Company History

Jennmar Corporation has been operating in Australia since 1997

1922 - Jennmar set up as a scrap merchant business in Pennsylvania, USA
1972 - Jennmar begins manufacturing ground control products in Pennsylvania, USA
1997 - Jennmar Australia established and a manufacturing facility opened at
Wetherill Park in Western Sydney, to supply ground control products to
Australian mining industry
2002 - Manufacturing facility in Mackay, North Queensland opened
2006 - Jennmar Queensland produce 500 Bowen Cables per week for Oaky
2007 - Jennmar Australia moves into new manufacturing facilities in Smeaton Grange
in the Macarthur District of NSW
2007 - Jennmar moves into significantly upgraded facilities in Paget, Mackay QLD
2008 - J-Lok Resins Australia opened at Smeaton Grange, supplying resin capsules to
compete in a previously one-supplier market
2008 / 2012 TG and Sumo Cable Bolts introduced to Australian market, to compete with
Megabolt products
2013 - Manufacturing facility in Perth, Western Australia opened

Plain and Indented SuperStrands

Strand Properties

• Plain SuperStrand been used for years!

• Usually point anchored
• Encapsulation can be improved using a specially developed 25.5mm diameter resin,
1650 long twin capsule resin. Using this resin diameter, there is 14% more resin per unit
length.

• Anchored with Barrel and Wedge -ToTo Cable Tensioning Device available – see later
• Recent development has been indentation of the cable

Indented SuperStrand

• Indented wire for improved bond strength

• Wires are stress relieved after indenting to maximise tensile
performance
• Flexible, easy to handle even around tight working areas of bolting
rigs and CM platforms
• No change in the performance of the barrel and wedge system

Plain and Indented T/G Cables
Strand Properties

Plain T/G Cables

• Consists of 28mm diameter 9 wire hollow cable
• 42mm hole
• Typically uses an 800 x 36mm dia. resin for anchorage
• Bulbed over the top metre - 38mm bulbs for resin anchorage
• Remnant cable is plain.
• Post Grout application via a lance which attaches
to the Grout adaptor
• Hi-Thix Grout flows through a flexible central
corrosion protected steel hollow tube up the
cable to a termination point at which the grout
flows down the cable/hole
• Used at Crinum , and Narrabri, Abel, Ashton and
West Wallsend in NSW

Indented T/G Cables
Strand Properties

• Consists of 28mm diameter 9 wire hollow cable

• 42mm hole
• Typically will use an 800 x 36mm dia. resin for anchorage
• Outside wires indented to enhance bond strength
• Strand Properties identical to T/G

Sumo Cables

• Consists of 28mm diameter 9 wire hollow cable

• 42mm hole
• Bulbed over the complete length,
3 x 35mm bulbs @ 250mm spacing for resin
anchorage with 35mm bulbs @500mm spacing, along
the length
• Typically uses an 800 x 36mm dia. resin for anchorage
• Grouting arrangement similar to T/G Cables
• Used at Dendrobium Springvale Chain Valley, Narrabri
and Austar

Anchorage at the plate of S/Strand , T/G and Sumo
Cables
• Typically Barrel and Wedge then tensioned with
Hydraulic Tensioner
• Progressive movement in NSW to the ToTo Cable
Tensioning Device
• To-To Device pre-stressed onto cable
• Tonnage applied on installation typically 8-10 Tonne
(depends on stall torque of rig)
• Users of SuperStrand ToTo’s are Appin, Chain Valley
Myuna, Ulan West, Airly and Clarence

A recent development has

been the successful trial of
the ToTo Cable Tensioning
Device for use with TG’s or
Sumo Cables. Being used at
Appin with Sumo’s
This development removes
the need to disengage the
dollie from the cable- in other
words it can install the cable,
allow water flush and then
finally tighten the cable.
It also allows the use of a
fast set resin, rather than the
standard medium set, saving
time waiting for the resin to
cure before tightening

• Bowen Cable

• Post Groutable Cable- Grouted from the bottom up.

• 42mm Hole , bottom 450mm reamed out to 55mm
• Typically Resin Anchored with 1000mm x36mm dia. resin
• Characterised by Non Collapsible bulbs every 500mm down the grouted length of the
SuperStrand cable. These are smaller than the top resin anchorage bulbs. The breather tube
is fixed to the cable with metal ties. The bolt features a resin retention washer which can be
placed at any position during manufacture, thus optimising anchorage
• The head assembly which includes the wedges has been completely re-designed, taking
away many of the manual processes for cable sealing and grouting.

• Lowest cost to capacity cable bolt
configuration
• Available in single, twin and triple
strand
• Can be used in either top down or
bottom up grouting applications
• Minimum birdcage spacing at
180mm for maximum bond
strength with grout and rock
• Typically used as truss cable but
can be used with plate and barrel
and wedge.
• Custom configurations, such as
single truss tail, can be made to
order

Closing Comments
• Jennmar has a substantial armoury of Point Anchored and Post Grouted
Cables
• At the present time the TG and Sumo cables are made in Sydney.
• Product is continually transported between Sydney and Paget factories.
This means that at mine site, a minimum stock inventory can be kept.
• By having Jennmars’ manufacturing facility close by means that
Emergency Deliveries can be made to any site within the Bowen Basin on
the same day as the order is generated.
