A.E 3:
Complete overhaul may be planned after receiving spares .
There is history of this A.E having preferential trip and even blackout, when load goes more than 2000 KW.
A.E 4:
Complete overhaul was done in Sep2021.
Performance is satisfactory.
The Exhaust Gas Boiler is a horizontal coil of water tubes with inlet and outlet header. The drain pipe of the
exhaust uptake is cracked near the bottom section.
As per Owners requirement cold cracking of the EGB should be carried out at suitable opportunity. This is by
opening the bottom inspection manhole and keeping the engine room pressurized.

HFO PURIFIER: WESTFALIA, OSD 60-0136-067/50 X 3 sets
The vessel has three HFO purifiers, Two M/E LO purifiers and two A/E LO purifiers.
Tube stacks of All three HFO purifier heaters are renewed recently in April 2022. The used tube stacks are
secured on floor of HFO purifier area and can be used or discarded after consultation from office. Refer to the
tag tied to the heaters.
HFO Purifier No 1:
This is working in good order presently. Complete overhaul was carried out in the month of FEB 2023.
Bowl routine was carried out in the month of FEB 2023.
This purifier Vertical shaft damaged in first week of March 2022.Vessel swapped the shaft from No 2 HFO
purifier which is not in use presently.
In Feb 2023 Vertical shaft routines and all bearings are changed.
Purifier is now working in order. Recently belt changed.
HFO Purifier No 2:
This is now working in good order. The centripetal chamber cover fitted is fabricated one. New cover
supplied but of different model. Cannot be used.
HFO Purifier bowl cleaning done on 28- April-2023, necessary O rings changed.
HFO Purifier No 3:
This is not in order now. Vertical Shaft damage happened and bowl is to be landed for balancing.
New model Vertical shaft received and all bearings assembled and ready for use..
- Most spares are available, spare parts are kept in respective racks for purifiers and arranged.
3 set of 8000hrs O-rings kept in compressor room rack with 1 set of vertical shaft bearings.
For electrical spares please check electrical section of rack and mostly everything is available with relays, pressure
switches, contactors, and water block and 3-way solenoid valves.
.
Normal practice is, run 2 HFO purifiers in parallel with minimum feed and correct separation temperature as
per analysis report.
There is a history of frequent breaking of driving belts during starting sequence; it was suspected that steam
ingress from sludge tank into standby purifier was the cause. The entire vent pipe from sludge tank till the oil
mist box was thoroughly cleared of rust and carbon in Oct19. However, the problem still exists although lesser
than before.
#2 HFO purifier sludge outlet valve to sludge tank was also renewed recently since the v/v seat was found in
poor condition due to prolonged exposure to steam.

