2.1.3 Having more than one Fiery Software using the same Flash Drive________

If the capacity of the USB Drive is large enough, more than one Fiery Flash Installer can reside on the Drive.

Step 13: In this example, we will start with the 6 files from the [B35] C75 v1.0 still in the root directory of a
32GB Drive.

Step 14: A folder is created with the same name as found on the St-Laurent Server, and the files moved into
the folder.

27
Xerox Internal Use
Step 15: Additional USB Flash Installation files are downloaded, unzipped, and placed into folders that have
the same name as those found on the St-Laurent Server for clarity.
In this state, the USB Drive will not work as the Fiery will only execute files in the root directory, it
will ignore anything inside of a folder.

Step 16: If a server for the 700 is to be loaded, simply move (do not copy), the files from the [MMX] folder
to the root directory and follow in the instructions at Step 11. Once the Fiery has been loaded, the
files should be moved back into the folder to eliminate confusion in the future.

28
Xerox Internal Use
2.1.4 USB Installation Software Files Sizes________________________________

Under normal conditions, the file structure of the USB Flash Drive should look similar to Step 15 on the
previous page. All USB Software Files are stored in their respective folders, the files are moved to the Root
Directory when needed, and returned to the proper folder once the software load is completed. This will
prevent a potential mix-up on the drive.

If mix-up does happen, the table below lists the controller and the size of the install.img file.

2.2 How to Use the USB Fiery Clone Tool for Embedded (Bustled) Servers_____

Important Information
_____________________________________________________________________
This method for loading software will install a clone image of a working Controller with the latest service packs as
described in Step 1 below.

USB Setup Tool and Clone Images can be found in the Cloud.

DO NOT change the name of the folders created by the Fiery Clone Tool.

If there is more than one folder from a particular Fiery model on the same USB Drive, the Tool will load the latest image.

Additional requirements: 2 USB Flash Drives

During internal testing using the Kingston DataTraveler USB Flash Drive, restoring of the 700 DCP was not successful
when other Clone folders were on the USB Drive, it worked fine if only the FCT files and 700 DCP folder were on the
USB.

If you have this issue, you will need to either remove all other folders when loading a 700 DCP, or purchase a second
USB Flash Drive specifically for this model.

Available Clone Images and Preparation___________________________

Step 1: These instructions will prepare your USB to load the following Fiery Controllers.

Prefix Controller Software Level File Name on Server

2.3 Installing System Software on a Standalone/External Fiery_______________

All Standalone or External Fiery Controllers are loaded in basically the same manner.

The exceptions are the EX700 with serial number prefix TBA, and EX242/252/260 with serial number prefix TBB.
If these two models have the SATA DVD Drive installed, or Tag 3 and Tag 4 respectively, then CD0 will be
necessary to install the system software.

CD0 can be downloaded and produced from a file found at GSN Library 139

1 – Ensure you have all the discs necessary to complete the installation, see Software Part Numbers.
2 – If possible, back up the EX Print Server Configuration.
3 – If possible, allow the network administrator the opportunity to print the Job Log and save any custom simulation
and output profiles. Also, print the following:
Configuration page
Font List
4 – Remove all USB devices (except for the keyboard and mouse).
5 – Insert System Software 1 DVD into the DVD Drive.
Note: If a new hard disk drive was installed, power on the system, insert the System Software 1 DVD,
allow the system to boot from the System Software 1 DVD, and then proceed to the next step.
6 – From the control panel or Start menu if a monitor is connected, restart the EX Print Server.
7 – When the Language Select screen displays, select a Language.
8 – When the “What do you want to do?” screen displays, choose New Installation.
