I believe that education is an individual, exceptional experience for every student who
enters a classroom. In order for children to benefit from what schools offer, I think that I must
fully understand the importance of my role as a future teachers. Teachers must facilitate learning
and growth academically, personally, and ethically. By providing a quality education to each
individual in one's classroom, a teacher equips children with the tools necessary for success in
life.
In order to accomplish these lofty goals, I think it is very important for me to establish
first a mutually respectful, honest empathy with students. To be a competent mentor to every
student, I must project positivity, exhibit flexibility and confidence, set high expectations for one
and demonstrate fairness.
I believe that all children have the ability to learn and the right to a quality education.
Certainly, every child has different learning styles and aptitudes; however, by having a personal
relationship with every student, a teacher can give each an equal chance of success. By
recognizing every student's potential and having separate, individual goals for each, a teacher can
accommodate personal needs and abilities and encourage the pursuit of academic aspirations.
I think that teaching and learning are reciprocal processes. When teachers nurture
individual talents in each child, educators can build self-esteem and may encourage a lifelong
skill.
In choosing to become a teacher, I have made the commitment to myself and my future
students to be the best academic, personal, and ethical role model I can be. It is my goal to have a
mutually enriching teaching career by keeping an open mind and continually communicating
with my peers and students. I am prepared to rise to the challenges of teaching and I promise to
try to provide an honest, straightforward, well-rounded education to every student I may
encounter.

INTRODUCTION
Field study 1 (The Learner’s Development and Environment) is 1-unit course offered to
those who enrolled in education course. It is one of the subject and a requirement under the
Experiential Learning Courses of the new teacher education curriculum which gives the
prospective teachers the chance to experience the life in actual learning environment. The
opportunities and experiences embedded in the course will enable him to meet challenges of real
learning environment. The varied requirements will help him cope with the demands of teaching
profession.
During observation, the field study student are seen and experienced the rudiments of
teaching in a cyclical process of observing, and evaluating learning process used by the teacher
in the classroom setting. She provides with opportunities to examine the application of teaching
theories and principles in the real learning atmosphere. The field study student observed and
verified the behaviour of the learners in the actual environment. Also, recognized the feasible
approaches to facilitate learning in handling different needs and abilities of the learners. She
shall provide a wide array of opportunities and challenges for self-reflection that would prepare
her to become a competitive future mentor. It is here where she puts into actual practise those
entries he learned in the professional subjects.

My Reflection
The School was surrounded by many trees, it is 50 meters away from the national road and it can
be accessible by any kinds of vehicles. The school is very peaceful because it is far from
disturbances.
The school was green which was pleasant to the eyes of the passers. Green grasses, colorful
flowers, tall and huge trees, spacious playground, clean comfort rooms and organized buildings.
And I considered it as an ideal school which gives students the scope and the spirit of healthy
learning environment.
The administrative centers, offices and faculty rooms are situated accordingly. SPA faculty
rooms are found in the SPA area while the Principal’s office was located at the side of the main
building so that it can easily be found by company, parents and even students.
While roaming around the school campus, I observed that the students are well-oriented for
observing cleanliness and proper sanitation. So far I didn’t see bulky amount of plastics and
papers being thrown on the hallway. I observed that the playground is not wide for the student to
play. The canteen of the school is not also that good because it did not established well, the foods
that they are selling are not enough to cater the snacks of the students.
I also observed that another building is on construction. They have also running water outside the
building. I observed also that when it rains the surrounding is muddy.

