On the 9th day of May, the year 2022, the Filipino people have chosen our new leaders
such as the president, a vice president, a new set of senators, and local government leaders, after
the Duterte administration that ended on the 30th day of June 2022. 4 months after the election, I
still felt sad and disappointed about the recent election because people chose disinformation over
good governance. Elections in 2022 did not go smoothly, there were VCMs or vote-counting
machines that did not work properly or were damaged during polling day, some families fought
their relatives, and some pushed their friends away because of their political views and colors
such as blue, pink, red, and green is different. Some people will call the presidential candidates’
names or insults to satisfy their hate towards the candidate they hated and one of the most known
insults are "lugaw" and "magnanakaw" meant for Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo and
Presumptive President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
This election showed how the Filipino people respond to disinformation. In an attempt to
address the data that they called "fact checkers", certain individuals accept everything effectively
without checking on the off chance that it is valid and certain individuals resort quickly to
brutality verbally and genuinely to shield their official bet or to ridicule the official up-and-
comer they despised. It is observable that the greater part of the teens, youthful grown-ups,
particularly the minors that cannot cast a ballot yet upholds the up-and-comer that yells for good
administration, and the majority of the moderately aged grown-ups and older help the competitor
that yells solidarity of the Filipino public.
With 31,104,175 million votes, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ultimately won the
election. Leni Robredo is next with 14,822,051 million votes, while the rest of the candidates
who run for the position of president have fewer than 3 million votes. Young people, like myself,
I believed, supported the other candidates and not Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos because they
researched the history of the Marcoses and I suppose they don't want to experience that sort of
events in their life, whereas most middle-aged voters supported or supported Ferdinand
"Bongbong" Marcos Jr. because they believed that his late father Ferdinand Marcos Sr. did an
excellent job during his term as president in 1965–1986, while historians disagreed and claimed
that Marcos made things worse for the Filipino people.
During this election, I learned to criticize election candidates carefully. When I become a
voter, I must choose the leaders who know what their countrymen needs. To those who
supported as well as enabled the candidate who has pending cases, may they all be proud and
happy with their decision when his incompetency is finally reflected in society. I will all
remember them and how they are morals failed to assist their judgment. Now, I will just wish for
the country's sake, I hope the Philippines will not remain a third-world country as the new
president finally do his job. God bless the Philippines.
