Course Description:
How can a student make a significant difference in an organization? One way is to be part of a
project that improves the company's performance or launches it in a new direction. The business
analyst (BA) plays a key role in the development and execution of company projects. Maybe it's a
new product launch or a change to a more efficient software package. The BA is responsible for
gathering input, analyzing the needs of the project, documenting the criteria to be met, sharing
information among project team members and presenting findings to company executives.
This course will provide a solid foundation for a career in business analysis. The course explores the
strategy, phases, components and process a BA uses to develop a project. From conducting an
enterprise analysis to assessing the solution's implementation, the students will learn the basics of
how to manage the process and determine the appropriate parties to be involved.
The course looks at project requirements (the needs that must be fulfilled to complete the initiative),
how to develop a communications plan, distributing work responsibilities, creating a business model
and more. The course finishes with a discussion about tasks that the BA encounters when the
solution is put into place.
Course Objectives:
Learning Outcomes:

a strategic framework, students would develop an understanding on all the key drivers of supply chain performance i.e., inventory,
facilities, transportation, information, sourcing and pricing. By the end of this course, students would be able to define, and classify
the various issues related to supply chain performance and subsequently classify, implement, demonstrate, differentiate and possibly
critique the various parameters related to the successful performance of supply chains.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course the students are expected to:
Discuss the goal of supply chain and interprete the impact of supply chain decisions on the success of a firm.
Compare, contrast, and differentiate the techniques related to routing and logistics design, inventory management, quality
assurance and to deduce the best possible solutions for the same.
Identify and classify individual location specific characteristics and to determine using the available facility location techniques,
the optimal location for establishment of a manufacturing or service supply chain.
Demonstrate through the presentation of individual supply-chain level projects, the clarity in communicating the various
characteristics of multiple supply chains and the operational uniqueness therein.
Classify and interprete the various techniques related to aggregate planning, demand and capacity forecasting, transportation
and network design and develop documented evidence of optimal solutions.
IBS Hyderabad (Academic Year – 2022-23)
Demonstrate the students’ internal orientation in managing the supply chain of a firm, through their understanding and
successful mitigation of critical supply chain issues.

of importance to Operations, Finance, Marketing and Human Resource management domain students. The dynamic nature of a project specification,
evolving products technologies, and rising cost of capital are interdisciplinary constraints to finance and operations managers. Projects in today’s world
operate across multiple geographic locations for its resource and delivery point requirements. Successful integration/completion/termination of a
project require skills from domains such as research and development, customer relationship management, quality control, material/services
procurement, training and development, compliance to regulations, and even project financing bodies.
The course is to assist students to interpret clients’ needs for listing project specifications, plan and organize project elements, priorities resource
assignments to project, inspect project progress, judge completion of various project milestones, utilize risk assessment tools, and evaluate its impact on
project’s costs and completion time. The course requires students to form teams and work on a real life / hypothetical project.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course a student is expected to:
• Define project specification/scopes as per stakeholders’ requirements, compare various feasible project scope solutions, select feasible
alternative/solution, construct a project master plan, project charters, dissect project into work, time, and resource elements.
• Identify and select project management tools and techniques, skills and competencies required for managing a project from conceptualization, to its
execution and delivery. • Recall, choose, and apply relevant frameworks, methodologies, techniques and tools that could help in planning, organizing,
leading, communicating, and controlling processes, material and human resources required for running a project successfully.

Course Description:
The intent of the service operations management course is to provide students with an understanding of the analysis, decision making
and implementation issues of managing the operational aspects of a service. There must be a strategy for providing service, which
matches the target market with the strengths of the Service Company. Furthermore, the operational decision-making must support the
service strategy of the company. Decisions such as location, layout, capacity, inventory, distribution and quality assurance must be in
place. We must effectively address the management of technologies and human resources. Borrowing techniques from the
manufacturing sector can resolve some issues; others are uniquely service oriented and require special consideration. The course will
have a comprehensive and systematic coverage of service operations.
Service firms have unique characteristics that challenge managers. For example, service firms are people-oriented because of the
direct interaction with customers. Customers generally participate in the service process, often with direct and uncensored interactions
with employees and facilities. The resulting variations in demand present a challenge to the operations manager to effectively use the
perishable service capacity. This results because production and consumption occur simultaneously and thus the inability to inventory
services. The intent of the course is to provide students with the concepts and tools necessary to effectively manage a service
operation.
Course Objectives:
• Define and state the underlying processes involved in the creation and delivery of services.
IBS Hyderabad (Academic Year – 2022-23)
• Identify, define, and discuss the major issues in the service delivery process and the various parameters required to be
examined before and during the service design process.
• Design and execute competitive service strategies.
• Classify, implement, and examine the qualitative and quantitative metrics towards describing various service parameters to
improve the service delivery process.
• Define and quantitatively identify the efficiency frontier in services using Data envelopment Analysis.
Learning Outcomes:
Identify the nature of the service and design the underlying strategy.
Implement the concepts related to location, layout, logistics, servicescape, and quality parameters towards optimal managerial
decision making.
Define, classify, implement and quantitatively demonstrate the success of service operations programs.
Identify and interprete the usage of yield management to better the utility of service facilities and enhance productivity.

Evaluation Timelines
Keeping in line with continuous evaluation at IBS the following evaluation schedule has been drawn. Students are expected to
go through the dates / sessions mentioned and prepare accordingly.
Course Description
Recent developments in information and communication have led to the rapid increase of data-
driven decision making. Supply chain analytics has become one of the fastest growing business
intelligence application areas. The topics covered in this course include supplier analytics, sales
and operations planning, location analysis and network management, demand-supply matching,
inventory management and sourcing. The primary goal of the course is to familiarize the students
with tactical and strategic issues surrounding the design and operation of supply chains, to
develop supply chain analytical skills for solving real life problems, and to teach students a wide
range of methods and tools -in the areas of predictive, descriptive and prescriptive analytics- to
efficiently manage demand and supply networks.
Course Objectives
1) Understand the nature of supply chains leading to their development and growth.
2) Develop skills necessary for data mining of procurement and vendor data. Analyze the
data and make appropriate sourcing decisions.
3) Identify the key goals and performance drivers of the supply chain. He/she can examine
the key supply chain performance metrics.
4) Develop an understanding on the data relevant to vendor, procurement, sales, production,
inventory and how to make appropriate decisions in supply chains.
5) Model the supply chain network designs. Use excel solver to solve optimization models
pertaining to location and other network related decisions.
6) Make use of various statistical tools used in supply chain strategy, planning and design.