Feed Pump Seal Changed: 27 Feb 2023
Please maintain spare set of drive belts due to frequent breaking of belts, for the above-mentioned reasons.
Do not mix DO and HFO for purification, this mixture will create lot of sludge in purifier bowl, sludge manifold and
sludge pipe which will very difficult to remove. Please keep in mind do not transfer oil from overflow tank more than
10 m3 in one time.
Please note as per maker instruction new conversion kit of a spindle to a new roller bearing: OSD 60 to be used during
next complete overhaul of purifier.
One conversion kit received.
Two numbers of ME LO purifiers are in use presently. Purifier heater was cleaned multiple times due to previous
boiler water contamination.
No 1 ME LO purifier vertical shaft to be received and bowl ready to be landed for balancing and cleaning .
ME LO Purifier no 1 Heater pressure tested on 11th April 2022. MELO purifier heater no 1 is in good order after
multiple cleanings and temperature of about 90’C could be achieved.
Both heaters are working satisfactory and maintaining temp more than 90 C.
One purifier spare motor available onboard to be installed in no 1 ME LO Purifier after vertical shaft and bowl
routines done.
Purifier misc:
No4 HFO purifier is designated DO purifier. This DO purifier is not in use and vertical shaft was removed
and used up in AE LO purifier. Spares can be ordered to make the DO purifier operational.
A.E Purifier overflow method of purification is not in use.
Presently A.E purifier is running from sump to sump.
MAC 4 is designated as emergency compressor so during emergency only No.4 can be started.
Carry out crankcase inspection for one compressor every week thus completing all 4 compressors by end of the
month. Until now no abnormalities found.
Compressor oil needs to be topped up at regular intervals for both crankcases as well as cylinder lubrication. Please do
it regularly to maintain safe operation and also order oil accordingly.
Spare 2 new LP valves are there. HP suction valve 2 and 2 hp discharge valves are there. Valves kept in compressor
room and compressor rack in ER stores.
Pressure switches, head gaskets and 2 spare pistons are in compressor room rack with other spares in ER stores
compressor racks.
MAC #1 overhauled as it trips on LO low pressure, found that water present in sump. Cylinder Head gasket found
broken. Because of no spare received for overhaul all parts dismantled cleaned and put back. Now running
satisfactory.
MAC #1 magnetic solenoid valve ( 3 way v/v )was opened and cleaned as it was not allowing air to pass
and close the unloader.
MAC #1 second stage unloader changed due to leakage now running satisfactory.
Always start after black out immediately or engine room blower flap will shut because of low air pressure in the
bottle.
This is an air-cooled screw compressor. Complete overhaul (4000-hour routine) was completed in the past.

4th ENGINEER’S HANDING OVER NOTES (DECEMBER-2022)
This is a retrofit unit. The ventilation near the unit is poor.
Operating pressure is 6.9 bar and noted working in good order without any alarms.
The compressor runs continuously in off load mode. When demand arises, loading takes and pressure is buildup.
Sludge line modification: The sludge line modification was done previously. Class has already approved the
drawing. Air-driven wilden pump is also installed in the sludge line which is used during sludge discharge.
Waste oil tanks are regularly used for evaporation and keeping sludge ROB under control during long voyage.
Waste oil tank extraction fan was overhauled on 9th Jan 2022 along with the motor. Mist box line was found
chocked. The drain line and the mist box were also completely cleaned. An arrangement is made for blowing this
drain line using compressed air on 18th Jan 2022.
STP is biochemical type designed for BLACK WATER ONLY. Capacity is 40 persons. Toilets on board are
conventional type.
STP discharge and grey water are directed to clean drain tank in US waters and during China coasting and overboard
discharge is kept shut and locked.
The system is working in good order. Clean drain tank is the designated gray water tank. Weekly residual chlorine
content is checked and logged. Monthly backwashing of the chambers is carried out. Clean the level sensor probe
on weekly basis to avoid overflowing of STP as the pump cut in, cut out and High level alarms share a common
sensor probe.
Spare motors kept near the sewage treatment plant. Sufficient chlorine tablets are in stock
Bunker Management & Fuel regulations 2020
Currently vessel uses only three grades of fuels i.e., HSFO, VLSFO, LSMDO/LSMGO.
Vessel has 245 MT of VLSFO in no-7(p) tank, reports of which is bad & not to be used.
Vessel has total 12 no’s storage tanks for HSFO. 2 no’s storage tanks for LSMGO/LSMDO. No 8 HFOT (P &S) lines
had been modified under previous management in order to designate these two tanks for ULSFO.
Please note, although designated and named as ULSFO, but the supplied fuel is distillate grade LS fuel, i.e. DMA01,
RMD 0.1%S i.e., similar grade to the fuel in DO storage tanks.
As you must be aware, new MARPOL regulations in force from 01 Jan 2020, requires ships to either
Use compliant fuel i.e., fuels with less than 0.5% sulphur.
OR
Requires suitable abatement technologies to be installed (such as Exhaust Gas Scrubber) in order to use fuel
more than 0.5% Sulphur.
Since this vessel is fitted with Exhaust Gas Scrubber system, vessel is using fuel containing less than 3.5%
Sulphur.
In the present route Vessel takes max Bunkers at Singapore and top up at Newark/ TPP if required.