ACTIVITY 2
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND
LEARNING ACTIVITIES
________________________________________________________________________
Specific Tasks
1. Observe a class and document how time, space, material resources are managed in the
classroom to provide an atmosphere conducive to learning.
2. Documentary pictures with captions are necessary.
My Reflection
A campus of students and faculty who are focused on learning and who work together is
conducive to learning. Conducive school campus was the school having all the facilities that help
the student in there learning process. If the school is very clean, spacious, well lighted, well-
ventilated and it is free from the destruction like noise or pollution then I can consider it as an
effective learning environment. Universities are best example of this which is the learning
materials are complete, advance, sufficient and facilities are being prioritized.
For me a classroom which has a complete learning materials such as, visual aids, posters,
sayings, pictures, illustrations, pile of magazines and books, rules, routines, discipline and most
especially harmony between the teacher and the students. With these, it will be easier for the
teacher to impart knowledge and develop the physiological, physical, mental, social, and spiritual
aspect of the students.
With poor ventilation, all contaminants that may be present inside the classroom will
result more sick days and higher absenteeism. Therefore I conclude that students in well-
ventilated classrooms perform significantly better as a result the transfer of learning is effective.
As an observer, I tried to see around inside the classroom where I observed to see if it is
conducive for learning. What I loved most was their computer room, it was well-organized. With
that, the students who went to the computer room are not in chaos as a result seldom they were
noisy an aftermath it creates harmony in studying.

My Reflection
The graph above shows that those boys usually got the highest percentage of the
negative attitudes while the girls got the highest in positive attitudes.
As future teacher, I must have the conviction to teach and challenge the students to learn.
To address their needs, provide them with a variety of learning opportunities for effective
learning, such as using diversified resources, apply effective teaching methods, inculcating
values and motivation. Don’t focuses on a single textbooks or reference rather than make use of
a spectrum of intelligences and multi-sensory experiences to tap their different potential. Adopt
different modes of assessment to find their strength and weaknesses before deciding on the
appropriate topic and curriculums as well as teaching strategies for them.
Lastly, the actions taken cater their individual differences should involve understanding
why certain students are able or unable to learn well and find appropriate ways to help them
learn better. Address their needs at early stage by using co-operatives learning, adopting cross-
level subject setting, and varying teaching from their viewpoint and pacing learning according to
their abilities for them to become productive students.

Activity 4
My Reflection
Learners have their own attributes and characteristics. They have their own way of expressing
their feelings and behaviours. In classroom setting, I found out that students have different attitudes
and cultures. Others were talking with their classmates and not participating in the class activities.
There were learners wanted to have group activities while others preferred to do by themselves. It is
really true that every person has unique point of interest.
It is a teacher’s role to assess the knowledge of the learners. Teachers gave assessment to test
if the objectives of the lesson were being met or not. So as future mentor, I will use an effective way
of assessing student’s understanding. Give them learning activities based on the topic, their needs and
interest. Give remedial class, assignment and advance reading when necessary especially to those
slow learners for their practice. Apply a teaching strategy wherein every learner must ask to recite for
them to share their insights and opinions regarding the given lesson. Also, motivate them to catch
their attention to listen attentively. If the result of their activity is poor, make a way to apply another
assessment tools or teaching methods to ensure better learning achievements. Because I believed that
giving activities makes the classroom discussion interacting. Another, it helps them overcome their
shyness and gain more confidence.

Activity 5
Specific Tasks
1. “Shadow” at least two learners of different learning abilities.
2. Interview them and gather their background information.
3. Observe how they participate in a class activity.
4. Make learner’s profile of each of the learners you “shadowed” including description
of their learning behaviour.
The teacher started the class by requesting the students to clean up those mess in their
classroom by simply picking up some pieces of papers under their arm chairs. And then she
asked the students about their last topic as one of her daily routines inside the classroom. The
teacher asked students seating on the front about their previous topic and some of them proudly
raised their hands to answer the question.
The whole class interacts with the teachers’ discussion causing the flow to be lively and
enthusiastic. There topic was all about naming and balancing elements. There are some who
seems to be participative but on the other hand, some of them are not. Students who perform to
be participative and cooperative is always raising their hands even without being asked by their
teacher, typically they came from middleclass and they can finished task before deadline
compared to those low achievers in the class .
Many of the students are shy type. They are hesitated to involve themselves in the class
discussion. Their nature did not meet the standards of those high achievers in the class.
As a conclusion, I do believe that teachers are the backbone of the society. Without
teachers’ great works there will be no other professions.

