Lesson Delivery Plan

Pay attention to the R-words to activate the brain for learning!

1. Objective (Rigor) - SMART and should be visible on your board daily.

The purpose of today’s lesson is to identify and describe the book’s main event, the conflict, and the resolution with clear
understanding. “We will” read and discuss “Midnight on the Moon” and identify and describe the book’s main event, the
conflict, and the resolutions. “I will” read, discuss, and create a mind map to prove my understanding of the main event, the
conflict, and the resolution.

2. Opening (Retrieval) – How will you "hook" your students into the lesson--at both the
thinking and emotional level?

 What will you do to open the lesson to motivate and engage the students’ interest in the
content?
 How will you help students make connections to prior knowledge?
 How will you identify and present your essential questions, Central focus, and Learning
Targets (I CAN statements)?
 How will you identify / teach / assess language demands?
 How will you introduce language supports?

to engage students with lesson.

Teacher will review previous lesson to connect prior knowledge, understanding of main event, conflict, and resolution of a
book.

Teacher will focus on the I CAN statement, students will repeat after teacher. Teacher can present the essential question and
discuss any clarification needed.

After lesson, teacher will use “I learn statement” for formative assessment and identify good understanding with end of unit
test for summative assessment.

The opening is congruent to the object because it relates to the topic, the student’s are engaged, being creative, and making
connections to previous knowlegge.

3. Teacher Input (Relevance) – What information is needed for the students to gain the
knowledge/skill in the objective?  (Be sure you have done a task analysis to break the
information/skill into small manageable steps).  How will you use strategies, technology,
learning styles?  What vocabulary and skills do the students need to master the material?  Are

visual aids, vocabulary, modeling, and feedback to gain the knowledge in the
objective. Teacher will use active and cooperative learning to engage students. Students will use CANVA provide additional
learning opportunities. Students will use word wall to help with vocabulary. I feel that the strategies I plan is congruent to the
objectives.

 Model (Routing) – Outline your I DO activities.  Be sure to model strategies and academic
language supports needed.
Teacher needs to provide clear expectations and model what the teacher is asking for the students to produce. I DO: Teacher
will read text and students will follow and underline key. Words to include vocabulary, main event, conflict, and resolution,

 Guided Practice – Students demonstrate a grasp of new learning under the teacher’s
direct supervision.  The teacher moves around the room to provide individual remediation as
needed.  “Praise, prompt, and leave” is an excellent strategy to use.  Outline your WE
DO activities. Be sure to incorporate strategies and academic language supports that are needed.
WE DO: Students will pair share what they have learned. Pair share will encourage students to discuss
vocabulary, main events, conflict, and resolution in pairs.

 Independent Practice (Retaining/Rehearsing) – Students demonstrate an independent

application of new skill.  Outline your YOU DO activities. Students demonstrate an independent
application of new skill. Be sure to praise and assess strategies and academic language supports
that are being used.
YOU DO: After sharing, students will create their mind maps. Mind maps will allow students to be create and
provide their understanding of the lesson.

 Check for Understanding (Recognizing) – Practice doesn't make perfect; it makes

permanent.  So, make sure the students understand how to proceed before moving to the practice
phase of the lesson.  You may need to stop and reteach, so students practice correctly.  How do

I will check for understanding by watching and observing the students answer and questions. The video in the module gave
a good way to check for understanding. The teacher did a thump up and thumbs down for students. I would reteach by
pulling the ones who did not understand into small groups.

 How will you check for understanding or reteach?

4. Assessment  – How will we know that the students have individually mastered

the objective?   What evidence will be collected?  What will be an acceptable score? What
evidence will be collected to demonstrate mastery of language demands?
I will know that the student has mastered the objective by the mind map they created. The acceptable passing grade with the
intent to understanding and the evidence of the mind map.

5. Resources - What materials will you need for a successful lesson?

The materials needed will be pencil, paper, journal, book, and ipad.

6. Closure (Re-exposure) – How will you have the students end the lesson/reflect upon what
wasWelearned?
will close the lesson with whip around activity. This will allow the students to review what they learned and allow them to
move around before the next subject.
