1. PREFACE

This instruction is for the platform lift owner and it must be kept all the platform lift‘s usage
period.
There are described platform lift, its control, owner‘s of the platform lift responsibility, that to
secure safe and reliable platform lift operation.
The purpose of the platform lift – transportation of disabled people, standing or sitting in a
wheelchair, with or without an attendant till appointed levels.

2. TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Technical maintenance – all necessary operations, ensuring that after an equipment will be
inhstalled, platform lift and its components will function safely according to it‘s destination all
usage time.
Technical Supervision Service – an enterprice or subdivision of an enterprice, where
qualified technical supervision employee carry out technical supervision operations on behalf of
platform lift owner.
Qualified technical supervision employee – this is the person with appropriate qualification,
who has proper knowledge and practical experience. He is provided with necessary instructions
and with help of technical supervision service ensures that proper technical supervision
operations would be performed securely.
Manufacturer – natural or legal person, who takes responsibility for designing, production
and placing on the market of the platform lift.
Installer – natural or legal person, who takes responsibility for the installation of platform
lift.
Owner of the platform lift – natural or legal person, who has commission to dispose
platform lift and takes responsibility for its operation and its intended use.
Emergency Service – organization, responsible for alert signal information acceptance and
trapped users releasing from the platform lift. Emergency service could be part of technical
supervision service.
Rescue operation – operation starting after receiving notification of a person(s) trapped in a
platform lift and finishing by releasing the trapped person(s).
User – person, who uses platform lift.

3. DUTIES OF THE OWNER OF PLATFORM LIFT

Owner of platform lift must ensure, that platform lift will be used only as intended (platform
lift destination was described in article 1).
If platform lift will be used not under the destination, there could arise dangerous situations
with probability of injury or death.
Only proper preventive maintenance performed by competent technical maintenance persons
according to technical maintenance instruction could warrant safe and intended platform lift
functioning. Owner of platform lift must keep it in safe operation conditions. In order to achieve
this, the owner should use services of technical supervision service.
If dangerous situation will occur, it is necessary that the owner of platform lift would interrupt
usage of platform lift.
It is forbidden to use platform lift during failure cases, especially during failures, which could
affect user safety. The owner of platform lift must ensure, that in failure case platform will be
shut off and users wouldn’t use it.
It is necessary that owner would inform technical supervision service:
- immediately about any inaccurate platform lift running or irregular change of it’s direct
surrounding;
- immediately about platform lift exploitation termination in appearance of dangerous
situation;
- after any intervention of authorized fitted person from rescue service;
- before any modification, related with platform lift and (or) with it‘s surrounding or usage;
- before any authorized verification or activities of third party, different nor executable
during platform lift technical supervision;
- before the termination of maintenance of platform lift for a long time;
- before returning to exploitation platform lift after long outage period.
It is necessary that the owner of the platform would ensure, that for the user of platform lift
the telephone number and name of technical supervision service will always be available,
constantly attached and clearly visible.
It is necessary that the owner of the platform lift would took care, that technical supervision
service, who will took part in rescue people in any conditions could safely enter into the building
and walk up to the platform lift.

Without these examinations and tests, which are performed by technical supervision service,
the owner of the platform lift for his own interest should periodically perform such actions:
- go up by platform from the bottom landing to the upper landing; and from the upper
landing descend to the bottom landing that to evaluate drive quality;
- examine typical matters, that it would be assured, that they are in right place and properly
working:
shaft door:
- isn‘t shaft door mechanically damaged?
- is the shaft door properly opens/closes?
- isn‘t possible to open shaft door when the platform isn‘t in the landings?
- couldn‘t platform to move with opened shaft door?
electrical automatic device for shaft door opening/ closing:
- is it suitable shaft door delay duration for door closing (only for shaft doors with electric
drive for closing)? Duration of delay for shaft door closing must be not less than 5 s.
accuracy of platform stoppings between platform‘s and landing‘s thresholds:
- is it suitable platform stopping accuracy in landings? Stopping accuracy can be ± 10 mm.
controllers in the landings:
- are properly working platform calling buttons in the landings?
platform safety edge:
- are properly functioning platform safety edges? With pushing platform safety edge in any
point platform must stop. After releasing this safety edge platform again must began to move.
control devices, which are on the platform for the control of the platform direction:
- are properly working platform control devices, designed for control of the platform
direction?
emergency stop device, which is on the platform:
- is it properly working emergency stop device?
remote alarm device, which is on the platform:
- whether properly working alarm button, which is on the platform, also remote alarm
system or alarm signal (depending on what system is connected)? After pushing button the
audible alarm signal must be hearable.
If there is telephone line or other communication mean connected, push and keep alarm
button for 10 s. After 10 s it must sound audible signal and dispatcher of emergency service must
respond.

