1. The document is a daily lesson plan for a science class discussing the horizontal and vertical motions of projectiles. 2. The lesson plan outlines objectives, content, procedures including engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate sections, and remarks on student attendance and participation. 3. Key concepts to be covered include identifying and explaining the horizontal and vertical motions of a projectile, considering examples like a thrown ball, cliff diver, and golf ball, and having students apply what they've learned to solve practice problems.

DAILY LESSON PLAN in SCIENCE 9

S.Y. 2022- 2023
TEACHER Teremie Joseph C. Obado Teaching April 27, 2023
Date
Lauan 8:30 – 9:30
QUARTER 4th Quarter Teaching Yakal 2:00-3:00
Time Molave 3:00-4:00

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of projectile
motion, impulse and momentum, and conservation of linear
momentum
B. Performance The learners should be able to propose ways to
Standard enhance sports related to projectile motion
C. Learning Competency Describe the horizontal and vertical motions of a projectile (S9FE-
IVa-34)
D. Specific Objectives 1. Identify the horizontal and vertical motions of a projectile.
2. Explain horizontal and vertical motions of a projectile.
II. CONTENT & LEARNING RESOURCES
A. Topic The Horizontal and Vertical Motion of a Projectile
B. References LM page ________, Teacher’s Guide page ____, Science Module
Q4W1 page 19-33
C. Materials PowerPoint, Answer Sheet, Internet
III. PROCEDURE
A. Elicit a. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
 Checking of attendance and assignment
b. Review about the equation d=vt
B. Engage  Introduce the concept of projectile motion by asking
students to think about throwing a ball. Ask them to
describe what happens when the ball is thrown, and prompt
them to consider the horizontal and vertical motions of the
ball.
 Write their responses on the board.
C. Explore  Provide students with a toy or model projectile and ask
them to take turns tossing it to each other while you time
them. Encourage them to notice the horizontal and vertical
motions of the projectile as it moves through the air.
 Consider the rider as it takes off a cliff and the golf ball as it
flies into the air
and returns back to the ground.
1.What do you think is the projectile in situation A? In situation
B?
2. What happens to the motion of the rider as it takes off from
the cliff?
3. What happens to the vertical motion of the golf ball as it rises
in the air (it increases, it decreases)
4. When the golf ball reaches the maximum height what
happens to the vertical velocity?
5. When the golf ball returns to the ground the vertical velocity
will (increase, decrease)
D. Explain  Use a slideshow presentation to explain the concepts of
horizontal and vertical motion in more detail. Show
examples of projectiles in motion, and use diagrams to help
illustrate the principles at work. Provide definitions of key
terms and encourage students to ask questions as needed.
Horizontally Launched Projectiles

The vertical velocity of the marble is gradually increasing from

points A to D. Due to the presence of gravity accelerating at -9.8
m/s 2 this causes the
vertical velocity (Vy) to increase.
For the horizontal velocity (Vx), there is no external net force acting
along the horizontal direction which means that there is no
acceleration along this direction (ax = 0), resulting to a constant
horizontal velocity (Vx)

Angle-Launched Projectiles

The vertical velocity of the baseball as it rises to the air

decreases due to the opposing direction of gravity compared to its
motion. When the baseball reaches the maximum height, its
vertical velocity becomes zero. When it descends its vertical
velocity increases since the direction of the baseball’s motion is the
same with gravity.
E. Elaborate Have them work together to solve the problems, applying the
concepts they've learned to calculate the horizontal and vertical
velocities of the projectiles. Encourage them to use diagrams and
equations to help them solve the problems.
Make a generalization on horizontal ang vertical motion (Modified
True or False)
F. Evaluate True or False: Write TRUE in the space provided if the statement is
correct and write FALSE if the statement is incorrect. In a separate
paper attached your explanation why the statement is true or false.
_______ 1.The horizontal velocity (Vx) in horizontally launched
projectiles is always constant.
_______ 2.In angle-launched projectile, the vertical velocity (Vy)
decreases as the projectile rises.
_______ 3. In angle-launched projectile, the projectile’s velocity
becomes zero at its maximum height.
_______ 4. The vertical velocity (Vy) of a projectile that descends,
decreases in angle-launched projectiles.
_______5. There is an external force acting on the horizontal
motion of a projectile.
G. Extend Suggest they watch videos of sports games or research historical
battles that involved projectiles.
List at least 2 scenarios that involve projectile motion.
