The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a fighter aircraft with a single engine that can perform

multiple roles. It was initially developed by General Dynamics for the US Air Force (USAF). It started out
as a day fighter for air superiority and evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. The
Fighting Falcon's key features include a frameless bubble canopy for good visibility, a side-mounted
control stick to ease control while maneuvering, an ejection seat reclined 30 degrees from vertical to
reduce the effect of g-forces on the pilot, and the first use of a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire flight
control system that helps to make it an agile aircraft. Although the U.S. Air Force no longer purchases
the aircraft, improved versions are being built for export customers. The F-16 has 11 places to mount
weapons and other mission equipment, including an internal M61 Vulcan cannon. The F-16's official
name is "Fighting Falcon," but its pilots and crews often call it "Viper" because of its resemblance to a
viper snake and to the fictional Colonial Viper starfighter from the television show Battlestar Galactica,
which aired at the time the F-16 entered service.[8][9] The aircraft is also used by the U.S. Air Force
Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team and the United States Navy as an adversary/ag The F-16 has
also been purchased for use in the air forces of 25 additional nations.[10] As of 2015, it had the most
fixed-wing aircraft currently in use by the military.[11]