5. DESCRIPTION OF THE PLATFORM LIFT

5.1 Control devices of the platform lift


5.1.1 Platform control devices, which are in landings

Platform control devices in landings are intended for calling platform to desireable landing. To
call platform to desireable landing, we must to push call - button. Call – button isn‘t „dead man“
control type button, that is why for user is enough just to press it and release.
Drive direction control buttons on platform has primacy against call – buttons in landings.
Call – buttons in the landings has the following indications for lifting platform user (-s) comfort:
• button not illuminated: platform is free and user of platform lift could call platform to the
desireable landing;
• red light is blinking: platform is engaged;
• green light is blinking: platform arriving to your landing;
• red ligh on: platform is engaged;
• red and green light blinking simultaneously: platform control is turned on technical
maintenance mode.
5.1.2 Devices on the platform for platform‘s movement direction control

Buttons on the platform are for the control of platform movement direction. When user
releases platform movement direction button, the platform stops, because platform movement
direction buttons are „dead man“ control type buttons.
It is necessary to keep platform‘s movement direction button pressed while platform will
reach desireable landing. Platform stops automatically when it reaches desired landing.

5.2 Emergency stop button on the platform

Emergency stopping button STOP is imposed for sudden interrupt of power supply for
platform lift drive when dangerous situations arise. In order to use the platform after stop, it is
necessary to turn pushed emergency button clockwise on 45º.
IMMEDIATELY push emergency stop button, when dangerous situations arise.
When the platform is standstill, please allways check if emergency stop button isn‘t pushed.

5.3 Remote alarm signal button on the platform

Remote alarm signal button is imposed that it would be possible to call help from outside to
users which are trapped on the platform. If platform standstill between landings or if it is on
landing, but the shaft door doesn‘t opens, user must press remote alarm signal button.
Remote alarm signal button performs such functions:
- sound alarm signal;
- two-way conversation connection with emergency rescue service (optional).

Sound alarm signal imposed in phonic way to inform, that on the platform there are trapped
users. Sound alarm signal is disseminated till remote alert signal button is pressed.
Alert signal button must be kept pressed not less than 10 s that it would be the possibility to
make mutual conversation between lifting platform user and emergency rescue service.
5.4 Indicators situated on the platform

Sound and visual platform overload indicator, when the platform‘s nominal load exceeds 75
kg.
In the case of overload:
- user is informed by audible and visual sinal;
- shaft door remains unlocked, but if the shaft door would lock, then you need to press the
floor where you are movement direction control button on the platform
- platform lift operation isn‘t possible till the overload is not removed
NOTE. If the platform overload system begans to work during platform movement, it is
possible to continue the travel only after release platform‘s movements direction control button
on platform and repeatedly press it.
Emergency light situated on the platform turns on when the power supply dissappears and
there is foreseen that it could illuminate not less than 1 hour.

6. SAFE PLATFORM LIFT USAGE

In order to warrant safe platform lift use it is necessary follow indicated safety requirements.
For the persons, who because of particular circumstances couldn‘t use platform lift controllers,
must be warranted necessary help.
6.1 Shaft door area
Shaft door closing force is reduced and there isn‘t any possibility of any additional risk, but
allways it must be attempt as soon as possible come on or come out of lifting platform and leave
shaft door close area free.

