What’s New

A. The Atmosphere shows the percentage of gases in the earth's

atmosphere. The picture shows that it comprises about 78%
nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and one percent other gases. These gases
are significant and essential for humans or any living thing on
earth. Not only does it contain the oxygen we need to live, but
it also protects us from harmful ultraviolet solar radiation.

B. The Geosphere is the rocks and minerals we can find on earth,

whether molten rock and heavy metals in the deep interior of
the globe to the sand on beaches and peaks of mountains. If we
analyze the picture, we can see the earth’s layer. First is the
crust, which is the outermost shell of the earth. It is known
for being the thinnest layer on the planet. Next is the mantle,
a semi-molten rock called magma. And lastly, the outer and inner
cores of the earth’s layers both the inner and outer cores
consist primarily of iron and nickel. They're extremely hot.

C. The Hydrosphere is the total amount of water on a planet. Water

on the planet's surface, beneath, and in the atmosphere all
belong to the hydrosphere.
A planet's hydrosphere can exist as liquid, vapor, or ice. The
hydrosphere includes water storage areas such as oceans, seas,
lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams.

D. The Biosphere comprises the parts of Earth where life exists.

The biosphere includes the deepest tree roots, the shadowy
depths of the ocean, lush jungles, and tall mountain peaks. The
biosphere is the area of the earth, encompassing the air and
the ground, where living things exist. The areas of the
biosphere that support life on, above, and below the surface of
the Earth are examples. The region of the Earth and its
atmosphere where life can exist.
What’s More (Activity1.1)

The subsystem of the earth fits perfectly in the quote, “When one
tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of
the world.” Because even though they are like different puzzle
pieces, they work together as one to make planet earth habitable for
us and what it is today. The atmosphere protects the biosphere from
harmful ultraviolet solar radiation and gives us the oxygen we need
to live.

WHAT I CAN DO?

My Environment “TO DO” List

1. Educate all humans about what could happen if we chose a more

eco-friendly route.

2. Stop the burning of Fossil Fuels. When fossil fuels are burned,
they release large amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas
that traps heat in our atmosphere causing global warming.

3. Trees are essential to us. That is why we need to minimize its

use and plant loads. We require oxygen to breathe, which trees
emit. Trees lessen the quantity of stormwater runoff, which
reduces erosion, pollution, and possibly even the consequences of
flooding in our waterways. Trees provide the habitat of many
wildlife species. For many birds and mammals trees serve as a
source of food, shelter, and safety for many birds and mammals.

4. Choose more suitable alternatives that will not harm the earth in
the long run.

5. Be more responsible for my waste. By practicing the 3R’s Reuse,

Reduce and Recycle, we can minimize the ways and would also be
helpful for the planets and our next generations.
