Introduction
VOX Tone Room is an application that allows you to edit various parameters of the VOX products
from your PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad/Android, and allows you to manage your programs and
transmit/receive them with your computer. The edits that you make are immediately sent to the VOX
products so that you can check the sounds as you edit them. Since VOX Tone Room can graphically
display many parameters at once, all the capabilities of the VOX products can be handled more easily.
VOX Tone Room is also useful as a librarian for managing all your sounds and settings.
To use this software with your VOX Product, you need a USB cable to connect with computer.
You also need an Apple USB camera adapter (sold separately) to use this software with an Apple
iOS device. You also need an OTG cable (sold separately) to use this software with an Android
device.
This software is for the sole use of the customer for trial purposes only and not for copying or
distributing. VOX Amplification Ltd. or any of its affiliates will not be held liable for any damage that
may result in the use of this software. VOX does NOT officially support this software.

Setup
Install VOX USB-MIDI Driver in order to use Windows/Mac edition of Tone Room.
Both Windows and Mac versions of the VOX USB-MIDI Driver can be downloaded from the VOX
website. (www.voxamps.com)
Connect the VOX Product to the computer, and then launch VOX Tone Room.
The user programs are sent from the VOX Product and assigned to the User Program Button.
Android: When you first launch Tone Room, the app will automatically detect, and inform you, if
the Android device you're using does not support MIDI / USB Host / Bluetooth LE.
Do not operate the connected product while program data is being sent.
Do not disconnect the USB cable, or turn the VOX Product off while working with Tone Room. It
may affect your program data and information may be lost.
When the VOX Tone Room is launched without connecting any supported VOX products, the
"Select target device" window will appear.
If the connection fails between your smart phone/tablet and VOX product, close Tone Room as
follows, then restart the app.
iOS: Double-click the Home button to reveal your open apps. Swipe the Tone Room up from the
app switcher display. For iOS devices without the Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the
screen and stop your finger to displey the list of open apps.
Android: Touch (the Overview button) at the bottom of screen to open a list of apps you've
worked with recently. Swipe the thumbnail images of Tone Room left or right. For Android devices
without the button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see the list of open apps. Swipe
the Tone Room up on the list.
Librarian Operation
The librarian functions of Tone Room allow you to manage user programs on your VOX Product.
Choose a Program
You can choose a program by clicking the Program button.
The program data is immediately sent to the VOX Product so that you can check your sounds.
When a program is selected from the File Program list, the data will be transmitted to the temporary
memory on the VOX Product and not saved to the user program memory.
User Program buttons are always linked to the VOX Product. When you click a user program button,
the VOX Product will behave the same as when you press the buttons on the panel/footswitch.
In Windows/Mac/iPad/Android Tablet, you can also use the "Load USER PROGRAMS" button.
You can drag the background of the Current Program section to store the current program as a
User/File Program.
The previous User Program in the VOX Product will be overwritten when you copy a program to
one of the User Program buttons.
Since the Tone Room controls your VOX Product in real time, you can edit and test the sound
immediately.
Knobs
You can tweak the knob value by clicking and dragging the icon
vertically, using a mouse scroll wheel above the icons (left figure).
[Windows/Mac] You can adjust the value of the selected knob (right
figure) by up and down arrows.
Naming a program
To name a program, click on the space above the EDITOR Window. You can type a name when the
cursor appears. Press the return key to confirm.
Android: "Gboard - the Google Keyboard" is recommended to operate this application properly.
If you have Windows/Mac/iPad/Android Tablet version of Tone Room, Write Function button is
available as below.
To recall your USER A/B/C setting by AMP MODEL knob, select MANUAL MODE or USER
PROGRAM MODE. In PRESET PROGRAM MODE, all parameters except the type of AMP
MODELS (including AMP parameters, GAIN etc) will be set.
To store the current AMP and EFFECT setting into VT20X/40X/100X, drag the AMP or EFFECT icons
from the CURRENT PROGRAM SECTION to USER SETTING SECTION, the view will be switched to
CUSTOM AMP/FX SETTING and release the icons above the corresponding area.
EFFECT settings can be stored in the corresponding area.
To see the current setting on your VT20X/40X/100X, select the CUSTOM AMP/FX tab and click or tap
the AMP/EFFECT icon desired.
Click the AMP/EFFECT setting in CUSTOM AMP/FX tab, its setting will be loaded into the current
program.
About Data Files
The program files saved by “Save As…” and “Save USER PROGRAMS As…”
command have the *.vtxprog extension.
Windows/Mac
You can launch the Tone Room by double-clicking the data file with “vtxprog” extension.
iOS
It supports application file sharing with iTunes. For details on file sharing, please refer to Apple's
support page.
Android
You can copy or erase files from your PC connected via USB (File Transfer Mode) or other Data Filer
application.
"vtxprog" files are supported.
System Requirements

Connection failure may occur on some Android devices that support the requirements, since the
Android manufactures customize their own devices.
About the Amp Models and Effect Types
Amp Models
DELUXE CL VIBRATO
This models the Vibrato channel of a 22W blackface 60’s designed amp. Using 6V6 power tubes and
a tube-driven spring reverb, this produced a big sound at a lower wattage.

