• An adult red panda is slightly bigger than a cat.
• Their bodies are covered in brownish-red fur but
their bellies, arms and legs are black. They also have
small white markings around their eyes.
• They have long, ringed tails that are almost the same
length as their bodies.
• They use these tails to help them balance and to
keep themselves warm in winter.

• Red pandas live in mountainous forests. Many of
them live in China, Nepal, Bhutan and India.
• They live in high up forests and spend almost all
of their time in trees. This keeps them safe from
predators, such as snow leopards.
• Spending so much time in trees has helped red
pandas to become very good at balancing,
climbing and jumping.
