III. Instructional Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities

a. Prayer
Class let us all stand and feel
the presence of the Lord.
Lord thank you for today for taking
care of us. Bless us all Lord every day
in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
b. Greetings
Good morning class.
Good morning ma’am!
c. Classroom Setup
Before you take your seat,
kindly pick-up some pieces
of papers and plastics under (student’s will pick those scattered
your chair. pieces of papers and plastics under
their chair)

d. Checking of attendance
Class monitor, who is absent None Ma’am.
today?

That’s good to hear! It is nice

to know that you really love
our subject, mathematics.
So, let’s give everybody a (clap hands)
round of applause.

B. Elicit (Reviewing previous

lesson or presenting the new
topic)

Now, let’s have a review on the topic we

discussed last meeting.

Anyone from the class who would like

to share what we’ve discussed last
meeting?
Ma’am, our topic last meeting was
all about Illustrating similarity of
Okay, very good! figures.
So, when do we say that an object or
figures are similar?
We can say that figures are similar if
it has the same shape but may differ
Very well said. It seems that you really in size.
understood our topic last meeting.
C. Engage (Establishing the
purpose for the lesson)

Before we proceed, let’s have first our

objectives.
Objectives:

a. identify at least 3 pairs of

corresponding parts of two
triangles
b. discuss the SAS Triangle
Similarity Theorem
c. show the Two-Column Proof
of the SAS Triangle Similarity
Theorem
D. Explore (Presentation of the
lesson)

In the given Bset of triangles, 𝑚∠𝐴 =

AB DE
𝑚∠𝐷 and = .
AC DF

9 cm
40
A 12 cm C

E
6 cm
D 40 F
8 cm

Do you think the two triangles are

similar? Why?
(Students may or may not have
answers)

E. Explain (Discussing new

concept and practicing new
skills)

SAS (Side-Angle-Side) Triangle

Similarity Theorem – If two pairs of
corresponding sides of two triangles are
proportional and the corresponding
included angles are congruent, then the
two triangles are similar.
T

P R S U

Our included angles are,

∠R≅∠U

Now, the corresponding sides of two

triangles are proportional,
QR PR
=
TU SU
They must be proportional, if that’s the
case we can conclude that triangle
ΔPQR ΔSTU, that is by SAS Similarity
Theorem.

Now, to better understand let’s have our

example.

Example:
State if the triangles are similar. If so,
state the similarity theorem illustrated
by the triangles and complete the
similarity theorem.
J V 56 W

5
40
L 7 K

U
We know that,
∠L≅∠W

Now, let’s find the corresponding sides,

we know that,
LK 7 1
= =
VW 56 8

JL 5 1
= =
WU 40 8

Now, they are proportional. We can

conclude that by,

SAS Similarity Theorem

We have,
ΔJLK ΔUWV
F. Elaborate (Developing
mastery leads to formative
assessment)

Direction: Identify which triangles are

similar.
Solution:

G. Evaluate (Assessment of
learning)
Determine if the following triangles are
similar. If so, write the similarity Solution:
theorem and statement.
We can see that ∠B≅∠F and these
A
are both included angles. We just
12 have to check that the sides around
the angles are proportional.

H. Extend (Additional activities
for application or
remediation)
