Moviemaking Software to Create a Multimedia Presentation: Adding

Effects and Transition, and Music to the video.

Note: During discussion, you should have your own computer so that you can apply
immediately the editing procedure. Be sure that the software of your choice is already
installed in your computer and all the video and audio clips is already saved in your
computer.

Steps in Creating Multimedia Presentation Using a

Moviemaking Software

How to make a cool video? Besides creativities, you may also need a video
editing software which allows you to add some cool video effects. Actually it's much
simpler than you might expect if you use cool video editor which enables you to easily
trim videos, add voice narration or a music sound track from your personal collection
and add cool effects and give your plain old home videos the extra touch that makes
them more special.
This lesson will guide you about how to add cool effects and transition and
music for making your video turn out to be a stunning masterpiece which is really
fantastic to share with your family and friends on YouTube or Facebook.

A. Adding Transitions

Transition video effect is used to be more visual and obvious when

playing back one scene to another. Namely, it is what the scene showing
between two clips. There are three transition categories: cuts, dissolves and
wipes. Each creates a different emotion and each is used for different things.
Add transitions when trimming is complete.

Step 1: To add transitions between two clips, or add an overlay or filter

video effect to video. Click on Transition in the Toolbar. Select your
preferred transition effects. e. g “Fade”

Figure 1: Adding transition

Step 2: Click and go to the corresponding tab and drag and drop the target
video effects to videos figure 1.
Step 3: You can preview the video if the transition effects is already applied.

B. Adding Effects
Now it's time to add cool effects to your video. Effects are the fun part,
but adding effects when the story isn't complete is a waste of time. Also, plan
to spend FAR more time working on effects than you ever expect. Because
effects take time to look perfect.

Step 1: Click on Effects in the Toolbar. Select your preferred Effects

e. g “Equalize”.
Step 2: Click the “Effect” button in the toolbar to switch to the “Effect” tab
as shown in figure 2. Here you will see filters and overlays effects
for you to choose.

Figure 2: Adding Effects

Step 3: You can preview the video if the effects is already applied.

C. Adding Audio Effects and Music

The audio or music of video can have a dramatic effect on our
perception of a video – no matter whether it’s a home movie, a commercial, or
a video presentation.

I. Adding Audio Effects

The best way to improve the quality of your picture is to improve your
sound. Remember not all audio effects are appropriate to your video. You must
think about what type of video you’re creating.

Step 1: Click on Audio in the Toolbar. Select your preferred Audio Effects
e.g “Atomic Bomb”.
Step 2: Click and drag the audio effects below the clips in the timeline as
shown in figure 3.

Figure 3: Adding Audio Effects and music

Step 3: You can preview the video if the effects is already applied.

II. Adding Music

It’s pretty simple to add music to a video. In this section, we’ll assume
you have the music file you want to use. There’s a difference between adding
music and adding the right music. Before you choose your music, think about
what type of video you’re creating.

Note: Always remember most of the music you own is effectively off-
limits. That music is copyrighted and, if you use it, you’ll owe the
copyright owner money (called “royalties”) for every time someone views
your video.
So where do you find the music you can use? Well, unless you want to
compose your own music, the easiest answer lies in royalty-free
music.

Step 1: Once you’ve imported your music file, find it in the media bin, click
on it, then drag and drop it to the timeline as shown figure 4.

Figure 4: Adding Music

Step 2: Adjust the Music audio to fit your needs. To change the settings,
just double click the audio file on the timeline and drag the slide bar
variety of audio editing tools are available: set volume, speed up,
slow down, change pitch and add fade in/out effect as shown in
figure 5. Hit "Return" to confirm the settings and go back to the main
interface.

In the Audio Effects menu, there are additional options for adjusting
audio. For example, adding a Fade Out at the end of your video clip can help
avoid a potentially jarring abrupt ending.
Figure 5: Adjusting Music Audio

Note:

• Make sure the music isn’t so loud that it makes the narration
difficult to hear or understand.
• Typically, you can add your own voiceover to video, or detach the original
audio from video and replace with your own voiceover or music file.
Whichever you choose, you can adjust the audio settings to get a better
result.

D. Output your Project

When everything is done, output your project and save all your media in
case you ever need to re-edit it.

Besides export video your computer, you can also create video for devices
like the iPhone, iPad, iPod, directly upload video to YouTube, or burn to DVD
for playing on TV. All in one video editor, no extra software required .

Step 1: To export your video to your computer, click the export button and
choose the Local tab. Then, select the format you want to export in.
Currently, Filmora9 supports the following formats: WMV, MP4,
AVI, MOV, F4V, MKV, TS, 3GP, MPEG-2, WEBM, GIF and MP3.
Click "Create" and select "Format".
Figure 6: Exporting Video

Step 2: From the list, choose any format you want as the output format as
shown in figure 6. If necessary, also change the advanced settings.
Finally, click "Create" button to export a new video file to the
specified folder on computer.
Step 3: After selecting the output format, you can rename the video and
change the location on your computer where you save it. You can also
check the output resolution, frame rate, size, and duration before you
export. To change your export settings (i.e. resolution, bit rate, and
frame rate) click the SETTINGS button.

Step 4: In the settings window there are three quality levels: Best, Better and
Good. The only difference among them is the Bit Rate. You are able to
adjust this or other parameters, such as Resolution, and Frame Rate
in this window as shown in figure 7.

Figure 7: Adjusting Quality levels

Note: It is best to export your video with the same settings as your
original video.

Step 5: When you’re finished adjusting your export settings, press OK to save
them. Then, after you have closed the Settings window, press the
Export button in the Export window.

Step 6: Save Your Settings for Future Exports.

Note:

• The size of the video depends on the length of the project

and the bit rate. If the file size looks too big, you can try
changing the bit rate in the Settings window to make it
smaller.
• If you want to export HEVC, you need to upgrade the latest
Windows 10 and install the HEVC video extensions by
Microsoft.