6.2 Threshold and platform of the landing
In order to avoid stumble risk before coming out of platform or coming on it must be noted to
the vertical distance which is between platform and landing threshold.
6.3 User‘s responsibility
During platform movements users must clow hold of handrail. It is forbidden to jump on the
platform.
Users luggage must be held in hands or reliably standed on the platform floor, that during all
travel time it couldn‘t move. Users or their luggage during travel couldn‘t contact to the shaft
construction.
Extraneous things couldn‘t be dropped to the shaft pit throught gaps between platform and
shaft construction.
It is forbidden to smoke for user when he uses platform lift.
In case of fire, if the smoke is spreading or etc. it is prohibied to use platform lift.

7. RESCUE OF USERS

Users rescue operation must be performed only by owner‘s empowered persons, who are
trained duly (competent technical supervision service employees).
It is necessary, that the owner of platform lift took care that the technical supervision service
participating in users rescue, could safely enter to the building and reach the platform lifting in
any conditions.
Please read the information below before the users rescue operations.
Open the shaft door and release user only after the platform will stops in the landing
7.1 Emergency electrical mode rescue devices
If it is possible, before beginning of the users rescue, perform breakdown search.
Decline/lift the platform automatically in such way:
- Inform the users that platform could move, before to begin any rescue operation jobs;
- Please check whether it is closed all shaft doors;
- Unlock machine room door. In the machine room switch lifting platform control handle
from (1) “Normal” to “Control”;

- Lift or decline the platform with platform lifting direction control handle. Turning
platform lift direction control handle (2) counterclockwise – platform will move downward,
turning lifting platform direction control handle clockwise – platform will move upwards;
- Ascertain, that the platform stopped in the landing;
- Lock the door of machine room. Using triangular key unlock shaft door and let out users;

- Close the shaft door and assure whether shaft door is locked;
- Call technical supervision service.
7.2 Emergency manual mode rescue devices
Emergency manual mode ir performed in that case, if there is no possibility to use emergency
electrical mode control, described in 7.1 point.
Decline/lift the platform manually in such way:
- Inform the users that platform could move, before to begin any rescue operation jobs;
- Please check whether it is closed all shaft doors;
- Unlock machine room door. In machine room turn off main switches;

- On the special axis put platform’s manual lowering device. Axle is for 12 socket key;

- Lift or decline platform with manual platform elevating device. Platform movement
direction is indicated on the motor. If it is possible always seek decline platform, because
platform lift up requires significantly more endeavour;
- Ascertain, that the platform stopped in the landing;
- Lock the door of machine room. Using trihedral key unlock shaft door and let out users;

- Close the shaft door and assure wheter shaft door is locked;
- Call technical supervision service.

8. PLATFORM LIFT MAINTENANCE

8.1 Safety requirements


In this article there are described safety requirements and according these requirements it
must be executed platform lift maintenace, in order to avoid injury.
Platform lifts maintenance could be performed only by technical supervision service,
otherwise, lifting platform could cause high risk for other persons.
If the technical supervision service determinate failures, which results that platform lift isn‘t
suitable for safe use and there is no possibility to eliminate these failures immediately, it is
necessary to turn off platform lift.
It is necessary and compulsory to use personal safequard means during technical treatment.

8.1.1 Safety during maintenace in machine room

There is possible danger in the machine room during platform technical
maintenance.

The door of the machine room must be allways closed when qualified technical supervision
employee perform lift platform technical maintenance not in the machine room or they aren‘t
near machine room.
8.1.2 Safety performing maintenance in the shaft pit and in the shaft

It is possible danger to fall when maintenace is performed it the shaft.

It is possible danger of falling stuff e.g. bolts, tools and etc. when
maintenance is performed it the shaft pit and in the shaft.
It is possible stunble danger when platform maintenance is performed in
the shaft pit.

There are necessary following personal safeguard means when performing


platform lift technical maintenace: helmet, gloves, protective boots, goggle.