This models the clean channel of a high-quality amp that was produced only on special order, and was

sweet treble register, this is ideal for single coil pickups.
BOUTIQUE OD
This models the overdrive channel of a high-quality amp that was known as the Overdrive Special,
which was produced only by special order. The wonderful sustain obtained by raising the GAIN control
is smooth and soulful.
VOX AC30
This models the Normal channel of the AC30.The clear high range of the Celestion alnico “Blue”
speaker, as well as the rich midrange, deliver a captivating clean sound.
VOX AC30TB
This models an AC30 amp with the “top boost” circuit of the 1964 AC30. It delivers a smooth and
refined top end, a majestically deep overdrive, and a rich, brilliant clean sound.
BRIT 1959 TREBLE
This models the high treble channel of a classic hand-wired head made in England during the early
60’s. Raising the volume of this 100W amp all the way produces the signature crunch that will forever
be the sound of rock‘n’roll.

BRIT 800
This models a British 100W single-channel head with master volume that was made in 1983. Turn the
GAIN control all the way up to get the thick, snarling hard rock and heavy metal sound that dominated
the 80’s.
BRIT VM
This models an English-made 100W amp head released in 2007 that boasts a four-channel design
with powerful tone. We’ve used the “Overdrive 2” channel, which produces a tight low-end and
transparent high-gain metal sound.
SL-OD
This models the overdrive channel of a snakeskin-covered 100W amp head built in 1991. With an
open low-end and a compressed mid/high range, its powerful, heavy sound delivers a forceful tone
that will not break down even with the most extreme gain settings.
DOUBLE REC
This models the modern high-gain channel from a wild beast of an amp. Its deep and loose low-end,
sparkling highs, and monstrous gain are ideal for guitars tuned as low as possible, or for metal acts
wielding seven-string guitars.
CALI ELATION
This models a 100W boutique amp head manufactured in North Hollywood.This amp can be switched
between power tube class AB or class A modes; the class AB mode produces richovertones and
features a highly musical response.

guitar hero known for his “brown sound.”
BOUTIQUE METAL
This models the crushing high-gain sound that emanated from a German-made 100W four-channel
amp head. We chose the “Heavy” channel, which delivers a startling tightness when played with a
dropped-D metal tuning.
BRIT OR MKII
This is based on a distinctly colored British 100W head that features two channels and a tube driven
spring reverb. This amp model delivers everything from characteristic British crunch, perfect for classic
rock and blues, to modern, high-gain sounds, ideal for hard rock and metal.
ORIGINAL CLEAN
This is a VOX original high-end amp model with crystal clean sound. This delivers sweet, clean sound
by matching preamp gain with your guitar.
PEDAL1 Effects
COMP
This models a compressor that produces a clean, percussive and mellow sustain.
SENS Adjusts the sensitivity. Turn the knob toward the right to increase the compression and sustain.
LEVEL Adjusts the output level.
ATTACK Adjusts the speed of the compressor's response.
VOICE Adjusts the attenuation and response of the low-frequency range.
CHORUS
TUBE OD
This models a well-known overdrive pedal in a green box. The unique warmth of its sound has made it
a classic effect.
GOLD DRIVE
This models an overdrive unit named after a half-human half-horse creature from Greek mythology.
When the gain is lowered, this acts as a booster that preserves the original sound of the guitar.
Raising the gain makes this function as an overdrive with a rich mid-range.
TREBLE BOOST
This models the treble booster built into the VOX VBM-1, which was designed for use with the VOX
AC30.It adds “crunch” to overdrive sound.
RC TURBO
This models a booster pedal in white. It's ability of boosting with warmth and a wide range EQ make it
suitable for many situations.

Based on a pedal named after one of the most disliked rodents to ever walk the planet! The result is a
smooth distortion, rich in harmonics... nasty but nice.
BRIT LEAD
This models a pedal that was nicknamed “The Leader”. It is a British Overdrive designed to give more
power and punch to any amp.
