I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

A. define social, moral, and economic issues;


B. recognize the types of text listened to (social, moral, economic), and
C. determine the issues discussed in the text listened to.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Determining Various social, Moral, and Economic Issues Discussed in the Text
listened to.
B. Reference: Internet
C. Values Integration: Build good comprehension skills.
D. Materials: Laptop, Projector, Video presentation, Chalkboard

III. Procedure

A. Preliminaries:
 Opening Prayer
 Greetings and Checking of attendance
B. Review
Can you recall our previous discussion?

C. Motivation
4 Pics 1 Word
The teacher will present some photos and the students must guess the words by looking at
pictures.
Directions: Guess the word by looking at four pictures.
Answers: 1. Poverty
2. Abortion
3. Inflation
4. Bullying
5. Homeless
D. Presentation of the topic:
1. Based from the activity, what have you noticed?
2. What is an issue?
3. What is a social, moral, and economic issues?

Issue- an important topic or problem for debate or discussion.

Social Issue- a problem that influences many citizens within a society.

people strive to solve.

Moral Issue- actions which have the potential to help or harm others/ourselves.

Economic Issue- concerned with the organization of the money, industry, and trade of
country, region, or society.
Examples:
Unemployment
Poverty
Poor healthcare
Income inequality
Inflation
Pandemic

*What is the issue?

1. Last year proved to be challenging for the labor market as many Filipino became jobless
with businesses closing or downsizing operations amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Answer: Jobless Filipino workers due to pandemic. (Economic Issue)

2. Millions of children do dangerous, dirty jobs. Even at very young ages, they are forced to
work in mines and factories, as house slaves and prostitutes. This is bad for their health
and damages their development.
Answer: Millions of child do dangerous dirty Jobs. (Social Issue).

3. All Arabs and Muslims are terrorists.

Answer: Stereotyping (social issue).

4. Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 8)- The Philippines has recorded a 7%
increase in births among girls aged 15 and below in 2019. up from the figure on teenage
pregnancies in 2018. The Commission on Population and Development sold over the
weekend.
In a statement on Sunday, PopCom cited the latest data from the Philippines Statistics
Authority which revealed that Filipino minors who gave birth in 2019 increased to 62,
510 from 62, 341 in 2018.

Answer: Teenage Pregnancy (Moral Issue)