8.1.2.1 Work in the shaft pit under the platform


To perform platform lift maintenance safely, being under the platform in the shaft pit, it is
necessary to take the following actions:
(1) Unlock and open machine room door with the special key;
(2) In the machine room switch platform lift operating handle from “Normal” to “Control”;
(3) If the platform is at the bottom stop SA2 lift the platform to the altitude not less than 2
meters from floor level by means of operating handle;
(4) Insert mechanical safety device “pit ptorp” (a) to the designed for it location (a – a) and
chain blocking device of speed governor (b) to the designed for it location (b – b). After
establishment mechanical safety devices to operative positions, platform movement couldn’t be
possible – CHECK IT;
(5) Close and lock the door of machine room;
(6) Open bottom floor shaft door with the special emergency shaft door opening key;
(7) When you’ll enter into the shaft press STOP button, which is on the guide rail;
(8) When work under the platform is finished, restore STOP button to its normal state by
turning it clockwise in 45o angle;
(9) Close the shaft door by using special emergency shaft door opening key. ASCERTAIN,
that all shaft doors are properly closed;
(10) Open machine room door;
(11) Dismount mechanical safety device and chain blocking device of speed governor;
(12) Decline platform to the bottom floor using SA2 operating handle;
(13) In the machine room switch operating handle of platform lift from “Control” to
“Normal”;
(14) Close and lock machine room door;

8.1.2.2 Working in the shaft from the platform


Before opening shaft door in the top or intermediate stops with special emergency key,
ascertain, that platform is in the same stop, in which you want to open the door.
There is possible danger to fall to the shaft, when the platform isn‘t in that floor, in which you
are going to open shaft door with the special emergency key

8.1.3 Safety performing maintenance in the stop sites

It is possible danger to fall when technical maintenace is performed it the


shaft.

It is possible danger of falling stuff e.g. bolts, tools and etc. when technical
maintenace is performed it the shaft pit and in the shaft.

There are necessary following personal safeguard means when performing


lifting platform technical maintenace: helmet, gloves, protective boots,
goggle.

Performing lifting platform technical maintenance on the stop sites, when during this
technical maintenance it is necessary to open shaft door, ascertain, that the platfor is on that stop,
in which you are going to open the door.
There is possible danger to fall to the shaft, when the platform isn‘t in that floor, in which you
are going to open shaft door with the special emergency key.

8.1.4 Safety performing users release
Before performing users release operations carefully read chapter 7. Users release operation
must be performed only by owner‘s acredited and properly instructed (competent technical
supervision employees) persons.
It is necessary, that the owner of platform lift would care, that technical supervision service,
which took part in users release, could at any circumstances safely enter into the building and
could approach platform lift.
Poorly lighted entrance to the platform could menace. Owner must warrant sufficient light,
that it would be avoided of danger situations.
Forbidden to enter into the platform lift:
- If platform lift is used when there are pets, it is possibility that they could get into the
platform, when the owner didn‘t notice it. If the door would close and platform lift began to
function, it could happen serious accidents. So please warn owners of the pets about this
potential danger.
- There are electric components in the platform lift room and in the operating platform.
Contact with those components could bring dangerous electrical shock. Also please keep
operating platform and machine room closed and locked from inadmissible opening.
Be careful with electric cables plug-in connectors. Touch of it could cause dangerous
electrical shock. Follow safety stickers which are in the platform lift and on it. It is forbidden to
detach it. If it is impossible to read it or it disappeared, it must be replaced by new ones. Please
contact to customer service and order new stickers.
Platform lift capacity can‘t be exceeded. Lifting capacity is indicated on platform, also in the
technical data certificate.
Maintenance and repair works committed to warrant platform lift working must be executed
according technical intervals. If these activities aren‘t performed perfectly, it couldn‘t be
quaranteed order of work and risk for persons and for property. We recommend to make
regulations recording. Technical maintenance and repair works could be proceed only by
technical supervision employees.
Platform lift machine room must be kept locked all the time and approach couldn‘t be
blocked.
Platform lift machine room could be opened only by operating personal. This information
must be presented on the sticker and sticked on the the door of platform lift. Before supervision
and repair, also cleaning jobs, which must be done, platform lift must be blocked and
disconnected from the power supply. Also it must be warranted, that any other person couldn‘t

actuate power supply. Before the service personal will access into the danger area, platform lift
must be protected by security devices (mechnical and electrical safety devices).
To use only original spare parts and commodity, which are certified by manufacturer. If will
be used other parts, the responsibility and quarantee concerning any sequel will be revoked.

Ascertain, that machine room is easily accessible before performing technical maintenance
works in the machine room.

