I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
1. identify the beginning letter of each picture 2.
give words/objects in a given beginning letter
3. connect picture to each correct beginning letter
Values Integration: Giving importance to know what is the beginning letter of the name of each
picture

CONTENT STANDARD
The learners demonstrate understanding of the alphabets in English in comparison to the
alphabets of Filipino and Mother Tongue

PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learners distinguish similarities and differences of the alphabets in English and Mother
Tongue/Filipino

LEARNING COMPETENCY
Give the beginning letter of the name of each picture

III. Procedure
Read the story.

Once upon a time, there was a cute little girl named Maria.
Maria was in Grade 2. She has plenty of toys and things at home,
but she wasn’t happy playing alone.

One day, while going home from school they passed by a


group of street children. She felt pity on them. Maria decided to give
some toys and things to the children but she was confused what to
give?

Can you help Maria?

- Thank you, my dear pupils for reading it loud and clearly.

- Let us go now to another activity, which is we are going to help Maria.

Teaching Strategy: Using minimal responses Language learners who


lack confidence in their ability to participate successfully in oral interaction
often listen in silence while others do the talking. One way to encourage such
learners to begin to participate is to help them build up a stock of minimal
responses that they can use in different types of exchanges. Such responses
can be especially useful for beginners.

ACTIVITY 1

1. Who has plenty of toys and things at home?

- Lea, you are raising your hand, kindly give the answer?

- Yes, very good! Maria has a plenty of toys and things at home.

2. What did she see in the street?


- Another hand? Okay, Mark, go ahead.
- You’re right! She saw a group of street children.

3. What do you think did she feel when she gave those things to them?
How about the street children will they be happy?

- Yes, Lyle, can you give your answer?


- Yes, very good answer!

- The next question, who wants to answer? Yes, Grace, you share us your
answer.
- Nice answer!

4. Why did she help the street children?

- Another, who wants to share an idea? Okay, Princess, go ahead.

- Very good answer!

5. If you are Maria, will you do the same? Why?


- The next one, who can answer? Okay, Ninia, you can share now.

- A very nice answer!

6. How did Maria share her toys and things to the street children?

- Okay, Justine you can now share your idea.

- Okay, very good!

IV. ASSIGNMENT

Direction: In a long Bond paper cut and paste pictures of your favorite animal, fruits, things or
places. And then you will give the beginning letter of the name of picture.
