This document describes how to create and reinstall a recovery image of the system parti‐
tion on FLUOROSPOT Compact-based systems with the COBR (CO Backup Restore) tool.
An initial recovery image was created by the factory.
All the recovery images reside in:
Service:\<Date_and_Time stamp>\BACKUP_OF_PARTITION1_D_FLC.gho (Service:\ - Par‐
tition on 2nd HDD).
The recovery image has to be restored if there is a PC replacement, the system HDD is
replaced or because of corrupted software.
A new recovery image must be generated in the following situations:
n Following a SW update (Update Instructions), whereby the system SW was changed.
n If the PC or primary HDD was replaced.
n After a service CD (e.g. MS Hot Fix) has been installed.
Perform the following work steps prior to generating a new recovery image:
- Install the SW according to the appropriate UI.
- Restore the FL-C / System backup.
- Create a new recovery image according to the following pages.

1.6 Creating a Recovery Image of the System Partition

 The time stamp of the file created will not be correct. It will differ by several whole hours
(depending on the time zone) from the correct local time.

1.6.1 Prerequisites
n The system must be in good working condition.

1.6.2 Materials Required

n.a.

1.6.3 Booting the COBR Application from the 2nd HDD

n Switch ON the system if it is still powered OFF.
n The PC will now start to reboot.
- Press the <F12> key several times while the FL-C reboots.
 The boot menu appears.
n A pop-up appears which prompts the user to enter the password. It is the same as the

19'' DSB1906-DC black/white displays (Mat. No. 8677051):
the cursor position is not visible in the Boot menu. In order for the cursor to be rendered
 visible, the video signal mode must be changed temporarily from “Monochrome” to
“RGB” on the affected display. Afterwards, reset the video signal mode from “RGB” back
to “Monochrome”.
For details, refer to ( Changing the video signal mode (optional) / Page 34).

For Cios Systems: Select <P1:...> in the Boot menu that follows by using the down
arrow key.
n For RFU Systems: Select <P1:...> / <SATA 1: ...> respectively <SATA SM: ...> in the
Boot menu that follows by using the down arrow key.
n Press Return ↵ to confirm.
 The PC will now boot from the COBR application from the 2nd HDD.

In rare cases it may happen, that instead of the COBR application, the FL-C boots-up in‐

 stead.
Remedy: start all over.

1.6.4 Creating a Recovery Image of the System Partition

Bootup takes approx. 2 minutes.

 Be patient; do not touch the keyboard or mouse during this time.

Wait until the following screen appears.

Please note that depending on the system SW version, the drive letters of the partitions
in the COBR Disk Backup Mask will differ.

For example, (D): FL-C or (C:) FL-C.
Never refer to drive letters!
Always refer to the drive name <<FL-C>> / <<Service>>, regardless of the drive let‐
ter!

Rebuilding the Image Partition

The following work steps need to be performed only if:

n the primary HDD (System Disk)
or
the complete PC (including a new System Disk)

n

was replaced.
Rebuilding the image partition does not need to be done if only a recovery image was
restored, e.g. due to corrupt software.
If rebuilding the image partition is done while an image partition still exists, all patient
images will be deleted without possibility of recovery!!

n After restoring the recovery image, the image partition (D:\ partition) needs to be cre‐
ated. This is can be achieved by using the FL-C SSW.
- Log in to the service software.
- Start the FL-C SSW.
- Select <System> <System Boot>.
- Press <Exit to OS>.
- Enter the reboot password and press <GO>.

1.10 Restoring available RUH Packages

n There are certain conditions in which a RUH package that was already installed previ‐
ously, is no longer installed. This might be the case after:

a) Restoring a recovery image which does not contain the RUH package(s)
b) Reinstallation of the system software
c) Replacing the primary harddisk (which leads to: a) restoring a recovery image)
d) Replacing the PC (which leads to: a) restoring a recovery image)
n All the RUH packages which were pushed from the remote server to the system are
archived automatically on the second harddisk (service partition) on the FL-C. The
path is Z:\MedHome\sd_store.
Fig. 24: RUH Packages on the 2nd HDD (Service Partition)

n How to find out if all available RUH packages for the system are already installed in
the current SW installation
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to Z:\MedHome\sd_store.
- Check for available (archived) RUH packages, ( Fig. 24 Page 30).
n Open a second Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\MedHome\sd_store.
 If all the packages located in Z:\MedHome\sd_store are also available in C:
\MedHome\sd_store, the current SW installation is up-to-date. No further ac‐
tion is required!
 If packages are present in Z:\MedHome\sd_store which are NOT present in C:
\MedHome\sd_store, install the package(s) according to the appropriate Up‐
date Instructions!
n After this is done, create an up-to-date recovery image.
n A technical info is published in the CS Knowledge Base (SKB0037721). This is a refer‐
ence table for all RuH packages that have been released for the RFU platform. To make
sure if a package applies to a particular system, contact your dispatch/ USC/RSC.

1.11 Preparing the 2nd HDD, Service Disk

The 2nd HDD (Service Disk) contains of two partitions:
- COBR partition (Y:\, hidden)
- Service partition (Z:\)

The COBR partition is bootable and can be selected from the Boot menu.
It is the second device from top in the boot menu.
The Service partition serves as a storage medium for system backups and RUH packages.

The 2nd HDD is available as a spare part and it is blank if shipped from CS stocks. There‐
fore a menu entry exists in the Windows Start menu (Prepare 2nd HDD) when the FL-C is
booted. This script will prepare the structure and the contents of the 2nd HDD.
The disk capacity and material number of System HDD and 2nd HDD (Service Disk) are
identical. Hence there is only one material number which serves as spare part for both,
system disk and 2nd HDD (Service Disk).
