CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A. Background of Paper
Technology nowadays has become an important part of life. Almost every
parts of our lives are relate with the use of technology. One of them is in our
education. Moreover, in the world of education teaching of a language.
In this era we understand that various foreign languages and English are
important things to learn. Teaching English has existed for many years and is
significantly growing due to the encouragement of the internet. With the rapid
development of science and technology, the emergence of multimedia technology
and the application of learning by displaying audio, visual, animation effects in
teaching English and establishing a platform that is very beneficial for learning
English teaching models in the new era. Evidence shows that multimedia
technology plays a positive role and has an effect on student initiative and
promoting better teaching in English classrooms.

Why Use Word Processors
For Teachers, Teachers can prepare, Create, and share materials. And for
learners : Learners can practice writing skills, grammar and othe
language pounts as well as to present their works
Word processors are a valuable part of the technology now available for
educators in schools. Students and teachers both receive many benefits when
doing classwork on the computer. Many of the headaches of paperwork are
eliminated. [Hamel, 2018] Word processors facilitate writing and editing,
especially with their ability to copy and move text (“cut-and-paste”), their built-in
dictionaries to check spelling, and their grammar checkers. Other common
features include a wide choice of typographic fonts and sizes, various paragraph
and page layouts, tools for finding and replacing strings of characters, and word
counts. Modern word processors also have many features once reserved for
desktop publishing systems, such as table creation and importation of graphic
images. They typically provide templates for common document types, such as
letters, memos, and résumés, and can generate multiple copies of a document with
recipient addresses drawn from a list (“mail merge”). [Britannica, 2022]

2. Creating forms
3. Using TrackChanges
Word comes with certain ‘tracking’ or ‘versioning’ tools built in. These
tools allow documents to be shared among a group of users, with each
user’s changes and edits highlighted in a different colour and identified
their initials (or by the user name used to install the word processor
originally). When a document has been edited using these tools, any
changes made by the second writer (format changes, word order, deletions,
inserted comments, and so on) will be highlighted for the original author to
see. The original author can then choose to accept or reject each suggested
change.
4. Using Markin
This is another Windows program that aids the correction of word
processed work from learners. It comes with a series of tools for marking
up grammar mistakes, spelling errors, word order and other common
errors, using a series of abbreviations which will be familiar to most
teachers and different colours for different types of errors. Once the teacher
has finished correcting a text, it can be returned as a word processed
document, or uploaded to a web server as a webpage. It can even be mailed
from within the program itself. In many ways, then, Markin can replace the
TrackChanges tool.
6
There are some potential downsides to using word processors – not the
least of which is working with mixed technological ability classes where
typing skills ( or lack of them ) may play a large part in performance
anxiety and in the pace at which activities are carried out. Some attention
must be paid to not putting too much pressure on your learners to perform
too quickly.
Further Activities
1. Dictation
A simple word processing activity to start with is a dictation from the
teacher – in this case the opening few lines of a creative writing narrative.
This should be treated as a standard dictation, and the learners should input
(type) the text as they listen. Once you have dictated the first few lines, try
introducing a small round of peer correction, with learners exchanging
texts and making edits to their partner’s text, possibly using TrackChanges,
before moving on to a final round of teacher-led correction.
2. Noticing activity
An activity which encourages noticing of structures at lower levels, and for
younger learners, is for pairs of learners to produce a short descriptive text.
3. Collaborative writing activity
A well – known writing activity is that of the collaborative story, where a
story is started by one learner or pair, and then passed to subsequent pairs
of learners, who add to the story.

also provide tools to insert pictures, edit photos, draw objects, and produce
graphic organizers. The range of options available within word processing
programs make them versatile to the user.
It is very likely that your students will be required to use word processing
software to complete school assignments. In addition, many of them will need
word processing skills later in life when they enter the workplace. For these
reasons, it is important to include word processing skills when planning classroom
activities.
The great news is that using Microsoft Word can be fun! There are so many
products your students can create using word processing software.

journal web page
poem calendar
poster questionnaire

When selecting a product you want students to create using a word processing
program, it is essential to determine the technology skills that are required. In
addition, consider the students’ grade level and previous computer experience
prior to selecting a task. Word processing skills can be grouped into basic and
advanced levels of difficulty. [TechnoHella, 2011]

Word processing is a type of software that focuses on the ability to handle text.
The computer does this by assigning each letter of the alphabet and each other
character on the keyboard a specific numeric code. These numeric codes are
translated into computer machine language, and stored in the computer's memory.

Because the information is in memory, it is very easy to change and manipulate.
This is the key to the success of word. [Team, 2017]

The basic features of the word processors are
Insert Text : allow you to insert text anywhere
Delete text : allows you to erase text , characters, words or lines
Cut ,copy , paste : cut allows you to move an item in a copy mode, copy
allows you to duplicate while paste allows you to insert an item that has
already being cut or copied
Page size and Margin : this allows you to adjust your page size and
margins
Search and replace: this allow you to search for a particular word with the
option of replacing it with another word . asifjasoijfoiadsjf
Other features of the standard Word processor are :
File management
Font specification
Headers , footers and page numbers
Layouts
Macros
Spell checkers
Thesaurus
Table of content and index.
Office Aplication
The Microsoft Office suite incorporates the following:
Word Processori.e. Ms Word
Spread sheet i.e. Ms Excel
Presentation Package i.e. Ms PowerPoint
Database Package i.e. Ms Access
Web Page/ website development package i.e Front Page
Entering Text
To enter text, just begin typing from the keyboard at the insertion point. The
insertion point moves to the right as you type. When you come to the end of the line

CHAPTER III
CLOSING
A. Conclusion
A word processor is a type of software application used for composing,
editing, formatting and printing documents. Word processors have a variety of uses
and applications within the business environment, at home and in educational
contexts. Word processing means to use a computer to create, edit, format and print
documents. The great advantage of word processing over using a typewriter is that
you can make changes without retyping the entire document. Many features can be
used using word processors. Word processors can be used in many inventive ways, by
both teachers and students. Teachers can prepare, create, store and share materials for
their classes by using a word processing program, and learners can use a word
processing program both in and outside the classroom, to practise writing skills,
grammar and other language points, as well as to present their work.
