3.1 General
All software is installed from installation disks. There are two kinds of
installation disks: ETools installation disks, and software package
installation disks.

ETools installation disk includes the program files of the ETools

program. The data related to different systems is supplied with the
software package installation disks. Each software package disk
includes the system data (all parameters and module programs) of one
certain program version of one certain system.

The PC-CAN card (along with its software) must be installed to

computer before the installation of ETools. The card is installed into the
computer's PCMCIA card slot according to the instructions which came
along with the card.

NOTE!

When updating ETools to a newer version, remove the older version of

ETools from computer first (see chapter 4. Software uninstalling for
details).

Explanations for the ETools software directories

– Program Files / Epec / ETools 32 is a directory for the ETools
program files.
– Program Files / Epec / ETools 32 / Filesys is a directory for the file
exchanging between computer and display module.
– Program Files / Epec / ETools 32 / Param is a directory for the
system files saved by user.
– Program Files / Epec / ETools 32 / Release is a directory for the
software packages. In this directory there are sub-directories for each
installed system, and in the system directories there are sub-
directories for each installed program version.

NOTE!

The directory names and paths mentioned above are valid only if the
program files are installed according to the default settings.
Instructions for use ETools 9

4 SOFTWARE UNINSTALLING

There are two different ETools software types you can remove from
computer: the ETools program files, and the software package files.
Both software types are uninstalled by the same way. If software is
uninstalled accidentally, it has to be re-installed before it can be used
again.

Software package uninstalling

– The more common way is to uninstall software packages.
– It is reasonable to remove software packages when you have finished
working with a certain program version of a certain system, and you
are sure that you don't need the system files anymore.
– The software package uninstall removes the files of the specified
program version of the specified system. The rest of the installed
software packages, as well as the ETools program files, are not
removed.

ETools uninstalling
– ETools uninstalling removes the ETools program files from computer.
– ETools should be uninstalled only in two occasions:
♦ When updating to a newer ETools program version
♦ When you are sure that you don't need the ETools program
anymore
– Uninstalling ETools doesn't remove the software packages. The
software packages will however come useless, since they are
operated through ETools. Therefore, if you won't be needing ETools
anymore, you should also remove the software packages.

Software uninstalling
1. Open the My computer window.
2. Open Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs symbol.
4. Select the program to be removed (ETools or one of the software
packages) from the program list and click the Add/Remove button.
5. Confirm the program uninstalling by clicking Yes.

WARNING!

When ETools is removed from computer, all the installed software

packages will come useless. When uninstalling the ETools program, be
sure that you won't need to operate the software packages with the
computer anymore!
