CARRIAGE

NOTES

(I) Unless otherwise stated, the carriage rates include loading, unloading and stacking for purpose of
measurement.

(II) For carriage of materials on river or choe beds, 30 percent extra, over the rates of the subsequent
kms. should be paid for (excepting those for item Nos. 5.1, 5.3 to 5.5,5.6 (a) and 5.9 to 5.11) actual
river or choe bed length involved, irrespective of the position of the Km.

(III) For carriage of materials on unmetalled roads, 25 percent extra on the rates of the subsequent km
(excepting those for item Nos. 5.1, 5.3 to 5.5, 5.6 (a) and 5.9 to 5.11) should be paid, irrespective of
the position of the km.

(IV) For carriage of lengths above 6 meters, of heavy steel sections, like R.S.joists, Rails etc., which can
not be easiy bent, increase the rates for steel in item No. 5.2 by 50 percent.

(V) Carriage of materials should be done by Government Transport except in cases, where such
transport cannot be employed on account of the terrain of the locality, in which carriage is to be done
or where on account of weight of the materials, to be carried, it would be uneconomical to use
Government transport, or where such transport is not available.

(VI) Carriage work, if done by boats, shall be paid at the same rates, as given in this chapter, for carriage
by road.

(VII) Carriage rates of all materials, carried in the containers, include the carriage of containers in which
the materials are carried. Only the net weight of material carried, is payable excluding the weight of
container.

(VIII)The rates for carriage of materials, manually up to 0.48 and by mechanical means, for every km.lead,
have been given. In case actual lead exceeds one k.m. and falls into next, full rate for the next km will
be paid, i.e., fraction of the km will be payable for the full km.

(IX) While making measurement of materials for the purpose of payment for carriage, suitable deduction
shall be made to account for vods in loose stacking. This factor will be different with different
