PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP

So they went up out of Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan. And they told him, Joseph is still alive! He is even ruler over all the land of Egypt. He was stunned; he could not believe them. But when they told him all the words of Joseph that he had said to them, and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. Israel said, Enough! My son Joseph is still alive. I must go and see him before I die. - Genesis 45:25-28 But she came and knelt before him, saying, Lord, help me. He answered, It is not fair to take the childrens food and throw it to the dogs. She said, Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters table. Then Jesus answered her, Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish. And her daughter was healed instantly. - Matthew 15:25-28 Is there not in every one a longing for light, for God, however hidden? - Annemarie Wchter Arnold

WE GATHER TO GLORIFY GOD

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Please fill out the communication card and place it in the offering plate during the offertory. PRELUDE The Peace May Be Exchanged. (Rubrics) Dan Locklair

Please stand for these parts of the service.

CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! People: It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, Leader: On the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. People: It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. All: It is God Who has called us to be a people, and we are His. Thanks be to God!

from Psalm 133

HYMN 473 (Blue Hymnal)

For the Beauty of the Earth

Dix

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Almighty and merciful Father, You made us from dust, and created us a people; You saved us from death, called us to obedience, and sent us forth to bless. But still we stray. We tend our cares and worries first, and distance ourselves from others need. We call You Lord, but turn away when obedience is inconvenient. We call You Savior, but place our trust in wealth, esteem and success. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, and forgive us our sins. Convict our hearts of our waywardness, And deliver us from the vanity of self-deceit. Accept our offering of our broken selves, And redeem us by Your unending grace, that we may be filled with the joy of Your salvation, And stirred to go forth into all the world, sharing Your gospel and loving Your people; in the power of Your Holy Spirit, and through Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, in whose most holy, humble and powerful Name we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