8.2.1.1 Machine room


Check, is it free working area around machine room door.
Check, is it taut machine room door, door lock.

8.2.1.2 Drive system


8.2.1.2.1 Gear box and motor
The brushless motor is a reduced maintenance motor. During the maintenance do not use
direct heat sources. Check the bearings: vibration, overheat and noise. Wash the motor
components, except the windings, with degreasing solvent Super Solvant 621 or similar. In the
case of anomalous working of the motor, DO NOT disassemble the motor and contact platform
lift manufacturer or the representative company of the manufacturer. Use only the original spare
parts. The possible reasons of anomalous working of the motor can be analyzed as indicated in
table 1.

8.2.1.2.2 Electromagnetic brakes


Platform lift have two disk type electromagnetic brakes. Electromagnetic brakes have an air
gap of 0.25 mm, when it are released. It is very important once a year to check the air gap with
caliper or similar device. Electromagnetic brakes have to be changed when the air gap is 0.45
mm. Check, if the brakes regularly “opens” and “closes”.
If the brakes are noisy or has as anomalous working, inform about it manufacturer of the
platform lift or the representative company of the manufacturer.

8.2.1.3 Electric devices


- Check, if all the connections and contacts are strong and properly connected;
- Check, if the wires are not damaged, if there are no marks of short connection;
- Check the fuse cases and fuses itself;
- Clean the dusts and other impurities, if such would be.

8.2.1.4 Mechanical safety devices

- Check, if the mechanical safety device chock is not damaged (look at picture in
subsection 8.6.1);
- Check, if the over speed governor blocking chock is not damaged (look at picture in
subsection 8.6.1);
- Check, if the indicated chocks are properly functioning and ready to use (look in
subsection 8.6.1).

8.2.1.5 Platform’s control devices


- Check, if the platforms control devices in maintenance mode works correctly, which are
situated in the machine room;
- Check, if electrical emergency mode devices work correctly.

8.2.1.6 Batteries
There are two batteries in the machine room to do the functions of the platform lift. Technical
characteristics of the batteries: 2 units 12V 14Ah.
- Check, if the fastening of the batteries are good;
- Check, if the are no leakage or any other changes.
REMARK: The electrolyte density of the batteries has to be measured one time in a six month
period.
REMARK: The batteries in the machine room have to be changed not later than after three
years.
ATTENTION: Do not forget to switch-off main switches (see picture in subsection 7.2) in the
machine room, when the main power supply is disconnected! This will help to protect the
batteries from full discharge and safe about 30% of the batteries power for each full discharge

8.3.1 Structural elements of the shaft


- Check, if the inside and outside elements of the shaft are not damaged (panels and etc.);
- Check, if the shaft fixing to the building constructions are good and holds strong.
8.3.2 Shaft doors, shaft door drive, shaft door lock
ATTENTION: Before starting the maintenance works be sure that the platform is in that
level.
- Check, if there are any damages of the shaft doors;
- Check, the functioning of the automatic door opener mechanism;
- Check, the functioning of the shaft door lock;
- Check, if the doors are locked properly before plaform starts to move and during the
motion;

- Check, the functioning of the mechanical shaft door closer;
- Check, if the delay time of the door closing is correct (only for doors with automatic door
opener). Shaft doors closing time delay should be not less than 5 seconds;
- Check, the emergency door opening mechanism, if it works properly;
- Check, that the doors can not be opened during the movement of the platform;
- Clean all the dusts and other dirt, if such are;
- Automatic door opene r/ closer drive mechanism is programmed by manufacture‘s
instruction.
8.3.3 Guide rails, guide rails fixing and it’s connections
- Check, if the guide rails fixings are good;
- Check, if the guide rails connections are good;
- The guide rails can be greased with oil for bearings.
8.3.4 Shaft fixing to the building construction
- Check, if the shaft fixing to the building constructions are good and strong without any
obvious damages.
8.3.5 Electric mechanisms in the shaft
- Check, if the cable fixings and securities;
- Check, if trailing cable plastic chain fixation and it‘s condition.
8.3.6 Shaft light
- Check, whether all the spot lights are lighting, if not change it.
8.3.7 Maintenance of the belt drive system
8.3.7.1 Belts, security brushes for the belts, pulleys
Be careful, when the guide rails covers are taken away! When the platform moves DO NOT
check the belt state with fingers, in order to avoid the squeeze hazard.
- Check, if the belts do not have belt cracking, premature tooth wear, belt tensioning, or
other damages;
- Check, wehther belts are clean and there are no oil on the belts;
- Check, if the belts do not have a contact with platform or the shaft parts;
- Check, if the safety brushes of the belts are in it‘s place and that brushes are not worn;
- Check, if the pulleys condition and if it are in it‘s place.
Belts have to be changed, if there are following defects:
- Belt premature tooth wear or shear;
- The wires are outside of the belt;
- If something is jammed into the belt, etc. screws;

