Conversation II
Reward:
Make a gift of something to
(someone) in recognition of their
services, efforts, or achievements.

Examples:
1.The engineer who supervised the work
was rewarded with a bonus
2. I can neither punish him if he does wrong
nor reward him if he does right.
Expertise:
Expert skill or knowledge in a
particular field

Examples:
1. I'm offering my expertise to assist you
2. Most popular science is written by experts
looking to package their expertise for beginners.
Distort:
To twist awry or out of shape; make
crooked or deformed.

Examples:
1. The bard will exaggerate or distort his story.
2. He protests against its use for controversial
pamphlets which distort the truth.
Stare:
To look fixedly often with
wide-open eyes.

Examples:
1. She tried hard not to stare at the men.
2. People stare at her with varying looks of curiosity
and intensity
Pounding heart:
Heart palpitations.

Examples:
1. I woke up with my heart pounding many times.
2. Taran kept his gaze steady, his heart pounding.
Overcome:
to get over.

Examples:
1. They managed to overcome all my
issues
2. He helped me to overcome my problems.
Phobia:
Extreme fear of something or
someone.

Examples:
1. I've got some phobias
2. He could overcome his phobia.
Achluophobia:
Extreme fear of dark.

Examples:
1. The achluophobia is my biggest phobia.
2. His achluophobia disappear without any
treatment.
Botanophobia:
The extreme fear of plants.

Examples:
1. Botanophobia is a weird phobia.
2. I should have realized you had botanophobia.
Chrometophobia:
The extreme fear of money.

Examples:
1. I don't have chrometophobia for sure.
2. The chrometophobia is so bad for her.
Gamophobia:
The extreme fear of getting
married.

Examples:
1. I'm pretending to get gamophobia the last 5
years.
2. Her Gamaphobia is finally over
Ombrophobia:
The extreme fear of rain.

Examples:
1. I don't believe that ombrophobia is a real phobia.
2. He died with his ombrophobia.
Papyrophobia:
The extreme fear of paper.

Examples:
1. The papyrophobia is a ridiculous phobia.
2. My uncle suffers of papyrophobia.
Scolionophobia:
The extreme fear of school.

Examples:
1. Scolionophobia is common in these days.
2. My son has scolionophobia.
Persuasive:
Having the power or the ability to
persuade people.

Examples:
1. The candidate was trying to persuade the people.
2. You are the most persuasive person I ever met.
Ad:
A picture, short film, song, etc. that
tries to persuade people to buy a
product

Examples:
1. There are alot of advertising of the new product.
2. This is a great Ad.
Highlight:
To attract attention to or
emphasize something important

Examples:
1. Toning I'm going to show the highlights of the
match.
2. Today I would like to highlight how a conservative
government will support farmers
Euphemism:
A mild or indirect word or
expression substituted for one
considered to be too harsh or blunt
when referring to something
unpleasant or embarrassing

Examples:
1. Please don't talk to me with euphemism.
2. My father always spoke us with euphemism.
Appeal:
Make a serious or urgent request,
typically to the public.

Examples:
1. If you appeal to someone to do something, you
make a serious and urgent request to them
2. Appeal and take action.
Invest:
Spend money with the expectation
of achieving a profit or material
result by putting it into financial
plans, shares, or property, or by
using it to develop a commercial
venture

Examples:
1. Please invest your money in our bank.
2. If you want to have a better future invest carefully
today.
Resilience:
The capacity to recover quickly
from difficulties; toughness

Examples:
1. Her natural resilience helped her overcome the
crisis.
2. She has shown great resilience to stress
Confide:
Trust (someone) enough to tell
them of a secret or private matter

Examples:
1. Do you confide in her?
2. I often confide my secrets to my best friend.
Intently:
An intent or concentrated manner :
with great effort, attention, or
concentration

Examples:
1. He listened intently for a few minutes
2. Dron looked intently at the princess while she
was speaking.
Debate:
Debate is a process that involves
formal discussion on a particular
topic. In a debate, opposing
arguments are put forward to argue
for opposing viewpoints.

Examples:
1. The debate last night was intensely.
2. See you at the debate tomorrow
Moderator:
Moderator is a person whose role is
to act as a neutral participant in a
debate or discussion

Examples:
1. The moderator was so cute.
2. She was elected moderator for third time.
Ban:
A ban is a formal or informal
prohibition of something.

Examples:
1. The city has banned smoking in al public
buildings
2. The drug was banned 10 years ago.
Relationship:
The way in which two or more
concepts, objects, or people are
connected, or the state of being
connected.

Examples:
1. Our relationship was good and strong.
2. My relationship with my uncle is not good.
Raise:
Lift or move to a higher position or
level.

Examples:
1. Raise your hand if you have a question.
2. It looks like a fine place to raise children
Prodigy:
A person, especially a young one,
endowed with exceptional qualities
or abilities

Examples:
1. His son is a prodigy in this matter.
2. She was the one who told me that he was a child
prodigy
Discuss:
talk or write about (a topic) in
detail, taking into account different
ideas and opinions.

Examples:
1. We have to discuss tonight about our topic.
2. The discuss has already ended.
Conscious:
Aware of and responding to one's
surroundings; awake.

Examples:
1. He didn't seem to be conscious,so she checked his
pulse.
2. The head teacher was conscious of the bullying
problem among the students and intervened.
Average:
A number expressing the central or typical
value in a set of data, in particular the
mode, median, or (most commonly) the
mean, which is calculated by dividing the
sum of the values in the set by their
number

Examples:
1. The average of people death by smoking is
terrible.
He has a high batting average.
Perform:
Present (a form of entertainment)
to an audience.

Examples:
1. The doctor said he wouldn't be able to perform at
first
2. We should perform the same process to find it
Surrounding:
All around a particular place or
thing.

Examples:
1. Talon booked up all the surrounding hotels.
2. The surrounding mountains are lofty and rugged.
