ASSIGNMENT’S TITLE MY DREAM VACATION
LECTURER MISS NOR ATIKAH BINTI AZNAN
INTRODUCTION
The company I have been working for has rewarded me as the most well-performed employee
of the year where I got to enjoy a paid vacation in the country of my choice and the trip is fully
sponsored by them. Therefore, the purpose of this report is to give a detailed plan for my trip.
The place I want to visit is Athens, Greece which is one of the well-known cities for its
archeological sites especially Acropolis. As a person with a deep interest in ancient history,
philosophers and Greek mythologies, it is one of the most desired places I want to set foot on.
There are also a lot of interesting buildings with mesmerizing architecture that a lot of tourists
went for the sake of pictures or just enjoying its beauty.
I’ll be staying for 6 days 5 nights from 17th January until 23rd January 2023. Since I’m an indoor
person which means I prefer doing an indoor activities, a lot of my trip field with activities of
visiting museums, monuments and anything that’s similar to them. I enjoy surrounding myself
with knowledge of cultural heritage , ancient history and mythology. Besides Acropolis, I also plan
to visit places where stories from ancient mythology took place like the Temple of Olympian Zeus
and Roman and Hadrian’s Library. I’m very excited for this trip and have made a proper plan as
well as preparing backup plans if any occurrence might disturb my trip.
FLIGHT DETAILS AND FARES
In order to ensure the smoothness of my trip journey, I’ll be providing three airline companies to
make a comparison and observe the details which would provide top-notch quality during my
flight journey. Therefore I have prepared the tabulated data about the aspects I considered to be
compared between each company:

ACCOMMODATIONS
Since I’ll be visiting Athens, it is ideal to choose a hotel or any accommodations that are located
near the center of Athens city to make my trip more convenient. Therefore I’ve chosen three
accommodations including hotels and apartments and prepared tabulated data to make a
comparison to choose which one would provide me an excellent experience during my stay in
Greece.

HOTEL/APARTMENT LOCATION ROOM OPTION MYR/ PER NIGHT

The Residence Monastiraki Triple Room 1026
Aioulou Suites and
SPA
Crowne Plaza: Athens Michalacopoulou Premium Room 872
Athens City Center
Luxury Suites Kalimarmaro Deluxe Apartment 295

1) The Residence Aiolou Suites and SPA

This hotel got 9.3/10 on Booking.com website reviews and a lot of solo travelers recommended
this place as it provides outstanding service and excellent value. Since I will be relying a lot on
public transportation, this hotel would be the best option for me as its location is within 300
meters from the main metro station, Monastiraki Station. The price is the most expensive one
out of my other 2 options, but it’s understandable since it provides a lot of high-quality amenities
as well as services. I also got a city view from my room and the most exciting part is the landmark
view which is the view of Acropolis City. Furthermore, the room option I chose will also provide
me with a breakfast service and free cancellation before 13 January 2023.
2) Crowne Plaza: Athens
Crowne Plaza is a 5-star hotel rated with 8.6/10 on the Hotels.com website. It is an IHG
(InterContinental Hotel Group) Hotel that features a rooftop terrace and it’s an ideal choice for
me as this hotel is located within a 10-minute drive of Syntagma Square which is also near
Syntagma metro station. The hotel is also near the few places I want to visit during my stay in
Greece such as the Temple of Olympian Zeus which is a 10-minute drive away from my place. The
room option I chose is Premium Room, which is one king bed with a room size slightly bigger than
the standard room. It also includes breakfast for 2 people as well as free WiFi.
3) Athens City Center Luxury Suites
Since I’ve chosen quite luxurious and pricey accommodations, I decided to find an apartment
with affordable prices but can also provide me with high-quality service. Athens City Center
Luxury Suites offer a garden view, a terrace ,and free WiFi and are located conveniently in Athens,
within a short distance of Panathenaic Stadium, the Museum of Cycladic Art, and Syntagma
Square. The room option I’ve chosen is Deluxe Apartment, which has complete facilities that
make you feel at home and what excites me the most is they also provide a coffee machine. It is
also flexible to reschedule if there is any changes in my plan.
ITINERARY
On the day of my arrival in Athens, Greece, I will check-in in at the hotel/apartment and unpack
my stuff and give myself a rest since I would get jet lag from those long hours on the flight. I’m
expecting I’ll arrive on 18 January since most of my flight departure time is late evening.
Therefore, my activities will start at night to go get some food for my dinner.

