Energy Security
Energy Security
1) Energy security is when a country or place has an uninterrupted supply of cheap and
affordable energy.
2) Natural factors can affect energy supply as a lot of energy that we have comes from the
ground and if you live in a place where naturally have no fossil fuels underground or
naturally haven’t got any geothermal activity. Also, natural factors for example the amount
of sunlight and wind can affect energy supply as they give you the ability to have renewable
energy resources like solar energy.
3) The pattern of global energy consumption is that the consumption per person is very high in
Canada, US, parts of the Middle East, Russia, Australia and most of Europe. Global energy
consumption is low in almost all of Africa bar south Africa and some others also it is low in
parts of south east Asia.
b) the main differences between map A and B are that some countries that produce a fair
amount of energy don’t have large energy consumptions and then the countries in Europe
that have low energy supplies then have relatively high energy consumptions and this is
because they buy energy. The similarities are that countries that have very high production
of energy also have high energy consumption. Examples of this are the US they produce over
1000 tonnes of oil equivalent and they consume 5001-10000 kgs or oil equivalent.
2) the reasons for growth in the global energy consumption are that as countries develop
their demand for energy supplies rises. For example, when China were rapidly developing,
they had to use a lot more energy than they had in previous times. This is now happening
with India. Another reason for increase in energy consumption is that the population is
constantly going up this means that we need more of everything more buildings.
3) as the use of technology increases especially during the pandemic with online school the
greater need for energy increases. As energy is needed to run the technology. It many also
help the supply as we will find new and more efficient methods of extracting energy.
4) The UK energy security could be improved by trying to get better deals to import energy for
cheaper from other countries. Also, try to make use of all the energy resources we have
available to us. Another way to improve the energy security would be to try and reduce our
overall energy consumption through energy saving devices and new and better technology.
