WRITING TASK 1
1. You are going to teach English to your friend’s child. Write a letter to your past English
teacher to ask if you can borrow some books from him/her.

In your letter

 tell your teacher about the child;


 say when and where you will teach the child;
 Explain what books you would like to borrow.

2. A cafe near your home puts some chairs and tables on the pavement for customers. This
creates a problem for you. Write a letter to the cafe manager to complain about this matter.

 say what you will do if this matter is not resolved.

3. Your friend asked you to find a part-time job for him/her to earn some money while studying.
You found a job that might be suitable for him/her. Write a letter to your friend.

4. The sports center that you regularly visit has a problem with some of its equipment. Write a
letter to the center manager.

5. Your workplace does not have a car park, causing some problems. Write a letter to your
manager.

6. You have recently read a book and noticed some incorrect information about a place you
know. Write a letter to the author of the book.

7. You have traveled to another city for a company meeting and stayed at a hotel. When you
returned, you discovered you had forgotten something important in your hotel room. Write a

12. You visit a cafe every day. Write a letter to the manager of the restaurant.

13. You recently discovered plans to build a new airport in your area and are unhappy with it.
Write a letter to the local authority.

14. You have recently read a book about a city you know well and found some incorrect
