Landingin, Sarah Mae D., Padilla, John Alfonso T. (2014). Knowledge and Practices
on Climate Change of Bago Tribe in Aringay, La Union. Bachelor of Science in
Nursing. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University South La Union Campus,
Institute of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences, Agoo, La Union.
Indigenous people are the least contributors to climate change, yet they were the
first to suffer from its impacts; however, modification and application of their traditional
practices minimized the effects of climate change to their life and culture.
The study aimed to determine the knowledge and practices on climate change of
Bago Tribe in Aringay, La Union. The study utilized ethnography design using a semi-
structured interview and observation. The nine participants were chosen purposively and
the study was conducted from November2013 to September 2014 at Sitio Barcelona Brgy.
Pangao-aoan East Aringay, La Union. Spradley’s method was used to analyze the data.
The participants believed that human works were the primary reasons of inducing
climate change and it affected their health, food and water supply, and river location.
They chose to lie between the traditional and modern way of life particularly with
their practices in farming, home, health maintenance and mitigation.
