CN Lab Project + Presentations

The document assigns a project to design a network infrastructure connecting three university campuses using Cisco Packet Tracer. It requires subnetting the IP address 172.1.0.0/16, setting up a DHCP pool on the router, and configuring a routing protocol. The network must be designed considering factors like scalability, security, and reliability. The submission requires a hard copy of the design, configurations, and an explanation of the topology and subnetting addressing scheme used.

Project Assignment

M.Rauf
BSIT Computer Network Lab (10 Marks)
(5 Marks Implementation + 5 Marks Presentation)

Scenario: You are the network engineer for USKT (University of Sialkot), which has three
campuses located in the different cities: Main Campus, Kashmir Campus, and Iqbal Campus.
Your task is to design a network infrastructure that connects these three campuses.
Demonstrate using Cisco Packet Tracer. Additionally, you need to perform subnetting using the
IP address 172.1.0.0 with a network mask of 255.255.0.0, set up a DHCP pool on the router for
IP allocating to computers, and configure a routing protocol. You can use any routing protocol
for creating a connection.
Question: Design a network infrastructure using Cisco Packet Tracer to connect the three campuses of
USKT (Main Campus, Kashmir Campus, and Iqbal Campus) located in the same city. Provide a detailed
network diagram that includes routers, switches, and necessary interconnections. Assign appropriate IP
addresses to each network segment by subnetting the IP address 172.1.0.0/16. Specify the IP address
range for the DHCP pool on the router and outline the configuration steps required to set it up. Finally,
select and configure a routing protocol that enables efficient communication between the campuses.

In your answer, describe the network topology, the devices used, their configurations, and the steps
taken to subnet the given IP address. Explain the rationale behind your design choices and the
advantages of the selected routing protocol. Use Packet Tracer to demonstrate the connectivity and
successful communication between the three campuses.

Remember to consider factors such as scalability, security, and reliability while designing the network.
Provide justification for any design decisions you make and consider potential challenges and their
solutions.

Note:

Also submit hard copy of your design + describe the network topology. All configuration on router and switch
should be available in hard form.
one group only 2 members.

172.1.0.0 ip address for roll no. 1

172.2.0.0 ip address for roll no. 2
172.3.0.0 ip address for roll no. 3
so select ip address according to your roll no.
if any group have same design and configuration both Projects will be discarded.
