Just as hand tools need maintenance, so do power tools. Electric drill, jigsaw,
sander, circular saw, and router also need routine maintenance just like hand tools. Due
to its mechanical and electrical parts, a power tool is more susceptible to malfunction
caused by poor maintenance, dust and accumulate of debris.
Here are some useful tips on how you can clean and properly store power tools:
Whether it be hand or power tools, try to keep instruction manuals with you.
These manuals were provided by the manufacturer so that you can safely and
effectively use or operate your tools. Manual also have valuable information on how to
care for tool, where to find replacement parts, and other important information. Keep
instruction manual safe in a tool box drawer, cabinet, or shelf so that these are readily
available when you need them.
Lubrication
Lubricants are substances used to reduce friction between two moving surfaces.
This process or action of applying a substance, such as oil or grease, to an engine or
component so as to minimize friction and allow smooth movement is known as
lubrication. Tools undergo the process of lubrication in order to maintain optimal use of
carpentry tools and equipment.

1. Look for available tools and equipment in your house used for carpentry task.
2. While recording yourself thru a video recording, identify the tools or equipment you
prepared.
3. Check the condition of the tools and equipment.
4. Segregate defective tools from functional ones.
5. Lastly, conduct preventive measure maintenance on how you will take care the tools
or equipment.
