage. It is designed to maximize
employee performance for service delivery.
In my capacity as a HR manager, I have had to work with personnel of different temperament
and exposure, some whom ordinarily requires long patience and extensive motivation to bring
out the best in them. I have had to delegate task to other team members and thereby building
trust and capacity for positive outcome. The growth of every conglomerate lies squarely on the
input of a functional Human Resources unit.
The environment must be healthy and free from rancour amongst staff so as to breed efficient
organizational, and productive human labour. Therefore, to stand out in the competitive
business space, the process of recruitment, collective bargaining, training and career
development must be present for positive financial performance in the business arena.
Having grasp a crystal understanding of the environment in a global perspective, which has
enhanced my communication craft and inter/intra personal relationship, my passion for a more
advance Human Resources management have continued to burgeon forthwith. I have used my
leisure time to peruse articles and journals extensively for a more modern approach in the field
of Human Resources and I have also made use of the internet both government and private
website for more information on this course.
To this end, I am applying to your master’s programme in HUMAN RESOURCES
DEVELOPMENT as a student with wide-range work experience. Over the years it has become
increasingly crystal clear that my long- term career strides lie in the field of the corporate world
and probably HR as a long- term career profession. The principal reason that motivated me to
pursue MSc in HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT is the appeal and challenges that HR
managers experience in delivering assignments they undertake in their career. The qualification,
indeed, lead to a very smart and modern careers for graduates who love challenges, creativity,
leadership and success.
I humbly believe a degree in HR is all I need for this dream to come true. My choice of course
and university has been thoroughly and extensively researched and my knowledge of what the
course entails, means I am confident that I am confident that this is the right course for me.
I already have an understanding with the company to go and further broaden my intellect and a
possible return to my role. Also, I could go into full time consultancy in HR or open my own
company and mentor young people in the career of business and HR.
My greatest attributes is that I am inquisitive and hardworking. I am willing to learn and I am
open to every opportunity to learn new things and old ones in a different way. I am genuinely
interested in others, which makes me believe that human resources is the path for me.
Further to this, I choose SUNDERLAND UNIVERSITY for its scholarly erudition and
Academic renaissance to become one of the top learning destinations to study around the world.
The UNITED KINGDOM has excellent higher-education system of the British stock. I am also
looking forward to meeting international student and working with them as a team. I am
