L&T Interview Questions

These interviews are compiled by Chirag Jain (LinkedIn). Except for my interview, I claim no

The interview was in online mode which was conducted after an Aptitude round which was about 2 hours long and had
basic English, Logical, and Arithmetic reasoning questions. My Interview lasted for about 20 minutes including the
Extempore part. Following are the interview questions,

1) Have you faced any failures?


(After going through my Academic Record the interviewer felt I haven’t faced any)

2) What did you learn from those failures?

3) Tell me about your family background. (Parents, Siblings)

4) Will you be able to relocate to offshore/remote locations?

5) Since you have an excellent academic record will you go for a Master's/PhD?

Technical

6) You have mentioned vessel sizing in your Internship, what are the criteria for selecting a vertical or a horizontal
vessel?

7) How to calculate pressure drop in a 2-phase mixture?

8) Walk me through the basic steps of Aspen HYSYS.

9) What is a base method?

10) Suppose I have a mixture of gases what base method should be used?

11) Should I use Peng Robinson if the gases are Ideal?

12) When do we go for countercurrent vs co-current operation in the heat exchanger?

13) What is heat duty?

14) What trays do you know in distillation?


15) What are the methods for the Calculation of an Ideal Tray?

16) Other than McCabe Thiele is there any other method that you have heard of?

17) In what type of Distillation is the relative volatility 1?

18) What can we do to increase NPSH?

19) Is NPSH related to Discharge Pressure?