- Belt cracking.

8.3.7.2 Check of the belt fixing


- Check, if the belts are not moved or deflected at the fixing points;
- Check, if the fixing screws, fixng plates and other fixng components of the belt ends are
not damage or do not have any other changes.

8.3.7.3 Check of the belt tensioning


Check of the belts tensioning and procedure how to tension it:
- Move the platform to the bottom stop position;
- Take off the guide rails aluminium covers;
- Check, if the belt tensioning washers are pressed till the indicator. Belts are tensioned
correctly, if the washer is in level with the top part of the indicator, see the picture below. If the
belt tensioning is too small or the belts lost it’s tensioning, using the 12 socket key tension the
belts till the indicator. Note: if the number of the tensioning washers would be change, the
distance how much the washers have to be pressed also changes.
REMARK. Each belt tensioning have to be done separately, as the belt tensioning systems of
each belt are independent from each other.

- After tensioning of the belts move the lift to the top and back to the bottom stop position
and again check the tensioning of the belts, if necessary tension belts more;

- Check, if the control devices to control the platform‘s moving direction on the platform
works correctly;
- Check, if the STOP push-button on the platform works;
- Check, if the emergency connection equipment on a platform works. Check, if the call
sound appears when the button with the bell is pressed for ten or more seconds, when the
telephone line or gsm module is connected. When the sound appears the service company‘s
dispatcher should answer. If the platform lift for emergency cases is equiped with phone, check,
if it works good. If the remote emergency equipment msut be programmed, it is done according
to the manufacture instruction;
- Check, if the emergency light works. Emergency light should light not less then 1 hour.
Emergency light turns on, when the power from the batteries are disconnected, but not when the
power supply voltage is turned off;
- Check, if the voice pronunciation equipment works on a platform;
- Check, if the battery‘s state on the platform is good and it is fixed correctly;
- Check, if the safety edge works good on a platform;
- Check, if the platform‘s stop accuary at floor level. Platform‘s stop accuracy at floor
should be ± 10 mm;
- Check, the platform‘s frame dismountable and all-in-one junctions.

8.6.1 Belt tensioning safety device

- Check, if the electric belt tensioning safety device is not broken or damaged;
- Check the distance between the belt and the wheel of the electric safety device
controlling the tensioning of the belt. That distance should not be bigger than 1 mm. In normal
conditions the wheel of the belt tensioning electric safety device can touch the belt. The electric
belt tensioning safety device have to work when the distance between the belt and the wheel of
the belt tensioning safety device is bigger than 3 - 4 mm.
REMARK. The electric belt tensioning safety device does not reset itself, after it was
activated. That is why it is necessary to reset this safety device manually pulling the reset button
to Yourself. The reset button is located on the front side of the electric safety device. This can be
done only by authorised technical personal.
It is very important to check the belt tensioning, when the electric belt tensioning safety
device was activated.
8.6.2 STOP button in the shaft
Check, if the STOP button in the shaft works properly.
“STOP” button can be reseted, only by turning it 45o degree clockwise direction
8.6.3 Electric safety device to control if mechanical safety device (pit prop) is set up in
to operating position
In order to check, if the electric safety gear which controls if safety device works properly
perform following procedures:
- Insert pit prop (1-1) in to dedicated slot (1-2) (pit prop must have free movement in the
slot). Mechanical safety device must push the roller (1-3) of electrical safety device. Try to raise
or lower the platform operating with controls in the motorbox – platform must don‘t move.

