ABSTRACT
Good morning everyone. Welcome to our group 2. Today, let’s discuss with us
about online shopping. Online shopping is the easy solution for busy life in today’s
world. In the past decade, there had been a massive change in the way of customer’s
shopping. Instead of buying from a physical store, customers find it more convenient
and time-saving to shop online. Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce
which allows consumers to directly purchase products or services from seller over the
internet using web browser. So, have you ever wondered what makes you decide to
buy something online? According to our data collection, there are 4 basic reasons
affecting your online purchase decision.
For online shoppers, financial risk is always a top concern. Financial risk refers
to the perception that a certain amount of money could be lost while purchasing
products online.
For instance, young people who are less worried about financial risks are more
likely to shop online because it saves time and energy. You can imagine that when
you want to buy products, so you have to go to brick-and-mortar stores to shop. To get
there, it means you wasted your time because of the traffic. But when you arrived at
the store, sometimes the products you wanted had been sold out. But you won’t see
this problem when you are shopping online. You just need to stay at home and wait
for the delivery.
On the other hand, older generations whose behaviors are more skeptical when
making purchases online. They are low-tech and part of it is that they are used to the
traditional way of shopping which is to go to the store or the market, look and make a
choice to buy the necessary things.
Let’s continue with another factor that affects your decision to purchase online.
PRODUCT RISK
Product Risk:
One of the benefits of shopping in a traditional brick and mortar store is being
able to have the product in front of the customer. This allows for the retailer to
manage the expectations that a customer has when they are purchasing a product. In e-
commerce, online stores try to limit product risk by giving accurate descriptions of
products and the ability to zoom in on the product pictures to give the client an
accurate expectation of the product
Convenience
Let’s move on to another factor that has a great effect on your decision to buy
products online. When you shop online, convenience is a top priority. It is the biggest
perk. Where else can you comfortably shop at midnight while in your pajamas? There
are no lines to wait in or cashiers to track down to help you with your purchases, and
you can do your shopping in minutes.
Online shops give us the opportunity to shop 24/7 and also reward us with a 'no
pollution' shopping experience. There is no better place to buy informational products
like e-books, which are available to you instantly as soon as the payment goes
through. Downloadable items purchased online eliminate the need for any kind of
physical material at all, as well, which helps the environment!
Moreover, it doesn't require you to actually go to the store. Just to physically go
to a store, you need a way to get there. Not only do you waste gas driving to the store,
but it takes precious time out of your day. Compare that to the convenience of online
shopping, which on many major sites has become a one-click affair. Payment details,
such as credit card information, can be securely stored for an easy shopping
experience. There's no need to drive to the store to pick up products. This brings us to
another convenient aspect of buying online: speed.
One of the most enjoyable conveniences of online shopping is the ability to shop
for products or services at a time that is convenient for the consumer. Online retailers
accept orders twenty-four hours a day while consumers who wish to shop at
traditional stores have to be available to visit the store during normal business hours.
This can be a major inconvenience, especially for shoppers who work long hours or
shoppers who work odd hours. Online shopping eliminates this concern because
shoppers can simply access online stores from their computers whenever they have
free time available.
Another convenience of online shopping is the ability to order products from
around the world. Shoppers are no longer limited to products offered by local retailers
because the vast majority of online retailers offer to ship to many different locations.
This can make it easy for online shoppers to acquire hard-to-find items or items which
are a regional specialty of a particular area.
Delivery
The biggest and best shipping companies and online retailers have their bad
days, so there's no way to ensure that you'll get your hands on your purchase in
time unless you pick it up from a store. Your items maybe get lost, damaged, or
delivered to the wrong address more often than you can imagine.
Sometimes buyers have to face an unexpected delay in the delivery of the
booked item. Sometimes, your order is delayed due to a problem in the shipping
process.
Booking an order hardly takes five minutes, but its delivery sometimes takes a
delay of 5-10 days. Especially for products from the international store, it takes a
long time from the time when you click the BUY button until the shipper delivers it to
you. That's why many people are afraid to order from an international store