BACKUP PLAN IN CASE OF CHANGE IN WEATHER
Greece in January is usually sees relatively mild winters. It is a rare occurrence for freak
snowstorms and colder temperatures but in case bad weather would happen and affect my
original planned trip, I have prepared another alternative to enjoy my trip. Most of the activities
I’m going to do is an indoor activity which I think might not affect that much even if during bad
weather. Despite that fact, I might have to replace my plan to visit an open-air cinema and watch
sunset at ‘Vrahakia’ of the Acropolis during my last day in Greece.
1) THERMAL SPA: LAKE VOULIAGMENI
It is a place where you can warm up yourself during cold winter. The natural lake water helps to
rejuvenate yourself and fish spa is also available. In addition, they also provide private
transportation by luxury car or minivan and English-speaking private drivers sharing tips and
stories

2) Street Art in Exarcheia

Walking leisurely while watching a lot murals on the street art with a hot cup of coffee in the
hand during the cold winter in Exarcheia sounds great too. There are also a lot of bookshops and
cafes nearby as well as music and vinyl shops
3) National Library of Greece
Enjoying rainy day with a book in your hand couldn’t be more comforting. I could also expand my
knowledge about history in Greece while being mesmerized by the architecture of the building.
The spacious space filled with beautiful landscape sounds fun for me. There is also a lot of event,
performances, and seminars at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre.
GROUND TRAVEL PLAN
For public transportation, I decided to buy 5-day ticket which is an unlimited travel ticket for 5
days using any public transportation; metro, bus and etc that costs me 9€/RM43.15

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
VISAS
It is not a requirement for Malaysians to bring visas to Greece, however considering the flight
journey that might have transit to certain countries that required visas, it’s advisable to bring one
with you. As for me, none of the transit required me to bring a visa.
INTERNET SERVICES
On flight, boarding on business class will grant the privilege of internet service however it’s the
opposite for economy class. In addition, most of the accommodations I’ve selected provide free
WiFi services, despite that fact, I still need to buy a mobile data plan so I could have internet
access outside of the place I’m staying in.
MOBILE DATA PLAN
Digi provided international roaming passes and data plans with an affordable price. The price
range differs according to the continent. For Europe countries, there are 2 options:

• 7-day 2GB 30mins RM50

• 14-day 4GB 60mins RM75
ELECTRIC CHARGING PORTS
There are currently 15 types of domestic electrical outlet plugs in use worldwide, each of which
has been assigned a letter by the US Department of Commerce International Trade
Administration (ITA), starting with A and moving through alphabet. As for Greece, which is one
of European countries, using plug type F. It has 2 pins and fully compatible with socket type E. I
have prepared myself by purchasing international universal adapter on Lazada.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Travel insurance is insurance that provides a variety benefits to protect the insured during the
trip such as lost baggage, loss passport, personal accident, trip cancellation and a lot other
unfortunate events that we could not expect would happen during the journey. Therefore I took
Etiqa Travel Insurance Gold Plan which has medical coverage up to RM300,000 which only costs
me RM68.80.
BACKUP PLAN IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
GENERAL
By applying for Etiqa Travel Insurance, there’s less thing to worry as they covered almost
everything I need, from flight cancellation to my medical health. Both death or permanent
disability and medical coverage they insured up to RM300,000, losses or damages to the
baggage up to RM3,000, travel delay up to RM2,000 with minimum of 2 hours delay, and loss of
travel documents of up to RM1,000.
If any unavoidable and unsolvable issue or event might occur, the best thing to do is cancel my
whole trip and planned them again for the next time.
CONCLUSION
I’ve finalized my choice choosing the three options available for airline companies and
accommodations. I decide to take Emirates Airline as it provides the best services and based on
the reviews I’ve read, I’m expecting I would have a quality experience on board. Its features of
chauffeur drive service and inflight entertainment attracted me more to take them as my final
choice. As for accommodations, I chose The Residence Aioulou Suites and SPA I’ll be staying
during my stay in Greece. It’s not just going to provide me hospitality I needed but also a
relaxing spa service that would definitely help to relieve my jet lag. The hotel also received
countless of positive reviews and its overall rating is 9.2/10 which is absolutely incredible. They
managed to reach the level of satisfaction of each of their guests, and I’m expecting nothing but
an excellent experience during my stay in the hotel.
I’m hoping for a memorable experience in Athens, Greece and left with a jovial feeling and no
regrets. I hope everything will flow smoothly and move according to my plan so I could fully
enjoy my time in the place of my dream. Greece is a place where I never thought I could go that
only will live as my dream, and given this opportunity to make my dream come true, there’s
nothing but happiness and gratitude for this, and finally, I could tick this off from my bucket list.
To conclude, planning your trip thoughtfully is important as it will help you to widen your vision
into seeing the aspects that a lot of people might miss out when they are travelling then the
supposed memorable trip become a traumatic experience. Moreover, it helps you to learn how
to manage your time efficiently and knowing your priorities. It would also lesser the chance of
any unfortunate event occur during the trip and you could savor the anticipation of beautiful
moments without worries.
