Background of The Study
The Philippines is a country known for it’s lust and beautiful nature teaming with wildlife and a high number of migrant citizens working abroad. With the rapid growth of the population and the insufficiency of our economy and government to provide jobs, it is no surprise that many Filipinos resorted in search of jobs abroad. As a result, the migrating individuals are left with no choice but to leave their children in the care of their relatives. Children with parental involvement are seen and perceive with many positive effects, this does not only a high academic achievement but includes an increase in an individual’s self-esteem, motivation, self- efficacy, which may lead to one’s success regardless of background. On the other hand, children of OFW parents are preconceived to a life of rebellious act and hard headedness. Hence, failure in academic and life success. The Prejudice towards Filipino that works abroad comprehend a life of opportunity, financial freedom and a better life for their beloved family here and abroad. For decades an uncountable number of Filipinos have left the country in search of permanent settlement or brief work overseas, due to low minimum wage and salary of companies which includes professional works such as engineering, nursing, and teachers. With such a case many who prefer to work domestically are left with no choice but to leave their professional jobs including their child in the country. In the hope of better-paying job Overseas to uplift their standard of living in the Philippines that is why it is not a Surprise why they chose to work abroad rather than in the Philippines. During the term of president Aquino a more vigorous marketing strategy for Filipino Overseas employment was pursued. Working abroad was made more accessible Marketing missions were sent abroad to look for more employers of Filipino workers every year. Filipino labor. The target then was to deploy half a million Filipino workers every year. However a more aggressive move for overseas jobs has been adopted under president Arroyo’s administration targeting one million overseas jobs year In the year 2006 a total 1,062,567 Filipino have been deployed hitting the target of 1 million This figure is expected to continue increasing despite the economic recession being experienced globally.
Working overseas has positive and negative effects on
the individual themselves and their children. Many Filipino parents tend to work abroad to sustain the needs of their children, especially in terms of their education In the last 30 years there has been a rapid increase of Filipino parent leaving the country to seek better opportunities. According to a report from the Philippines Statistics Authority. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW’s)are estimated at around 2.3 million during the period of April to September 2017 it is said the most immigrants to Canada came from Asia. The top four of its country is the Philippines. While in 2018, more than 10 million documented Filipino migrants or about 10 percent of the popular are working and living abroad (Philstar Global) At present Grade 12 students of Legazpi City National High School is dealing with a life that their parents are an OFW. With these the researcher will conduct a research to know the life of having a parent in other countries. Scope and Delimitation This Qualitative study will determine the profile of the grade 11 students in terms of Age, gender, and status. It utilize by Grade 11 students. The study also covered the reason why these experience and situation in addition. Descriptive statistics will be used to deal with the gathered data from the respondents utilizing the structure questionnaire. The questionnaire includes the profile of the Grade 11 students, the experience of a student having an OFW parents utilized and the reason why this topic were chosen by Grade 11 students of Legazpi City National High School. Descriptive students research design of research was followed by this study. Significance of the study The significance of this study aimed to provide information with regard to the life experience of a student having an OF0W parents utilized by Grade 11 student of Legazpi City National High School. That was used as the basis to gather ideas that is needed by the researchers. Furthermore, this study can benefit the following. Students: The researcher engage the student to get information and more knowledge as to what factor affecting the student having OFW parents in Grade 11 students of Legazpi National High School. Researcher: This study add information which some researcher may need in preparation of their researcher. The result of the study may also serve as bridge to the future studies which other may dwell. Future Researchers: This study can serve as a reference material and guide to the future researchers who will perform the same study. In order for them to have prior knowledge and related students.
