Chart Key
Number of views Number of times compared Total number of reviews on Average words per review Average rating based on
to another product PeerSpot on PeerSpot reviews
Bar length
The total ranking of a product, represented by the bar length, is based on a weighted aggregate score. The score is calculated as follows:
For each ranking factor of Reviews, Views, and Comparisons, the product with the highest count in each ranking factor gets a maximum 18
points. Every other product gets assigned points based on its total in proportion to the #1 product in that ranking factor. For example, if a
product has 80% of the number of reviews compared to the product with the most reviews then the product's points for reviews would be 18
* 80% = 14.4.
Both Rating and Words/Review are awarded on a fixed linear scale. For Rating, the maximum score is 28 points awarded linearly between 6-
10 (e.g. 6 or below=0 points; 7.5=10.5 points; 9.0=21 points; 10=28 points). For Words/Review, the maximum score is 18 points awarded
linearly between 0-900 words (e.g. 600 words = 12 points; 750 words = 15 points; 900 or more words = 18 points). If a product has fewer than
ten reviews, the point contribution for Rating and Words/Review is reduced: 1/3 reduction in points for products with 5-9 reviews, two-thirds
reduction for products with fewer than five reviews.
Reviews that are more than 24 months old, as well as those written by resellers, are completely excluded from the ranking algorithm.
All products with 50+ points are designated as a Leader in their category.

Wi-Fi 6 is the most beneficial aspect of the solution. Apart from that, the WPA3 introduction in terms of security is one of the

I think Aruba Wireless' Wi-Fi 6 capability is something that really makes a difference. We used to have bottlenecks. Each user
has one laptop on one mobile device, so that equals 40 devices connecting to one AP. The Wi-Fi 5 series couldn't handle the
traffic during peak hours, and when I say "peak hours," I mean Monday at 11 a.m. We used to see a lot of packet drops, but we
Rahul haven't seen that problem at all since we moved to Wi-Fi 6. [Full Review]

If you're looking into a wireless solution, more and more people now are using Aruba Wireless. There are two key reasons why:
in a developing country, many of the companies look at the cost and quality of a solution. Cost-wise, Aruba Wireless is very
attractive here in the Sri Lankan market. The other key reason is Aruba Wireless provides their key product portal and a limited
SasikaRanas lifetime warranty. Other providers do not provide that level of warranty. These are the reasons why a customer would choose

Because it's cloud-based, it takes time for the floor maps and the heat map to load. I understand the reason for this but it would

The scope of improvement would go along with the technology's adoption into the market. Even though Wi-Fi 6 has been
introduced, everyone is quite skeptical in the market in terms of the adoption part, as the platform network should be that
strong to cater to that kind of bandwidth. While it may be great in the future, currently, the existing versions are incompatible

Aruba is missing some features that are available in other solutions, such as the email notifications. It's a bit complex to
configure the notification part. Mainly I'm talking about the rogue WiFi detection. This email notification is crucial for us, but it
isn't possible to configure with the built-in software. You need something else, like an external system log collector or another
Anar Aruba software. These notifications are essential in hospitality for PCI compliance. My colleagues in famous luxury hotel chains

Aruba needs to improve two things. One is security. These days, security is about more than just the endpoints — it's also
about the devices connecting to the endpoints. They need to improve wireless intrusion detection and prevention. If Aruba can
do something like that, I think it would be a game-changer. The second thing is the range. Before Aruba, we had Ruckus, which

Aruba is quite competitive in pricing. In some cases, on a case-to-case basis, Cisco also gives better discounts in terms of

Aruba is cheaper than their competitors in our market since we don't have a full Ruckus presence of the Ruckus here. There

The settings of Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN can be very granular. You can lock down and block devices with the controls. For

I like the fact that the deployment is so easy. Deploying and setting up a network have become so easy - like 1, 2, 3 steps and
you are up and running, whereas originally we needed to log into the app and all those things. Now, it is more robust for me to
deploy networks. And because of the field we are in where offices open up and others close, it helps my turnaround time to

It is very handy to have a support number to call. They will replace the hardware the next day if you prove it is broken. The
dashboard has a lot of functions and is fast, and you can configure everything you need from the dashboard. The app is handy
- when it works and you can log in. Firewall and traffic shaping are very useful. Also, application blocking is handy. You can see
Richard exactly which clients are connected to which device and trace traffic going to that device. Maps and floor plans are very useful

What I like best about Meraki is that I can change it from anywhere. I'm really the only person here that understands the
concepts, which means that if I'm not on campus, resolving the problem is something that I can do online. We also have a

Lee Tilley I can flip to make it go over to a different internet circuit pretty quickly without ever coming onto campus. [Full Review]
The way Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN groups certain things, as far as the devices for either monitoring and or configuring them

The cost of the hardware and licensing is extreme compared to other vendors. The Meraki model would be great for
small/medium businesses with many locations to manage in one dashboard. However, it's not good for education, the roaming

The only thing that always causes problems with Meraki is the license. It's a bit of a bugbear with Meraki, and it remains today.

