CV Preparation Tips
Now it’s your turn to work on your CVs!
This is a short summary of everything we have discussed (you will be working on the
interview with your PCCLI teacher). Let’s break down the steps and sections of the CV you
should be working on:
1) Choose a template that you like and that goes well according to your
personality

2) Go over the notes (I uploaded a presentation from one of our classes, plus the
recording of last class with Barbie so you use what you find useful)
3) Start completing with true information about yourself. Typical sections -generally
in this order- are:
Name
Photo -you choose. If you use one: it MUST be a high-quality photo, with a
clear background, it should look professional, not too big not too small, not
a cut out from a bigger picture. Take a photo specifically for this task if you
want to.
“Title”: for example, student
Contact info: an email, a website, your LinkedIn profile, phone number. No
address.
Personal Statement/ Objective/ ”About me” Section/ -in the 3rd person-
Not usually longer than 2 sentences. For example: “A high school
graduate with a degree in (communication/Business Administration, etc) /
specialized in…. A dedicated, hard-working, creative person/man/woman
pursuing a career in …./ seeking/ looking for a full- time/part-time position
in xxxx to….(gain experience in this field/ contribute with my passion/
acquire more knowledge in this area while applying my skills, etc)
>SIMILAR TO YOUR ELEVATOR PITCH, think WHAT 'S YOUR VALUE?
Education/Academic History> high school degree-(years)- brief description
of the studies (orientation) + any other official studies
Work Experience> independent, projects, unpaid, internships, volunteer
work (this can be a separate section). Always write name of the position for
example, Assistant) name of the place of work and a brief description of
your duties/tasks
Skills (for example, communication/organization skills, time-management,
leadership skills, good at maths, punctuality, ability to delegate tasks, etc)
Languages> LEVELS (you can ask me about this) – skills (writing,
speaking, listening, reading)
References (if you have, write: NAME, relationship – check the example)
OR just write “references available upon request”
Interests/Courses -if you think this is relevant only.
