1.
INTRODUCTION
TO SUSTAINABLE
TECHNOLOGY
4
WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE
TECHNOLOGY?

innovation that considers natural resources and

fosters economic and social development. The goal
of these technologies is to drastically reduce
environmental and ecological risks and to create a
sustainable product.

5
110.48616
metric tons of co2 emmisions from Malaysia are
predicted by 2030

6
WHY OFFICE
BUILDING?

-use materials that retain heat well

-Harvesting rain and recycling wastewater

- low-carbon in the design and construction

GREEN
INSULATION
9
THERMAL INSULATION

╺ Process of insulating material from transferring

heat between the materials that are in thermal
contact.

╺ is measured by its thermal conductivity. Low

thermal-conductive materials are used for
thermal insulation.

╺ Besides thermal conductivity, density and heat

capacity are also important properties of
insulating materials.

10
THERMAL INSULATION

made from insulation materials which is:

╺ Fibreglass
╺ Mineral wool
╺ cellulose insulation
╺ polystrene
╺ polyurethane

11
THERMAL INSULATION

A technology that can reduced energy consumption in

building.

╺ Thermal insulation material comes in many forms

including sheet, bulk fibre or rods and bars

A thermal material with low thermal conductivity can:

╺ mantain inside temperature of building

╺ stop cold/heat leak into the building

12

ZERO ENERGY
13
SOLAR ENERGY

╺ Convert sunlight into electrical energy either

through photovoltaic (PV) panels or through
mirrors that concentrate solar radiation.

╺ solar power will not run out

╺ possible for any country

14
SOLAR ENERGY

Types of Solar Energy Technologies:

Photovoltaic (PV)

– directly convert light to electricity;

Concentrating solar power (CSP)

– heat is being used from the sun (thermal energy) to drive

electric turbines, utility-scale, and

Solar heating and cooling (SHC) systems

– accumulate thermal energy to supply hot water and air

heating and/ or conditioning

15
SOLAR ENERGY

Reduce electricity bills

╺ generate more electricity

Low cost of organizing

╺ A specialized cleaning company

Non polluting
╺ no waste products, noise or other output

16
4.
GREEN
BUILDING
17
GREEN BUILDING

the main principle in green building are:

╺ makes building more energy-efficient and

sustainable

╺ Enhance the health and productivity of the

tenants.

╺ Minimize resource consumption

╺ protect the natural environment

18
GREEN BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

sustainable technologies that used in green

buildings are:

╺ Water efficiency technologies

╺ Biodegradable materials

╺ Self-powered building

╺ Electrochromic smart glass

19
GREEN BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

Benefits of green building technology:

Economics
╺ more energy and water savings than a normal
building

Environmental
╺ use renewable energies and preserve the
resource

Social
╺ minimizes strain on local infrastructure

20
5.
CONCLUSION
21
WE CAN CONCLUDE THAT:

Sustainable technology can:

╺ Reduce energy consumption

╺ saving land resources and water use

╺ can enchance people’s quality life

╺ environmental friendly energy-saving

╺ maximize effectiveness in construction