Pricing and licensing are a concern for average enterprises as Ruckus is overpriced when compared to Aruba and Cisco. Also,

It wasn't much more than 100 dollars a year. For the devices that we have, the pricing was pretty fair. They have good,
reasonable pricing, so I can pass that price difference onto my customers. [Full Review]

In terms of pricing and licensing, the NETGEAR solution is reasonable. I usually get the Pro license, which is a little bit more
expensive. Their pricing is perfect for smaller businesses who are money and budget conscious. There are a lot of other
solutions out there that are two to three times more expensive. [Full Review]

It provides seamless connectivity if you move around. There is not a need to reconnect with the AP, again and again, where
you have to provide the passwords. Once you log in, you can move anywhere without any disconnectivity. That is the best
feature. The initial setup is straightforward. [Full Review]

It's cloud-based and very easy to deploy. Just input serial numbers of the AP and you can easily connect to the PoE switch. You
can configure many SID policies in the central method and deploy automatically to the AP. [Full Review]

ExtremeWireless provides us with enterprise-level authentication methods at an excellent cost. It supports all the latest
authentication methods. Another advantage is the built-in DHCP server. We don't need third-party DHCP servers to get the IPF.

The user interface of ExtremeWireless could be better. It is not user-friendly. In the future release, they could improve by
making an easier way to work on an extender for existing wireless networks. [Full Review]

The ExtremeWireless WiNG Access Point on-premise is not as good as the cloud and many of my customers are switching. It is
easier for my clients to manage everything from the cloud. I currently use a model of the controller that does not support any
cloud functionality. [Full Review]

The main area for improvement is the company's local visibility. It's not well-known in Portugal, making it harder to sell since
customers tend to prefer solutions that they are familiar with and have strong support in their country. [Full Review]

This product is not too expensive but not inexpensive, either. It is on par with everybody else. The cost varies depending on
the number of access points that you have. We pay approximately $30,000 per year. [Full Review]

It is a subscription model, so it is maybe a bit pricey. Normally we have 200-300 users but sometimes up to 1,000. Actually, I
think it's good. In wireless, Cisco and Oracle are expensive tools. [Full Review]

ExtremeWireless isn't budget-friendly. The hardware costs around 20,000 Indian rupees. We're still using an older controller,
so it doesn't require a license, unlike the newest versions of the ExtremeWireless controller. [Full Review]

Our access points device is at its end of life. I can buy one more and then I must buy a new device, but if it is a new device it
will not support the old virtual appliance. I would need to upgrade our virtual appliance to the next version or build a new
virtual appliance with new devices, and it's not good for us. The overall licensing subscription could be better. We are on an
reviewer170 annual license for the use of this solution. Typically when we build a new store, we buy approximately 30 access points with
4000
licenses. [Full Review]

What gateway do you recommend choosing for a company with 200 employees?
I'm in a search of a Gateway solution for my organization. We have 200 employees and my budget is $400-
800.
I've been checking Citrix Gateway, Aruba Wireless, Ubiquiti, and others.
What gateway do you recommend choosing for my company (based on the mentioned budget) and
why? Update: I need just a gateway/router (no VPN). And, possibly, I need a basic firewall, I'm not sure.

It all really depends on your objectives and what you want to achieve. Is top-level protection against new threats required?Do you want
a basic firewall for your office? A gateway for a VPN back to the office?Do you want simplified admin and updates, with good vendor &
post sale support? What are your objectives? I would be partial and get all the above, so check out the Fortinet.com Entry Models

When evaluating Wireless LANs, what aspect do you think is the most important to look for?
Let the community know what you think. Share your opinions now!
Several things come to mind but a few things stand out. 1. The term "future ready" comes to mind. I've seen businesses put significant
money into WiFi only to find some aspects of their networks are either not compatible with new Wireless IP standards or their
infrastructure incapable of handling the increased bandwidth for the newer standard. Operating at 2.4GHz is no longer efficient. The
it_user163 newest standard is 802.11x. The foundation of your network sets the tone for all that occurs on it. If it needs an upgrade that should be
557
part of any research and planning. Technology moves quickly, you must be able to move ahead with it. 2. You need to understand the
range of WiFi specifications from 802.11 to 802.11x and everything inbetween as to how it affects your network and how it will affect
your networks future growth. 3. If you aren't the person with the...

TCO is what I look at. You can get the APs cheap but what is the yearly maintenance cost do you need cloud or local control. The big
manufacturers all have good products as I have said when buying laptops many times the chips are the same the boards are the same
what is the difference service after the sale! These are my 2 big things I look for.

Wireless LAN
Hi,
How can I test the speed of my wireless network when a computer is connected to Wi-Fi?
Thanks
If you are wanting to know its internet speed you can always do speedtest.net or for LAN speeds I use LAN Speed Test by
totusoft.com. It's pretty low cost ( $20) and it isn't too hard to set it up and use.

Hi, If you want to test your internet speed (from device to an external server) you can’t get any better than Speedtest.net. If you want to
check your speeds across your internal network, you can use some of the tools provided by Solarwinds. Otherwise, you can make use
of iperf, connecting to endpoints at either side of your network. If your question is regarding data rate over the wireless connection
Joshua then there are a few ways of checking this. On Mac, there are several free tools you can use to check this. On Windows, you can use
Fatehnia
the command >Netsh WLAN show interface. Bear in mind your data rate will be a lot higher than your actual throughput Hope this
helps.