Check the functionality of safety device which controls blockage of the chain in overspeed
governor (look at picture in subsection 8.6.3):
- Insert the overspeed governor‘s chain blocking pin (2-1) in to dedicated slot (2-2) such
way that pin push the roller (2-3) of electrical safety device. Try to raise or lower the platform
operating with controls in the motorbox- platform must don‘t move.

8.6.5 Electric safety device to control if shaft doors are locked

Check, if the platform doesn’t move when shaft doors are open.

8.6.6 Electric safety device to control if shaft doors are open

Check, if the platform doesn’t move when shaft doors are open.

8.6.7 Over travel safety devices

There are two upper over travel limit/safety switches (3-1), one mechanical over travel limit
device/safety (4-1) and one lover overtravel limiting switch (5-1). Lower over travel limiting
switch is placed in same housing with reference point switch, but their activation time is
different. Upper over travel switches are placed on the platform and they are activated when
platform passes the upper stop and drives on the mechanical over travel limit device, which is
mounted on guide rail at maximum distance of 40 mm from the upper over travel limit switch.

- Manually check the safety gear leverage system. To check the leverage system, it is
necessary with help of the hands lift up and pull down the chain of the over speed governor.
During this movement of the chain check, if the leverage system works properly;
- Check, if both rollers of the safety gear activates at the same moment. If the rollers
activates not at the same moment it is important to contact the manufacturer;
- Check, if the rollers and other parts of the safety gear are not covered by dusts.
REMARK.The safety gear test have to be done not less than one’s in a year. The safety gear test
is performed with empty platform.
Safety gear test:
(1) Using a key open the machine room cover.
(2) Turn the platform control mode from “Normal” to “Maintenance”.
(3) If the platform is at bottom stop, using the SA2 control handle run the platform till about
2 meter height from the floor.
(4) Insert the mechanical safety device (pit prop) (a) to it’s working position (a-a) and the
over speed governor chain blocking device (b) to it’s working position (b-b) (see 8.1.2.1).
(5) In the main dashboard the connections X19 and X21 have to be changed with jumpers.
(6) Using the platform’s direction movement handle move down the platform – safety gear
have to catch the platform.
(7) When the safety gear activated disconnect the main power supply (A1) and the fuse for
the batteries (FU4).
(8) Move up the platform using the 12 mm socket key manually.
(9) Check, the activation places on the guide rails of the rollers, it should be at the same
level.
(10) In the machine room turn the platform’s movement mode handle from “Maintenance” to
“Normal”.
(11) Using triangular key, close the doors and make sure that it is closed.

8.6.12 Overload

Protection from overload is controlled by computerized system, which evaluates values of the
used current to move the platform lift. Microprocesor reads and calculates the values of the
current used and if the current value is higher or lower for setted period of time the audible and
visible indication of the overload appears.

Without the computerized system mentioned above for overload tracking is performed and by
mechanical overload device (1), which is working from the force of turning moment of the
motor.
If the overload is on the platform, it turns the motor, which activates the electric safety device
(2), that brakes the safety circuit and starts to light the overload indication light on the platform.

9. CLEANING OF THE PLATFORM LIFT

Cleaning of the platform lift is part of the maintenance process. When cleaning platform’s
keyboard and other control devices be sure that the water or any other liquid will not get inside it
and damage electronic parts.
Cleaning have to be done by competent person.
It should be clean those parts of the platform lift: enclosure of the shaft, shaft doors, pit of the
shaft, thresholds at the floors, platform, control devices – keyboard, call buttons at the floors.
It is recommended to clean aliuminium surfaces with soft cotton eraser using special liquids
for aluminium material cleaning.
It is recommended to clean glasses only with liquids made for this purpose.

10. SPECIAL TOOLS

To the set of the platform lift there are also and those special tools:
- Key to lock/unlock the mechanizm room door;
- Triangular key, for emergency opening of the doors;

11. SPARE PARTS

Use only the original platform lift spare parts. The spare parts for the platform lift can be
ordered from the manufacturer UAB BARDUVA or from the representative company of the
manufacturer.
