Flipkart Private Limited is an Indian e-commerce company, headquartered in Bangalore, and
incorporated in Singapore as a private limited company. The company initially focused on online
book sales before expanding into other product categories such as consumer electronics, fashion,
home essentials, groceries, and lifestyle products.
The service competes primarily with Amazon India and domestic rival Snapdeal. As of March
2017, Flipkart held a 39.5% market share in the Indian e-commerce industry. Flipkart has a
dominant position in the apparel segment, bolstered by its acquisition of Myntra, and was
described as being "neck and neck" with Amazon in the sale of electronics and mobile phones.
Flipkart was founded in October 2007 in Mumbai by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, alumni
of the IIT, Delhi and former Amazon employees. The company initially focused on online book
sales with country-wide shipping. Flipkart slowly grew in prominence and was receiving 100
orders per day by 2008.
1. First of all, FC (Fulfillment Center) gives packaging shipments to MH
(Mother hub) through cages or conveyer.
2. Then MH (Mother Hub) does the primary sorting of those shipments according to
district or Zonal wise. There are many bins (Bin 1/ Bin 2) where the shipments are
segregated through HHD ( Hand held device) device.
3. Then the shipments are taken bin wise into the trolley, for secondary sorting. The
secondary sorting will go to any DH (Delivery hub) within the district accordingly. And
the bin from which the shipments will be taken in primary scanning, these shipments
must be kept in that bin during secondary scanning. If any shipments are taken from
supposed primary bin 1 or 2 then it should be kept or taken to secondary station 1 or 2.

4. Shipments are taken from primary to secondary through trolley or conveyor.

5. Then secondary scanning is done according to the DH (Delivery Hub) or Pin code in
the district. There, first the bar-code of the shipments is scanned using the HHD device,
then the bin number will be shown on the HHD device (supposed Bin 1/Bin 2). Then
scan the barcode of the bin of the secondary station and then put the shipments in the
bag kept in that bin.
6. Then when those bags are full (Maximum 15 to 18 KG) then those bags are sent for
weight and labeling. There, the mouth of the bag should be closed well by using a tag,
and then its weight should be measured by using a weight and labeling machine. Then
scan the barcode attached to the weighing machine and a label will come out from the
labeling machine, which has to be inserted into the tag of the bag. This bag written on
that label is air shipments or ground shipments and where is its destination. All the
details are written on the label.

7. Then those bags are put into the cages and handed over to the dock department.
Then according to the dock department cutoff time, the bags are loaded on the track and
sent to the next destination i.e. DH (Delivery Hub). Some cutoff times are 12.00 PM,
13.30 PM, 17.30 PM, 19.30 PM, 21.30 PM, 12.00 AM etc. This all times are MH
( Mother Hub) cutoff times.
8. Products or shipments are dispatched depending on some cutoff time in Total
warehouse. The total process must be completed within that time. MH(Mother hub)
has 90 minutes time to handover their shipments to dock department. Otherwise, CPD
(Customer Promise Date) bridge will come.
