INTRODUCTION

Purpose of the Study

Effective budgeting is crucial for the success and sustainability of any

organization, including vendors. Vendors operate in dynamic environments and

face unique challenges when it comes to managing their finances. While various

budgeting strategies have been proposed in literature, their practical

implementation and efficacy in the vendor context remain relatively unexplored.

This qualitative study aims to bridge this gap by investigating the budgeting

strategies employed by vendors and shedding light on their effectiveness.

Significance of the Study

This research aims to contribute to the vendor management literature by

providing a comprehensive understanding of budgeting strategies employed by

vendors. By exploring the effectiveness of these strategies and identifying

influential factors, this study intends to enhance the financial management

practices of vendors. The findings will be valuable for vendors seeking to

optimize their budgeting processes, make informed financial decisions, and

achieve long-term sustainability and growth in their operations.

Research Questions

The study aims to answer the following questions:

1. What are the budgeting strategies commonly employed by vendors?

2. What are the factors influencing the selection and implementation of

these budgeting strategies?

3. What is the perceived effectiveness of different budgeting strategies

among vendors?

4. What are the challenges and opportunities associated with vendor

budgeting strategies?

5. What are the proposed recommendations for vendors to enhance their

financial management practices based on the findings?

METHODOLOGY

Data Gathering Procedure

This study will adopt a qualitative research approach to gain an in-depth

understanding of the budgeting strategies employed by vendors. Semi-structured

interviews will be conducted with the randomly selected wet market vendors from

Daraga Public Market. The participants will be selected using purposive

sampling, considering willingness and availability. The data collected will be

analyzed using thematic analysis to extract key themes and patterns related to

budgeting strategies, effectiveness, and influential factors.

Research Instrument

Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with the selected vendors.

The interview questionnaire consists of questions patterned after the research

objectives. Direct observations will also be conducted to gather information.


The interview will help the researchers gather all the information needed

from the respondents. The interview will be conducted to randomly selected wet

market vendors at Daraga Public Market, Daraga, Albay in a face-to-face setting.

The researchers will ask help and assistance of their research instructor to check

the appropriateness and coherence of the interview questions. The interview

questionnaire will be presented for validation to experts and significant others.

The recommendations of the validators will be considered in the final copy of the

survey questionnaire.

Research Locale

This study will focus on identifying the Impacts of Absenteeism to the

Academic Performance of the students. It was conducted at Daraga Community

College, a public institution in the province of Albay, Philippines. The study is

delimited to First Year BEED Students in the first semester of curriculum year

2022 – 2023 and did not include students from other programs or colleges. The

total population of First Year BEED Student at Daraga Community College is

comprised of one thousand seven hundred fifty-one (1, 751) individuals

distributed across 44 blocks. Among the population, a sample size of three

hundred twenty-six (326) students were selected as the respondents of this

Respondents of the Study

The study is delimited to wet market vendors in Daraga Public Market,

Daraga, Albay. The researchers will gather data from a conveniently available
number of respondents. As part of the research criteria for choosing respondents,

each person who will participate in the survey must be available and willing.
