GOOD SHEPHERD OUTREACH MISSIONS STATEMENT

GOOD SHEPHERD, vision is to see a just society devoid of human suffering in all forms
through the empowerment of women, children and youths and capacity building as a
means to achieve self-reliance and independence living.

THE FOUNDATION mission is to support and promote the welfare of people in their
quest to achieve Social Justice and improvement into their lives through a participatory
growing process irrespective of Tribe, Religion, Gender and Nationality.

GOAL: the main goal is to restore human dignity and self- esteem already lost by
providing livelihood and economic support for all the communities we operate.
Following our recent needs assessment visit to Rokel in the Western Urban and the
Songo community women, children and youths lamented over the increasing
marginalization and Neglect of their communities in terms of infrastructural
development, Food security, unemployment Education and poor health facilities. This
village is mostly deprived and neglected among the sixteendistricts in Sierra Leone.
There is no Electricity, pip borne water and the Education and Health conditions are
poor. The plight of women in these two communities remains vulnerable. Few girls
attend schools and most of them dropout and forced into early marriage. Rape sexual
abused is on a high commercial increase and commercial sex workers. Youth poverty
and unemployment is veryhigh among the women. The women do more farm work,
spend longer hours in the garden but their income earning is very low. They are the
bread winners. Majority of the school going children are from poor family background
especially the girls. The girls support the home together with the mothers. This is the
one of the main factors responsible for early pregnancy, commercial sex workers and
early marriage. Education is not their priority.

During the survey, we learnt that if these women and girls are support with micro
financing and train in small scale business positiveimpacts into their lives, since youth
engagement is very high in Agriculture, and the women are also familiar with assorted
vegetable in this sector, it will help to reduce the above mention factors.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of this proposal is to create skill employment for the women and girls and
to improve their income base bysupporting increased food production, micro financing
and supply of rice seed, groundnuts vegetables seeds and other planting materials.

1. Working update on activities to be Implemented for 2023 to 2025

 Agriculture – Rice and Cassava farms in two schools managed and establish by
GSOM Assistance to kombra women training center mainly for teen mothers,
sexually abused women and sex workers.
 Support to schools in Songo, Rokel, Makeni, Bo and Kono through Human
Resources and Psycho – social services. (Counseling).
 A base line survey on Corona survivors, widows, orphans and street children.
 Targeting and categorization of the less privileged children who have dropped out of
school due to lack of basic learning materials and social benefactors welfare. Like
food, clothing, shelter.

EXPECTED OUTCOME – RESULTS

At the end of this project, it is expected that the women and girls of this project will
regain their self-respect and dignity once lost. It will also reduce commercial sex, early
pregnancy among the girls. Rapes cases will also be minimized as the boys will also be
highly engaged on the farm. A successful implementation of this project will increased
the income earning power of the project beneficiaries and enhance a reduction in crime
rate and Anti – social behaviors in the project communities. Poverty will be reduced.
There will be enough food on the table.
IMPLEMENTING STRATEGIES

Project beneficiaries will be encouraged to own the project and participate effectively in
all the project activities. The community will be the focus point of action. They will be
organized in groups and each group will have a credible and a reliable leader elected by
the members. She will be charged with the responsibility of project resources and
activities within their group.

A training will be conducted on small scale business scheme. A policy will be developed
on financial management. A micro finance scheme mechanism will also be explain then
ensure repayment rate for the sustainability of the project. They should know that others
must also be engaged on productive petty trading that increase their earning. It will be
decided on payment condition by the management and how much.

SUSTAINABILITY OF THE PROJECT

The project is virtually going to be won by the beneficiaries. The sustainability of the
project lies in their hands. They will be sensitized and educated on how to use the
money what to buy. Commodities that are perishable should not be bought. Goods
should be bought according to the taste of the community. They should also think about
the location of the business. They are to take this project as their own body.

MONITORING OF THE PROJECT

Regular monitoring and supervision will be carried on by the project manager and the
monitoring and Evaluation officer.

Meetings should be held between the beneficiary and the implementing organization to
measure the impact results and the socio economic impact.

Monthly project report on the status of loan payment submitted to the executive officer
and donors.

Final evaluation of the intervention will be done by a joint team of partners and the
implementing organization.
THE SCHOOL SUPPORT PROJECT.
1. This components is one of the major activities within our structures because most of
the school going children targeted are very vulnerable and deprived, most of them
cannot even afford a pair of uniforms or shoes. Some do not eat before coming to
school and even after school. The parents survive through vegetable production and
petty trading. It is really a problem even for us, because we are also cash trapped.
However we encouraged them to embark on large scale rice and cassava
production. Through community self-help projects. The children need help and the
parents.
2. HELP has been organizing workshops for vulnerable women and girls, sexually
abused and commercial sex workers of which we need a training center for start off.
3. This center will cater for teen mothers, sexually abused, landslides Ebola and
Corona survivors including commercial sex workers. The center will offer the
following courses that will last for the period of two years.
1. Catering
2. Hair dressing
3. Tailoring
4. Carpentry
5. Gara tie dying
6. Soap making.

We hope to send our beneficiaries for two years of training in skills of their choice. It will be very
successful and will create a big impact into the lives of these girls. The major problem we are
facing is to support them and the teachers. They absent a lot because they survive through
commercial sex and sexually abused children. It is really a problem. How to improve their
attendances and to pay teachers and improve in teaching and learning environment.

BUDGETS FOR THE PROJECT IS ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DALLARS
($150.000)
