    New invention and discoveries of science and technology led to continuing developments in the field of

    music. In other words Technology has been a game changer in music.

    ELECTRONIC MUSIC

     Is any music produced by electronic devices.


     It evolved and developed using software and edited into different forms.
     It is started from Music Concrete or Musique Concrete

    Music concrete (Musique concrete in French)

     It Was created in Paris.


     Using of tape recorder was first used by Engineer Composer Pierre Schaeffer.
     Composer uses tape recorder to record different sounds that are heard in the environment
    (Ask them what are those sounds can be heard in the environment)
     Different sound can be heard in the environment crying or laughing of infant, barking of dogs.
    Those recorded sound combined together and play in fastest mode or in reverse or in
    repetition.

    Different Features of Electronic Music

    1. Performance is not limited= Because in electronic music we can used different sounds that can be
    heard in our environment,

    2. Since Traditional music consist of simple melody and tune it cannot produce the sounds like electronic
    music that why electronic composers create new way of notating or writing their work in able to
    produce a new music genre which is electronic.

    3.Some composer abandoned the two elements of music which is the beat and meter and considered
    time in music for them to create organized sounds.

    CHANCE MUSIC

    Also known as Aleatronic music… Aleatronic music comes from the word Alea means dice.

    The chance music is one of the most radical trends of the twentieth century

    Performed by improvised instrument ( example of those instrument a bottle, glass or can which can
    produced sound) the surrounding can be used also as an instrument both natural and man made,

    Musician who perform it often use random sound and objects to create their pieces.

    Five categories

    1. The composer will choose song in order for him or her to create a musical ideas or what kind of
    materials will be used.

    2. To ensure the sequencing of music. The composer may flip a coin or roll a dice to make musical
    decision.

    3.Graphic or notation was being used wherein it represent musical sound in the form of small pictures
    and symbols. It allow the perfomer to be flexible In his or her interpretation.

    4. The perfomer rearranges the sequence of music through traditional notation and perform it in chosen
    order.

    5. Pure performer indeterminacy= Indeterminacy is the ability of a piece to be performed in different

    In Chance music the sequence, the materials used in music depends on the performer