Ms. Hazel Namuje is very active in the class. She is sociable and friendly lady. She knows how
to adjust herself to other people. If she does not understand the lesson she makes sure to ask
question for the teacher to explain the lesson again. She is industrious according to her
classmates and participates in any activities in the classroom. According to her mother, she wants
to become a doctor someday, they also work very hard for them to give their children their needs
in school. Ms. Joy Baguilat is a shy lady, she lives in Ala, Baguinge, Ifugao and 17 years of age.
She is in grade 10 and her dream is to be a successful policewoman someday. She is very helpful
and industrious student. She is also very quiet in school but when the teacher asks something to 13
her, she can answer it and if there is an activity given to them in class she can answer it on time.
My Reflection
My own observation match to the information shared by the teacher. I was able to
identify those students who perform well as well as to those students who don’t. I recognized
them the way they interact, the way they answer to the teachers’ questions. For an instance when
the teacher raised a question, they raised their hands immediately even without being requested
by their teacher. They answered the question correctly whereas student who did not perform
well, obviously he was not able to respond to different questions and I know it was due to several
factors which make some of them slow to their discussion. Some of them are shy, sleepy,
hungry, feel so hot and uncomfortable.
Based on the ability levels of the students, some of them are behind. Students who
perform well in the class are those students who are taken care of by their parents, in terms of
their basic needs. As I have observed, students who are not performing well in the classroom are
caused by many factors. Some of them are tired maybe because of work, sleepy because some
sleep late at night watching TV, shy, hungry because they just go to school without having a
breakfast and even don’t have money because of poverty. Some have family problems.
As a soon to be teacher, this activity is not only intended for me to have a good
observation but rather furnish me to become a competent educator someday. Through this, I can
prepare myself how to be an effective facilitator in the near future.
Effective methods and strategies that I will bear in my mind in the future is that I will
treat my students fairly and just, respect their differences, their interests, decisions, social
background, and most especially the variation of their abilities so that I could ensure that I
convene the needs of both high and low achievers in my class. I will avoid comparing and I will
never attempt from putting them down. Instead I will motivate and inspire them to strive hard for
their bright future. I will make sure that these things are embed in my heart and mind so that I
could understand my student’s personality, rapidity in managing tasks, interaction with teacher,
and as well as they interact with their classmates or even other people.

Family Profile
Parents
Mother: Jenny Binwag
Age: 40 years old
Occupation: Housewife
Educational attainment: College Level
Physical Development
The child is physically fit and healthy. She is very active in all activities. She can work 15
independently without the assistance of others.
Social Development
The learner is friendly and sociable. She interacts with her teacher, classmates
and friends outside the school. She learns to communicate with other respectfully. She knows
how to socialize other people in a good way.
Emotional-Moral Development
The child grows with self-confidence and assurance that her family will support her all the
way. From authoritative type of parenting she received love, respect and warmth from her
parents.
Cognitive Development
Her cognitive aspect continuously developed as she comes to school and study. She is not
the same as the other learner. She learns fast and participates actively during class activities.
Findings
I found out that the child is friendly, active and she likes to socialize with her peers. She
likes to play basketball and Volleyball that is why most of her friends are boys. She also
participates in school activities. The teacher that makes the child motivated to learn. She is
responsible in carrying and molding the cognitive, affective, psychomotor skills as well as the
total personality of the leaner.
Conclusions
I conclude that the school and home contributes a great impact in developing the cognitive, affective,
psychomotor and so as to the total personality of the pupils. Hence the learning of the child
begins at home. The child learns values, good attitude and discipline. However, school plays a
vital role in molding the child. Since the school is made for the purpose of developing
physical, social, emotional-moral and cognitive aspect of the learner. The total
development of the child depends in school as well as the teacher which is the most
important person in school that bears knowledge and values to share with the learner.
Recommendations
I therefore conclude that the school and home contribute a great impact in developing the
cognitive, affective, psychomotor and other domains of human development, and so as to the
total personality of the learners. Hence, the learning of the child begins at home. At home the
child learns values, works and her cognition slowly developed. However, school plays a vital
role in molding the child. Since school is made for the purpose of developing physical, social,
emotional, moral, psychological, spiritual and cognitive aspects of the learner. The child spends
more time in school rather than at home. So, the total development of a child depends in school
as well as the teachers, which are the most important agents in school that impart knowledge and
values to the learners.

