PROPHETS AND OTHER IMPORTANT FIGURES
In religion, a prophet is an individual who acts as an intermediary between the

followers of that religion and a divine being. A prophet passes on a message from
the divine being to the followers of that religion; some prophets are able to
perform wonders. Both Islam and Christianity have many prophets in common
and they are considered as messengers of God of Allah; Allah is the Islamic name
for God. Some of the prophets that both religions have in common are as follows:

Both in Islam and Christianity, Moses (Musa) is believed to be the messenger God
sent to deliver his people from the slavery of King Pharaoh in Egypt. In (Surat Al-
A’raf [103 – 123]) in the Quran, Allah sent Moses (Musa) to go to Pharaoh to set
the children of Israel free from slavery. When Moses and his elder brother Aaron
(Harun) went to Pharaoh, Pharaoh denied Moses’ message from God. Moses then
did as God instructed by making Aaron (Harun) drop his rod on the ground; upon
dropping his rod, it turned into a snake. Pharaoh did not believe this because
some of his magicians can also do this same trick, he then called his magicians to
perform this trick. The magicians dropped their staffs and they turned to snakes,
but their snakes were eaten by Moses’. In Exodus 7:10-12, Christianity also tells
the same story in the bible. The above prophets also have similar stories both in
Islam and Christianity. Jonah, Abraham, John the Baptist, Abraham, Elijah,
Zechariah and Elisha are not the only prophets that are in both Christianity and
Islam. There are other important figures that are in both religions, Jesus also
known as Isa in Islam is an important figure in both religions. It is stated in both
religions that he is going to come back to Earth during the end times. Using
Moses’ confrontation with Pharaoh and Jesus’ coming back as a case study, it is
clear that Christianity and Islam have similar prophets and other important
figures.
THE COMING OF THE ANTI-CHRIST
As the name implies, the anti-Christ is the opposite of Christ who is

regarded as the Messiah. The anti-Christ is against the teachings and doings of
Christ. Since Christ teaches the doings on God, the anti-Christ teaches, preaches
and promotes himself. The anti-Christ is sometimes regarded as the Beast of the
Earth and he going to promote what is known as the Mark of the Beast.
Both Christianity and Islam mentioned the anti-Christ in their holy books
that is the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran. In the Holy Bible (Revelation 13:1-18), It
is stated that a beast is going to come on Earth from the sea (Sometimes regarded
as the Beast from the Sea) having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns
ten crowns and upon his head blasphemy. This beast is wounded but still
powerful and some of the inhabitants of the Earth will worship him; but another
beast is going to rise out of the Earth to heal the wounded beast. The second
beast will convince the people of the Earth to worship the image of the beast
from the sea. That is how the Christianity describes the anti-Christ.
In Islam, he is known as AL-Masih ad-Dajjal. He is said to emerge from the

east of Damascus. He was never mentioned in the Quran but in hadiths. He is
known as the Deceitful Messiah. He will imitate many miracles performed by
Jesus and by so doing, deceive people to follow his trails and his practices. Some
Sunni Muslims say that Dajjal is an individual man whose first day on Earth will be
like a year, the second will be like one month, the third like one week and the rest
of the days will be like normal days. The Sunni Hadith says that Dajjal will be
chased to the gate of Lod where he will be captured and killed by Isa. In Islam
Dajjal is considered to be the Anti-Christ.
Both religions, Christianity and Islam believe that the Anti-Christ (deceitful
Messiah) will one day come one day and he will face Jesus Christ (Messiah).
