    1. Attempt any FIVE question(s), ea ch que stion c arrie s 12 marks.

    1. Describe in brief the protective devices used for protection of equipment against traveling
    wave.
    2. Discuss the symmetrical components method to analyze an unbalanced system.
    3. Write a note on Evolution of Power Systems and Present-Day Scenario.
    4. Determine the inductance of Peterson coil to be connected between the neutral and ground
    to neutralize the charging current of overhead line having the line to ground capacitive of
    0.15μf. If the supply frequency is 50Hz and the operating voltage is 132 KV, find the KVA
    rating of the coil.
    5. Write a note on Series and Shunt Compensation of transmission lines.
    6. What are the various types of faults? Discuss their frequency of occurrence and severity.
    Find the fault current when an L-L-G fault occurs at the terminals of an unloaded
    generator.
    7. Explain the procedure for making short circuit studies of a large power system using digital
    computer. Illustrate the answer by considering a symmetrical fault.
    8. Explain any two application of solar PV systems with block diagrams. With a neat
    diagram, explain the Grid connected PV systems.
