 Identify main features of primary, secondary and tertiary industries.
 Describe the importance of each sector of industry in the development of a country.

Starter Activity (5 min)


Two minutes Talk
To know the prior knowledge of learners. Learners shall be grouped in pairs and informed what each
pair will be talking about:
What is industry?
How can we define industry?

Learning Activity (20min)


Learners will identify the types of industry and make mind map in their notebook write three
categories of industries with examples from textbook page no 62 fig 4.1.
Through class discussion teacher will discuss the importance of each sector of industry for
development of a country.
Class Assignment: Open Book Task
Q: Service industry contributes highest value in GDP. Justify the statement with reasons.

Brainstorming (Ice Breaker)
Teacher will collect the feedback of students on the given question. Participation each student
shall be ensured.
What do you understand by term Industrial development?
What is the link between Industries and Economic Development?

Learning Activity
Group Work (20 min)
Learners will identify the factors which are important for the development of an industry with
the reference of figure 4.6 and make mind map in their notebook.
Learners while working in the group will relate the small scale engineering in Punjab with those
factors which has promoted Industrial growth specifically in Punjab.
Each Group will discuss their findings and a healthy class discussion will be done.

Learning Activity (20 min)


Teacher will ask the learners to do skim reading and also interpret the (Fig 4.7, 4.8, 4.9, pg 71,
72 and 73 from Geography Today book 2) and identify the factors which influences natural gas,
oil and Farming.
Teacher will also write the factors on board and ask learner to tell which factor may affect more
for natural gas, oil and dairy farming, factors may vary due to their nature of work.

Explain how topography of an area plays an important role in the formation of Natural Oil and
Gas? /5m
Why is Pakistan leading producer of milk in world? /3m

Few probing questions will be asked:
Inferential:
1. What is the difference between social and economic development?
2. Which can change frequently?
KWL Activity
This can be done in pairs.
1. Learners will write one or two things they know about Social under Social heading (K).
2. Learners will write one or two things they know about economic development under the
climate heading (K).
3. Learners will write one or two things they want to know about Social under the Social
heading (W).
4.Learners will write one or two things they want to know about economical under economical
heading
(W).
5. Also teacher will ask them to relate the economic development of any country with its social
development. And how are they both dependent on each other.

Brainstorming on the basis of the given picture about small and large scale industries.

Learning Activity (20 min)


Teacher will start discussion by introducing types of development.
Conferencing: (Class discussions)
Learners will identify the small scale and large scale manufacturing industries from the text book.
And will asked to make a mind map and write the benefits of establishing industries in Pakistan.
Following points should be added in the mind map and discussed:
1. Increase in National Income
2. Higher Standard of Living
3. High Economic stability
4. Improvement in balance Payments
5. Rise in Standard of living.
6. Greater specialisation of labour
7. Job Opportunities.
8. Stimulated progress in other sectors.

Starter Activity (5min)


Teacher can pose few Inferential questions such as:
1.What type of Tourism is the Kartarpur Corridor built by Pakistan how can this benefit our
nation? This real life example can make the discussions interesting and students will take
interest.
Learning Activity (20 min)
Real life examples:
On the basis of the responses, general class discussion will be initiated related to types of
tourism. Students will come up with their responses and teacher as a facilitator will guide how
this is a Heritage (religious tourism and can also benefit for the better relations and also raise
some money to make economy strong)
Class Assignment

Students will be asked to make a mind map in the notebooks and write all the types of Tourism.

Pair Work Task

Then a Pounce- bounce technique should be used to discuss the factors that can help in growth
of Tourism and also which affect negatively in pairs, higher and lower performing learners can
be asked to think and come up with possible reasons as to what can help in growth of Tourism
and what factors can affect the growth of Tourism negatively.
