All About STI

STI (Systems Technology Institute) was founded on August 21, 1983 as a computer training
center with only two campuses but now STI has campuses all over Philippines and has diversified into
ICT-enhanced programs in Information Technology, Business Management, Tourism, Hospitality and
Management, Engineering, and Arts and Sciences.
It all started when four visionaries conceptualized setting up a training center to fill very specific
manpower needs. It was in the early 80’s when four entrepreneurs – Augusto C. Lagman, Herman T.
Gamboa, Benjamin A. Santos and Edgar H. Sarte – came together to set up Systems Technology
Institute(STI), a training center that delivers basic programming education to professionals and students
who want to learn this new skill. The first two schools were inaugurated on August 21, 1983 in Buendia,
Makati and in Espana, Manila and offered basic computer programming courses. With a unique and
superior product on their hands, it was not difficult to expand the franchise through the founders’
business contacts. A year after the first two schools opened, the franchise grew to include STI Binondo,
Cubao and Taft. A unique value preposition spelled the difference for the STI brand then: “First We’ll
Teach You, Then We’ll Hire You.” Through its unique Guaranteed Hire Program (GHP), all qualified
graduates were offered jobs by one of the founders’ companies, or through their contacts in the
industry. The schools’ first batch of graduates, all 11 of them, were hired by Systems Resources
Incorporated. And through GHP, more qualified STI graduates found themselves working in their field of
interest straight out of school.
No one among the four founders imagined that Systems Technology Institute would become
a college, or would grow to have over 100 schools across the country. But it did, all because of its unique
value proposition, the synergy between the founders and their personnel, and the management’s
faithfulness to quality. A long way since its birth, STI’s thrust has permeated right into the core of the
globally competitive market – it has transcended beyond ICT and beyond education, addressing the
need for job –ready graduates.
The mode of learning in college is collaborative learning wherein the student was assigned in a
group as a way to teach the students not only the content of the subject but also on how to
communicate effectively towards a common goal within a group. Assignments were given in a form of
essays, short and long-term projects, and research wherein students are in full control of their time but
they have to maintain discipline and focus. Every single day is different in a College student life, different
schedule, responsibilities and different amount of time. Organization and time management skills are
vital to schedule your tasks accordingly. Students have a flexible daily schedule. In College, student will
have a diverse social life for you will gain many new friends- from your studying spaces, from classes,
extracurricular activities and part-time work. This leads to a much richer social life.

INSTITUTIONAL OUTCOMES:
STI aims to build a student character making sure they abide to right etiquette and good manners
and right conduct and able to poster fairness and objectivity and self-improvement. STI develop critical-
thinking skills in students that foresee and able to pin-point problem areas at a given situation. STI mold
students to become a communicator and not a loner to be able to foster a student friendly relationship.
STI also develops student to cope with new surroundings and adopt change with a positive mindset no
matter what is the given situation.

boast student moral and guide them with a sense of direction to what a student must be, what
character they must possess and responsibilities they have to do as a student of STI institution.
The Creed simply instills in the students to thirst for knowledge and skills and don’t just sit around
without learning anything at the end of the day. The teacher’s impart their knowledge to the student in
order for them to be able to comprehend. The creed also reminds the student to act in right manner and
character that is acceptable in the school community.
