BSMARE- SCAVENGER
A-reflect on rizals incarceration. supposing you were given an hour to walk with him in the grounds as he
was permitted by the authorities to do so. not knowing him personally and being with him for just a
moment as a friend, whtat would you discuss with him about life? in 8-10 sentences only.
If I had the opportunity to walk with Rizal in the prison grounds, I would first express my sympathies for
his unjust imprisonment and ask him how he was coping with the situation. From there, I would ask him
about his thoughts on the importance of education and how it can be used to uplift one's countrymen.
I would also be interested in hearing his views on the role of literature in society and how it can be used
to inspire change. As a writer myself, I would be curious to know how he found the courage to express
his ideas despite the risks he faced.
I would also ask him about his personal philosophy on life and how he maintained his faith and optimism
in the face of such adversity. Finally, I would express my admiration for his unwavering commitment to
his principles and his willingness to sacrifice his own freedom for the sake of his countrymen.
Overall, I would be honored to walk with Rizal and would try to learn as much as I could from his wisdom
and experience.
B-The issue of Rizal’s retraction has long been controversial and still being debated upon. Considering
the arguments of both sides and the trivia given here, do you think Rizal retracted his Masonic views and
embraced again the Catholic faith before he died? Or did he remain a Mason? Write your answer in 5-8
sentences only
The issue of Rizal's retraction remains a topic of controversy and debate to this day. Some argue that
Rizal retracted his Masonic views and embraced the Catholic faith before he died out of fear of the
Church or to gain clemency from the Spanish authorities. However, others argue that Rizal remained a
Mason and that his alleged retraction was either fabricated or coerced.
There is evidence to support both arguments, but it is difficult to determine with certainty which one is
true. Rizal's letter to Ponce in which he expressed his desire to return to the Catholic faith suggests that
he did, in fact, retract his Masonic views. However, some historians believe that this letter was either
forged or written under duress.
On the other hand, some historians point to Rizal's writings and actions as evidence that he remained a
Mason until his death. For example, his last poem, "Mi Ultimo Adios," contains Masonic symbolism and
references to the ideals of the Masonic fraternity.
Ultimately, the truth about Rizal's retraction may never be fully known, and it remains a subject of
ongoing debate among historians and scholars.
