Reflection Paper
- I have learnt that the Axiomatic System is composed of different parts; Theorems,
Corollaries, Lemmas, Postulates/Axioms, Defined Terms, and Undefined Terms. These are
used in proving logical statement in Geometry.
- I am still quite confused on what are corollaries and lemmas, though aside from that, I
do not have any difficulties in understanding the other terms in this lesson.
- In order to improve my knowledge regarding to this lesson, I have to study and research
more about the parts have difficulty in.
Teachers’ Remarks
- I have learned that the Undefined Terms are the building blocks of Geometry, while
Defined Terms are the subsets of the Undefined Terms. The three (3) undefined terms are; Point, Line
and Plane. Undefined Terms cannot be defined, instead are illustrated.
- I do not find anything difficult to understand in this lesson. I’ve achieved the
knowledge of understanding the whole lesson.
- For me to improve, I’ll have to continue studying this lesson, in order to not have any
confusion about any parts of this lesson.
Teachers’ Remarks
III. Lesson 3: Axiomatic Structure on Postulates and Theorems
What I have learned from this lesson:
- I have learned that Postulates are statements that are proven to be true without needing
any proof. While Theorems are statements that needs to be proven before accepted
to be true. These statements can be used to prove other logical conclusions. I have
also learned that Axioms and Postulates are the same, except Axioms are used in other
branches of Mathematics while Postulates are used in Geometry.
- I have some confusion between Corollaries and Lemmas, but aside from them, I don’t
have much trouble understanding any parts of this lesson, I understood what the
statements meant and their purpose.
- If I want to improve, I should understand the lesson more. If I don’t want any more
confusion, I have to really understand the parts of the lesson that I’m confused on.
Teachers’ Remarks
- In this lesson, I’ve learned the corresponding parts and their congruence. I’ve also
learned about the relationship between sides and angles.
- I do not have any difficulties in understanding this lesson. It is simple, and I fully
understood it.
Teachers’ Remarks
- I have learned that two triangles can be congruent based on these Postulates/Theorems.
I’ve also learned how they are illustrated and how you can know whether they are a
type of any of these postulates/theorems.
- I don’t have any difficulties in understanding the lesson, though I get confused at times,
I have to really analyze the figure before knowing which Postulate or Theorem it is. I mostly get
confused by the SAA Theorem, Sometimes I think it’s side-side-angle, which isn’t a thing.
Teachers’ Remarks
- I have learned how to solve for the missing measurements of sides or angles of two
congruent triangles. With the use of CPCTC and other Postulates/Theorems, I fully
understand how to solve for a missing measurement, basing that they are both
congruent.
Where do I have difficulty in understanding?
- I do not have any difficulty in any parts of this lesson. In fact, I think this is the only
lesson I understood easily.
- Despite fully understanding this lesson, I still have parts where I should improve in, and
to improve, I need to practice solving using different questions, in order to widen my
knowledge regarding lesson.
Teachers’ Remarks
- I have learned how to prove that two triangles are congruent with the use of these
Postulates/Theorems. I have learned how to make an open two-column proof in
proving two triangles congruent with these Postulates/Theorems. I have
also learned new Definitions, Postulates and Theorems in this lesson.
- Definitions, Postulates or Theorems such as; Reflexive property, Right Angle Theorem,
Definition of an angle bisector, Definition of a perpendicular bisector, Vertical angle
theorem, Definition of Midpoint, and Definition of a segment bisector
- I have difficulty in proving itself. Being logic and needing it to prove is a weakness of
mine. I’m not the best at logic and proving.
- What I need to do in order to improve is to understand how proving works more. I need
to practice proving more if I want to fully understand how to prove a statement.
Teachers’ Remarks
- I have a hard time fully understanding this lesson, so in order for me to improve, I’ll
need more time to review this lesson, I’ll have to put in an effort to understand this
lesson for me to not get confused in any more parts.
Teachers’ Remarks:
- I have learned more theorems, this time it’s regarding Isosceles triangles. I’ve learned 2
new theorems; The Isosceles triangle theorem and the Converse of Isosceles triangle
theorem.
- I have no difficulties in understanding this lesson, it came off quite simple and easy to
understand.
- Despite it being easy, I have to take note of all the important terms to remember and to
always keep them in mind.