My Reflection
When I was a child until this present, I observed that the style of parenting I have is
Authoritative, wherein my parents are loving despite of being firm. They treat us with respect
and warmth. They always remind us about the consequences of our behaviour. They give us
clear and reasonable expectations.
And I am so blessed for having parents like them, because they molded me into a better
person. I inherited the attitude of my mother which is being understanding and loving. I could
still manage any circumstances that come into my life for I always had patience in making or
doing things. As a future teacher, I could establish good home-school collaboration by observing
the behavior of the learner in my class. I would be responsible enough on their attitude for
instance, if ever there is a trouble behind that creates a conflict, problems in my students
immediately I will call the parents of the learners and I will also inform the parents about the
performance of their child in my class. Through this parent-teacher communication, I can say
there is a good relationship between home-school links.
Specific Task
1. Interview a teacher and get advices to be successful in teaching profession.
Mr. Ian Jake B. Cumaldi is a T.L.E and MAPEH at National High School. He is from
Munggayang, Kiangan, Ifugao but now his resident address is in Baguinge, Ifugao. During my
interview with him, I was so impressed because I can see in his face the happiness of being a
teacher that even though sometimes the students are very noisy in the class he can always
manages it. He shared also his experiences in becoming successful in the teaching profession, he
need to gather patience in handling the students in his class. He is also open-minded to any
comments that his co-teachers. Being optimistic also is one secret to be successful and
perseverance. To be successful also according to him is be industrious, helpful and most of all is
be prayerful because prayer is very helpful in daily life.

General Reflection/ Learning Insights
In teaching, our role as a teacher is not only to talk, teach, record grades and submit it to
the authority. The main purpose of teaching is focused on the learners. They are the center of our
instructions that is why we must know their nature and how they act in school.
There are learners who are very active and seemed restless. Some are just quiet and timid.
Some have unpolished talents and some have well-exposed skills. As a future teacher, I realized
that I should know each of my students. I should know their nature. I should impose some
questions like why are they acting that way? Are their nature suits my teaching? Despite their
individual differences, could they be interested on how I will manage my instruction? Does my
instruction fit my learners? Do the smart ones be reinforced with this method? Could the slow
learners understand well if I will make this instruction? Is the environment conducive to
learning? All of these must be answered by the teacher.
However, having knowledge about the Cognitive Learning Theory of Piaget and others,
we could manage the learner’s ability to think. We could estimate our instructions if it suits their
level of thinking. Being knowledgeable about learners’ behavior as what Pavlov, Skinner and
Thorndike have proposed, it would be easier for us to manage their behavior in some relative
situations. Knowing how Bandura explained his Social Learning Theory, we could facilitate
them by giving examples of behavior you want them to do. Furthermore, equipping ourselves on
the learning theories proposed by Ausubel, Lewin and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence, we can
make use of varied instructions for the diverse thinking of our learners.
Indeed as a teacher, I should be very much aware of the needs and behaviors of our
learners in order for me to plan and make my instruction effective I should be knowledgeable
enough on their behavior so that I could encourage them and so that I could catch their field of
interest. I believe that if they find learning interesting, it would continue throughout their lives.
