    Nouns

    Parts of houses and


    apartment buildings
    Bathroom can I go to the bathroom

    Bathtub a container large enough for a person to sit in to take a bath

    Bedroom The house has four bedrooms, so it's pretty big

    Closet a small room or space in a wall where you can store things such as clothes,
    sheets.
    Dining room Breakfast is served in the dining room from 8.30-10.
    Elevator a piece of equipment, usually in the form of a small room, that carries people
    or goods straight up and down in tall buildings
    (first/second) floor Don't sit on the floor - you might dirty your dress.
    Garage If you're near the garage, could you check to see if the car's ready?

    Hall a building or large room used for events involving a lot of people

    Kitchen a room where food is prepared and cooked

    Laundry room A laundry is also a room in a house where clothes, bed sheets

    Living room the room in a house or apartment where people sit or relax together but
    do not usually eat or sleep
    Lobby a group of people who try to persuade the government or an official group to do
    something

    Room the amount of space that someone or something needs


    Shower a short period of rain or snow

    Stairs a set of steps that lead from one level to another, esp. in a building
